Sleek and Fast.

Strengths: Looks great, works fast. The aluminum case cools well. The working light is interesting too..a vantec logo. USB cord is one of the better ones, with a pass through adapter

Weakness: Finish quality is exaggerated...it's not a mirror finish, but it's still quite good.

It's really easy to put together, with only 6 screws needed for assembly. The enclosure comes with a very nice carrying case that also holds the cable.

The included usb cable is above average since it has 2 heads. One head is the data cable, and the other is a USB pass through in case the usb ports on your computer can't give the enclosure enough juice.

The enclosure is made of aluminum and does a really good job at keeping drives cool. Keep in mind that uses the IDE interface and not the newer SATA.

It's a little pricey but you get what you pay for.

Power on USB port

Strengths: For $29.35 delivered from ZipZoomFly.com I think this is a very good value. The Enclosure stays very cool. I got the midnight blue (NST-260U2-BL) and I think it looks very nice.

Weakness: Provider should document that external power supply is not provided but that the two USB heads should provide enough power for even low power USB ports.

I was under the mistaken impression that this system came with a separate power supply since my Dell 600m doesn't have enough power to drive it on a single USB port. The system has an external DC +5V power jack, but you have to buy the DC power supply separately.

However, because the cable has 2 USB heads my laptop has enough power for the external drive. No external power source was needed. I am very pleased with this product!

very elegent product

Strengths: neat out look and easy installation, PnP. With a black holder for the protection.

Great Looking

Strengths: Looks great, easy to put together, nice led light, great parts

Weakness: no fan, gets dirty on the outside fast

The price was a little high, but quality parts. I got it at zipzoomfly.com. Easy to put together, I like the USB interface, external power source, overall not a bad buy.

All looks no guts

Strengths: nice looking, compact and portable. Comes with a nice Accessory bag.

Weakness: plug and play is hit and miss.

I have windows XP home with SP/2. This unit has potential, but the plug and play only works sometimes. In order for the unit to work, the USB cables have to be attached to the main board, a major pain if you’re like me and have the computer tucked away under a desk. I was told that buy purchasing the additional DC adapter it would solve the problem, of plug and play, which it did not. So now I plug it in and pray that my machine detects it.

Excellent backup device

Strengths: Looks great, easy to assemble

Weakness: Takes up to 20 mins for computer to recognize it

I had my first one for about 6 months before I ordered another one. The first one, which is blue, took a long time for the computer to recognize it, normally up to 20 minutes. Then I bought another one, which is red, hoping for better results and it works within seconds of plugging it up. I would give it 5 stars if I could get the other one to get recognized. I'm sure it's not the color that makes the difference.

Strengths: Small; great looking; works well; fast; case

This is a great little unit. It is very fast and compact. The fit & finish are excellent. Easy to install 2.5 laptop drive. Chief-Value even delivered it a day early. Very happy with this unit.

good hard disk enclosure

Strengths: small size. nice looking cover design.

Weakness: none so far.

I bought this to house my samsung 2.5 inch harddisk. Installation was a breeze. The enclosure is very small and nice looking, plus it comes with a zipper case which makes it very handy to carry around.
