Samsung SyncMaster 192MP 19" LCD MonitorStrengths: Outstanding picture quality. Ease of setup. Weakness: Mediocre TV quality. This is a beautiful monitor. While it does not come with a DVI cable, I can't see how DVI would improve the image. The unit set up quickly and easily. The TV image certainly could be better, but having that feature is just a bonus for me anyway. I only use the TV once a week or so. 93% of readers found this review helpful. Samsung SyncMaster 192MP 19" Multifunctional Display
Today we look at Samsung's new 192MP 19" LCD monitor, a multifunctional display unit with the capability to perform as a monitor, TV (using its optional TV tuner) , or both with its PIP (Picture-in-Picture) feature. It accepts inputs from pretty much any video device you can think of (ie: PC, Air/Cable TV, DVD, VCR, Camcorder) and comes HDTV ready. This is the first multifunctional display that... Top

Samsung SyncMaster 192MP 19" LCD Monitor
Strengths: Good Screen quality, Much thinner and lighter than other 19' LCDs, TV tuner, PIP, both Analogue and Digital inputs/outputs
Weakness: No vertical(height)adjustment, Magic bright over-rated, Doesn't come with Vesa Wall mount in box or antenna for TV tuner.
I just bought the 192 MP off of ebay (brand new in box) for 620$. There was no way I would pay more than $800 for any monitor below 20 inches, but after playing with the 192MP I would definately say it's worth $800+. You get a top quality screen. The whites (light colors) are really clean and bright and the blacks (dark colors) are rich and well defined-no confusing navy blues w/ blacks here. Text quality and color brightness and clarity sucked on all the other 19 inch LCDs I checked out in the store (Sharps, ViewSonics, Neovos, LGs and some lower end Samsungs, Sonys and HP models) except the 192MP and the Sony HX-93. These two were by far better than other LCD screens. The HP 1903 model was good too but its screen was too dark and dark colors looked bluish. Sony's HX-93 was a good alternative but the TV tuner stole my heart on the 192MP. I also though the ergonomics was more appealing and practical than the bulkier, heavier Sony HX-93. The only advantage the Sony has is speaker quality seemed to be better.
Now onto the nitty gritty of the 192MP. The Magic Bright tries to simplify the screen settings the same way some boomboxes simplify equalizer settings to JAZZ, ROCK, and POP. But I found it more satisfying to adjust the settings the normal way thru the LCD menu. The TV tuner needs an antenna or cable box hook up before you'll get to see any TV. I felt at least an antenna should've come with the 192MP. The audio inputs require a special cords(like DVD players have) if you want sound to some from your computer thru the monitor. Again I felt that Samsung should've put these in the box especially for the $999 retail price tag. The moniter does come with a TV remote control(which I don't use at all since I can reach across my computer desk and change channels). The TV quality is really good providing you have either a great antenna or cable box hooked up.
The monitor feels firm and parts do not feel cheap and plastic-like (The Sony HX-93 and other LCDs felt this way.) You get good screen quality and flexibilty and also good physical quality. There is minimal adjustment and you cannot swivel the monitor on the platform. This was no bother since CRTs and TVs sit flat on table tops. In fact this LCD feels like a CRT/TV so I didn't feel any need or want for height or swivel adjustments. A secret plus is that the 192MP is much flatter than all other LCDs I've seen. It's very thin and much lighter in hand than you would expect. I don't play video games on my computer but flash and jpeg graphics and mpegs from the internet seems crisp and fluid.
Bottom Line: Even at $999 retail I highly recommend ths monitor. The TV tuner is only one of the many extras this LCD has to offer. Great ergonomics, Great screen quality and screen flexibility, also tons of inputs and outputs in the back (YES, The 192MP does have digital and analogue inputs/outputs. Just be sure to get a Cable Box or Strong TV signal antenna and input/output cords for Computer Sound (and VESA wall mount) and you'll be way better off than all the other LCD consumers in your neighborhood.
