ATI Radeon 9600SE Video CardStrengths: Handels High resolution and 3D at great refresh rates. plays all the games with what is needed. at 128 megs ram it does the trick for all games. It is blazingly fast. Best for the Dollar. Weakness: It should have had a F connector for video out as well as the S video connector and the two types of monitor hookup. It would be nice to just run a coaxial cable to the TV to watch shows. I thought that at the price I paid I would have to come back later to buy a new card when I upgrade to faster motherboards and cpu's. This will not be the case I upgraded to the better ATI board and found that it wasnt any better than this board. This board is every bit as good as the higher priced boards and just as fast if not faster. To be flat honest out of five of us playing with three boards which shall remain nameless. No one could tell if this board was running or if it was one of the high dollar boards. All test were done using a veiwsonic PF815 monitor and a Samsung 21in LCD screen. No flickering even at max resolution which for the CRT is run at 1920X1440 No headaches even after hours of reading or game playing. Halo DOOM and all the rest run fantastic on this card. see ya on line drayegon the old man of the group. +50 and then some. 74% of readers found this review helpful. A pretty poor cardStrengths: the 325MHz core , DVI port , 9600 series , supporting almost all games out there. Weakness: this a 64 bit card , babe!! . OC unuseful . Extra-low fps! . defeated in 2006 generation of games . benches the lowest at 3DMark05 . I had bought this thing more that one year ago , i chosed it cause i thought 9200 won't be enough , nevertheless i couldnt bought anything higher , and because it was much cheaper that a real 9600 , and even i thought the SE here means SECOND EDITION!! 50% of readers found this review helpful. ATI Radeon 9600SE Video CardStrengths: It runs smooth! Weakness: None I think it would be nicer if it is cheaper, because this is too expensive as it is. And plus this card is pretty quiet and is not overheating like crazy, so I highly recommand this card to all users. 46% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Avoid this ProductStrengths: Easy to install, decent performance for the price. Weakness: Terrible support, horrible drivers, extremely buggy. In 6 months, I haven't been able to get a lick of help from ATI in regards to this product. Their drivers are simply terrible. Catalyst is the worst set of video drivers ever released. I've gotten graphical glitches in games (flashes on the screen every few seconds for seemingly no reason). Catalyst, for whatever reason, is unable to support 800x600 resolution. ATI offered me no explenation as to why. You may be thinking this is a very tiny resolution, but be warned, most full-screen programs run main menus in 800x600 resolution. The options for these menus will scroll off your monitor and you'll have no way to get it to fit properly. 0% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

ATI Radeon 9600SE Video CardStrengths: Direct X 9 compatible, easy to install, very stable Weakness: Not for the hardcore gamer, 128 MB but only a 64 bit card I bought this card a few weeks ago to upgrade a three year old 1.3GHz computer with 512 MB RAM from it's on-board graphics card. Installed and up and running with Windows XP in less that 5 minutes with no issues. It can run the top of the line games, but at reduced stettings. It's a great card for the money. If you're a casual gamer and don't need all the bells and whistles, I would highly recommend this card. 0% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

ATI Radeon 9600SE Video CardStrengths: Amazing video quality for MOHAA Pacific Assualt. Weakness: BEWARE INSTALLATION PROBLEMS. Even with an MS in Computer Science it was difficult to get the card to work in my machine. Had to plug in addtional monitor into slot to adjust settings. Once installed properly the card functions well. Getting the card to work in a brand new Dell Dimension 3000 with an LCD montior was a challenge. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

ATI Radeon 9600SE Video CardStrengths: Good 3D performance. Good image quality of S-video output. Weakness: In-box software needed upgrade. I bought this card to replace my old Geforce 440 (64MB) on my home theater PC. I was thinking to get a ATI DVI-to-component adapter to output component video to my TV. However I was supprised with the better S-video output quality than my old Geforce card. So I think I'll stay with S-video and save $40 on ATI component adapter. In addition, the card handled 3D game pretty well. It was smooth to play Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault, although the card couldn't support the highest resolution. Overall the card serves my needs very well and I'm happy so far. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

ATI Radeon 9600SE Video Card
Strengths: Top performance in 2D. Great value.
Weakness: Incompatability with some games.
The Radeon 9600SE deserves a best buy in value. Rock solid 2D and very good 3D performance for games. Although not the most powerful card, it will handle all of the new games to be released like Half-Live 2. However, there are some problems with certain games, such as the popular 1942 series! Many cannot play this game with the Radeon cards (until a patch is release). Online support is very comprehensive but their drivers can be frustrating to use for serious gamers. With rebates and free Half-Life 2 game, this is hard to beat!
