Windows XP home

Strengths: loads fine..key number is valid..no operational problems

Weakness: none detected

The product works well, however, advertising does not indicate it is for sale with a new PC nor does it indicate it is for the African/middle eastern market. This would be a problem possibly for someone purchasing it for use inside the USA.

Windows XP Home SP2

Strengths: Windows XP Home SP2 has some improvements over the earlier version and is the version most of us should use. There are more supported devices and the addition of a security center.

Weakness: Security is still a constant problem.

SP2 has numerous small improvements over the earlier version. In particular the Security Center and the fact that this version supports more hardware devices. The Security Center is especially good for neophytes, as it makes you pay attention to a Firewall, Anti-virus programs and Spyware programs.

Lets be a bit more realistic here. The initial version was released 5 years ago, it's the second service pack that's overpriced at three years of age.
That said, "Real OS" or not, it is an easy way for most users to avoid the fear of change, even if Macintosh or Linux is easy to learn.
Of course, with about 90% penetration it's also the most widely supported OS in the world, despite alternatives being more popular in limited segments.
Every piece of hardware I own and any game within the last ten years is compatible with Windows XP, and generally has the best performance in it too.

I am concerned over three prices for the same product(Windows XP Home OEM (new), Windows XP Home OEM (oem) and Windows XP Home Edition (oem))

I have to agree with you. I too have concerns about the different prices for the same product. In fact I asked the seller about it, and as of yet have received no response...

Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition with Service Pack...

Strengths: Works on the Intel Macs

Weakness: Windows XP that attracts spyware and viruses

I purchased this OEM version of Windows XP Home because previous reviewer had mentioned that he was able to install it on his Intel Mac. Sure enough, I was able to install it on my son's Macbook. Now he has the best of both world.

Windows XP Home OEM

Strengths: Cheap though windows has no strengths

Weakness: Still bloody expensive for a 5 year old piece of software

This is the ONLY way to buy a software license of windows. $199 for the full retail version? I think not. Unless you're using windows to play games that don't exist on a mac, you should be using a mac. Get a real OS.
