A good performing card, but heat can be a problem

Strengths: Good 3D performance, OK price, nVidia drivers are very good

Weakness: Heat can be a problem for the memory, still a bit expensive

I've owned many nVidia products (6) over the years and the GeForce 7800GT is a very nice card. But as with most new computer products now days it seems to put out more heat than its predecessors. The XFX version you see here is overclocked out of the box from XFX to 450 MHz on the processor and 1050 MHz on the memory. After installing this card and running it through a few tests it was obvious that XFX should either have used better memory chips than they did, or just not sell the card overclocked to begin with. When the card is used is its default overclocked state, you can see texture corruption in a number of games. In particular Tiger Woods 2004 where the grass turns orange instead of green. Down clocking the card to its spec memory rating of 1000 MHz, corrects the problem. All in all this a good card, but XFX should have done a better job with their implementation.

Great Video Card

Strengths: Already factory OC'd and good price

Weakness: None

Very good video card. Games and graphics look great with card. You get all that is advetrtised with this GPU. ANd you can get it at a very decent prices, great whether a stand alone card and amazing in an SLI setup PC. It comes with decent games I think, they might be old to some but still good enough to come as a bundle since some video cards just come with drivers. And I got it with Call of Duty 2 offer. Definately a great buy if your looking for a good video card to upgrade to.

great graphics card..

Strengths: the graphics are ultra nice while playing counter strike soruce, battlefield2, or call of duty.. one word that describes it all.. amazag.. :]

Weakness: none that i can think of.. one of the best cards you can buy today.. besides the 7800 gtx.. maybe the price.. it's $300 it was kind of pricey for me.

i would recommand this card to everyone.. it's kind of pricey but if you can afford it i would recommand you getting this card.. heck if your budget is bigger than mines was hell get the 7800gtx my friend has it and its awasome.. but seriously this card is graphics great and it works great with the games in the market today.. you won't regret it.. trust me!

XFX 7800 GT Overclocked video 256MB, PCIe X16, Dual...

Strengths: Great card for the price. Overclocked out of box, includes XFX's double lifetime warranty.

Weakness: Software bundle is lacking.

XFX does it again with their overclocked GT. The 7800 GT is a great card for those who cannot afford the GTX, while only losing about 15%-20% of the power. It has the new double lifetime warranty. The only minus is the lame software bundle of FARCRY and a couple other older games.

Recommend if you can spare the $$

Strengths: Factory over-clocked, Price

Weakness: Fan is loud on high

This is my first purchase from XFX. The card comes with a double lifetime warranty and is packaged very well. You get all of the adapters you could need plus a few decent games. Don’t forget it comes over-clocked from the factory, which is covered under the warranty. My only complaint is the noise from the fan on the vga cooler. I don’t blame XFX because they used the cooler issued by NVIDIA. I do blame NVIDIA though, they could do better, especially at the price they want for these cards. The fan at full throttle is loud and at idle it is tolerable. I like a quite pc and right now it is 3 times louder than any other fan in my case. I used a fan controller to turn the voltage all the way down on the fan, still too loud for my liking. Artic cooling will have a 7800GT vga cooler available mid October 2005, this will bring silence to this issue.

Best 7800GT package for the price

Strengths: Factory overclocked; cables and adapters included; double lifetime warranty; initial software bundle is so-so but it all made up with a Call of Duty 2 offer that came later

Weakness: None

Once you made up your mind to choose between ATI and nVidia according to your budget, where the feature and specifications of the GPU are pretty much standardized, it then becomes important to look at the bells and whistles from individual manufacturer where all the differences are being made. And I can say that XFX is probably one of the best. This 7800GT is factory overclocked (450MHz core instead of 400MHz; and 1.05GHz memory instead of 1.0GHz). True, the one from EVGA is overclocked even at a higher speed, but it is also more expensive. I bought this card back in September, at that time it came with Far Cry (and two other lesser known games), which are all a bit outdated. Then later they introduced an offer with EA for Call of Duty 2. Although I made the purchase so much earlier, they went ahead and sent me a free copy of the game as soon as it is publicly available. After spending $300+, it was a bit of the taste of sweetness that helped me to forget the pain in my wallet.

One of the Best Graphics Cards Tested

Strengths: Factory Overclocked - Very fast, Bundled with games, Accessories included

Weakness: None

This is a very fast graphics card. It's tested to be one of the fastest 7800 GT graphics card (This and BFG being the two fastest for the price)

Geforce 7800 GT PCI-E

This is a top-of-the-line video card with PCI-Express interface and dual DVI ports along with a TV-out port. Performance is blazing fast on the latest games and it comes with a lifetime warranty. it is a tad expensive but well worth it for hardcore gamers.

This is a pretty generic review - everything you mention is basically in the description. Is there nothing else you can say about the product that would help me decide whether or not to buy it?

A great card!

Strengths: 7800 GT says it all! Plays nearly every game with all eye candy!

Weakness: None so far.

You really can't go wrong with any 7800GT card on the market. The two best IMO are XFX and eVGA. The eVGA CO edition slightly edges this one out with the copper cooling. But this card is no slouch! Run any game on all the higest settings and you will not be dissapointed. XFX also offers double lifetime warranty (means if you sell it, it transfers one time).

xfx 7800gt

Strengths: factory oc, dual dvi, free copy of cod2

Weakness: can't oc much over the factory default.

i recommend this to others.

the card performs decently, with 3dmark05 score in 7200 range with my x2 3800+, abit an8 sli, 2gb corsair value select.

in my opinion, it runs cool, highest temp i have seen is 73c and it idles at around 42. i think the xfx metal bar helps spreading the heat a bit.

nvidia optimal clock is only 461/1070 though i can push it more than that. running at factory default 450/1050 now.

the bad thing is they shipped me the wrong part which has a molex power socket but a pcie 6 pin power connector in the box.

spent a lot of time updating chipset/video drivers and that sovled most issues. can run cod2 and bf2 for hours now. occasionally locks/crashes but i suspect the mobo has some issue.
