XP Pro

Strengths: OEM software/full version

Weakness: none

Was skeptical about how the price could be so reasonable, especially when compared to other stores/auctions. Decided to take a chance and was NOT disappointed. Item was exactly as described and 100% officially licensed. Would highly recommend seller and product to anyone!

Upgrading to XP Pro

Strengths: The XP operating system seems to run more smoothly with less resource usage than 98.

Weakness: Really not a weakness, but I hate those little info things that pop and and tell you what the computer is doing.

Am pleased so far with operating system. I can multitask easier since I use two different printers and a program that uses a lot of resources at the same time. I have not gotten the blue screen of death that I used to get regularly. I actually resisted upgrading to XP because I liked 98, but so far I like the upgrade.

Microsoft Windows XP Professional w/ Service Pack 2

Strengths: Very satisfactory operating system.

Weakness: Can only be installed on a new machine, won't work for upgrades.

I installed this 32 bit version of XP on a new 64 bit, dual core computer after having problems finding drivers for the 64 bit version of XP. I have XP Pro on several machines and have been happy with the performance.

Windows XP Professional w/SP2 (OEM )

Strengths: Price, delivery time

Weakness: Only the wait which was short

The price couldn't be beat, the delivery time was shorter than stated. I actually received the first order in 3 days, the second order in 4 days. I preferred to purchase this product because I don't need all the packaging, manuals, etc. I just wanted to install and be up and running. I will definitely purchase again for my network.

Windows XP Professional w/SP2 (OEM License)

Strengths: Runs the PC OK. Comes with mail, browser, search, multimedia and basic word programs and some utilites. Can setup for internet and intranet. Has basic firewall. Supprots free updates.

Weakness: Slow, lacks robustness. Tries to integrate programs with OS. Lack of ability to configure the OS. Bulky, hard to streamline.

If Microsoft would quite trying to intigrate their programs with the OS and give the consumer more functionality/choices they would not have soo many negative reactions. Instead they concentrate too much on the 'bling' and try to coerce you to stick with their products. Somethings have improved while other remain the same.

I'm stuck with windows as I can't afford alterantives like Macintosh where I would have to buy new replacement programs. I also have not had a chance to really try a Macintosh. Can't run MS based software with Linux either.

Great for building a new sytem, not for just...

Strengths: Looks like it is real. I will use it when i rebuild my older system. until then I am assuming it will work

Weakness: Did not know you had to rebuild the system with the disk for the code to work.

Fair price as this OS will be End of life before we know it.

Windows XP Professional w/SP2 (OEM License).

Strengths: The WXP CD included SP2, and installed fine on my daughter's new Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop.

Weakness: Like many new laptops, hers has a SATA drive, and no floppy, and this creates a problem. (Microsoft issue). See comments.

The WXP CD included SP2, and installed fine on my daughter's new Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop. (This came with Vista, which I do not like. Dell refused to ship it with XP, so I purchased this and a new HDD and installed it myself). WXP activated fine, including WGA. I now have SP3 running great. I found the XP drivers on the Dell website.

The laptop has a SATA drive, and no floppy, and this creates a problem. XP prompts you to insert the SATA drivers in A: - it does not allow you to look at a USB drive, for example. The solution is to create a new WXP install CD, using nLite, with the SATA drivers included. See the excellent procedure for this in maxeasyguide.blogspot..... Thanks Max Ting, and also the creators of Nlite!

Review the product (Windows XP Professional w/SP2...

Strengths: This is a replacement for Vista SP1. Operates faster and has a crisper re3sponse.

Weakness: Won't be supported for much longer. However, seeing that MS support for Vista isn't very good either, this may be a small weakness.

Have used XP for many years. At first there were problems with drivers. But these problems soon disappeared. The hardware manufacturers weren't too far behind the XP release. More than a year after the Vista release, I am still waiting for drivers for a linksys NIC (mid 2007 purchase)and Netgear NIC (they won't develop drivers for a selling unit). Incompatibilities still exist with some of my graphics and video editing software. XP appears to be faster than both the 32 bit and 64 bit versions of Vista SP1. Doesn't have the slow file transfer characteristics of Vista SP1. Gave up on Vista when SP1 didn't address problems that MS said were covered in SP1. Am seriously studying Linux too.

XP OEM

Strengths: Powerful, Mature, Reliable Operating System

Weakness: None - Even the 64 bit now has a good array of drivers.

When I found out that XP was still available, I jumped on it like a bunny on a carrot. I had installed Vista on my new AMD 64 bit processor and found everything I had (programs, hardware, etc) broken. With XP, everything worked again! If Microsoft has any sense at all, they will continue to support XP, and with the release of SP3 it looks like they are doing just that. XP is the answer to the Vista problem. Support XP... buy it.

Windows XP Pro with SP2

Strengths: Easy install, does what it promised, drivers available, wide rage of applications available

Weakness: Nothing particular discovered yet

Why should I enter "at least" 30 words ? What can I talk about an OS ? Could it be better ? - Of course. But we live in a world where inferior companies like MS rule. Digital Equipment's OS was much better, robust; and the company still went down. By the way, NT and the follow up OS are also based on Digital's OS, which was developed by Dave Cattle, - most people do not know this. It was done for the first RISC processor PRISM of Digital, which has never seen the sun. Enough ?

Windows XP Professional w/SP2 (OEM License)

Strengths: 128-bit IE7, no blue screens of death, secure and stable

Weakness: 256-bit Internet Explorer in Vista would be better & adding SP3 to OS is very much past due.

For users on dial-up, having SP3 included in product would be a great boon as it would save many hours of Windows Update sessions. The addition of tabs on IE7 pages is helpful for organizing online research.

Windows XP

Strengths: The only current PC operating system that works with my software and hardware.

Weakness: It's a Microsoft product.

The only current PC operating system that works with my software and hardware. Some of my software require XP or Vista, Vista is too slow, too resource dependent and is very poor in accepting older hardware IE plotters, printers, scanners etc. XP at least work with my current hardware and the software I wish to run. Unfortunately my engineering software won't run on a MAC.

Microsoft Windows XP Professional w/ Service Pack 2

Strengths: Quick, Easy, Stable

Weakness: No DirectX 10

Everything works with XP Pro. I've used now since 2001 and actually enjoy all the features. I haven't tried Vista yet, but who's to say I won't jump on that boat.

XP Pro SP2 is stable and if your moving from another OS, this is a great first step!!
