Got a pair of these in my MBP and this thing runs like a dream. Much price was also alot better then the $800 dollars Apple wants for the same upgrade.

Nope. If this is your computer: http://h18002.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/11998_div/11998_div.HTML, You need old fashioned DDR memory, whereas these are DDR2. Memory compatible w/ the computer linked above are these: http://computers.pricegrabber.com/laptop-memory/p/43/st=category/popup2%5B%5D=9:210/popup3%5B%5D=20:208/popup5%5B%5D=110:206

High Quality Fast Ram

Strengths: excellent durability, high compatibility

Weakness: none so far

I bought a laptop recently that had 512mb of ram with Windows Vista. Vista is a resource hog--even the simple moving of windows and files around was a pain. I upgraded my laptop with 2gb of Crucial ram for $50 after rebates and now my system flies. This ram installed without a glitch, I just popped it in, it ran, and was reflected in my task manager. No system crashes so far, programs open fast, things don't get put into virtual memory anymore.

Crucial 2GB SO-DIMM DDR2 Memory

Strengths: Crucial quality, great warranty

Weakness: None

I would not consider buying memory other than from crucial. Their products are always as advertised. I have never had a problem with their memory, but I am sure they would stand behind it if I did. I purchased two of these to upgrade my new Macbook Pro to 4GB and they are working flawlessly.

This item is a single 2GB stick! Do not believe those review that say it is a kit.

Crucial 2GB PC2-5300 DDR2 Sodimm Laptop Memory

Strengths: Works perfectly. 2GB in one stick. Cheap.

Weakness: none

It works great along with the original 1GB stick in my X61. Memtest found no error. Good for the laptop if you need more memory since laptops usually have only two memory slot. And it is dirty cheap now compared to the price one year ago. However, for average users, 1GB memory is enough for everyday use.

memory to upgrade for vista

Strengths: good price

Weakness: NA

found this memory to upgrade my laptop for vista. 2G for $59.99 is not bad. Could have bought 2 of these, but vista 32 may not be able to utilize 4G. Anyway, it's a good choice.

Great value

Strengths: easy to use, reliable

Weakness: none

I got one stick last time. It works great in my Thinkpad T61. I will get another one when it goes on sale again. Highly recommended. Go get yours, and you won't regret it.

Review for 2GB PC2-5300 DDR Memory from Crucial

Strengths: Speed, ease of installation, price

Weakness: None so far

I bought this memory for a Dell D830 laptop with Vista. Installation was pretty simple for the first module, but had to remove the keyboard for the second. More of a design flaw on Dell's part though. So far, the memory has been doing great, improving speed and the number of apps I can run at once without noticing lag.

Perform as Expected

Strengths: Reliable operation Hassle free installation

Weakness: None

I bought this for my ThinkPad T60. This was my first 2GB RAM module, so I was concerned if this would work well with the existing 1GB module. I didn't experience any installation issue. The module was immediately recognized when I powered up my laptop. Like most other Crucial memory modules, it works flawlessly. I used to have 2GB, but now have 3GB. I must admit that I didn't realize that much speed boost probably because most application does not need that much ram. However, when I ran some memory intensive task (e.g., statitical analysis with large data), I could clearly see the difference. Less hard drive activity means faster operation (especially because my hard drive spins at 5400rpm). The price of this module has gone down quite a bit ($80), so this is not a bad update at all. I am, overall, happy with my decision.

Reliable RAM

Strengths: Worked on my Lenovo X61s

Weakness: None

My Lenovo X61s running Vista was extremely sluggish with the 1GB of RAM that came with it, and so I added one of these 2GB sticks from Crucial and it definitely picked up speed! Installation was super easy and Vista recognized the RAM upon boot-up. Note that most versions of Vista will not be able to recognize 4GB of RAM.

Crucial Notebook Memory Upgrade Kit

Strengths: easy installation, high quality, great speed, brand name

Weakness: none

This is an excellent memory upgrade kit for any laptops using vista with 512mb of memory. Simply pop in crucial's 2gb memory into the laptop and turn on it on. The installation process is that simple! Within minutes, you'll discover a new and faster laptop that you never think you had before!
Very impressive!!!

2Gb(2*1GB) Laptop Memory Upgrade Kit

Strengths: 2GB

Weakness: none

It is a 2GB laptop memory upgrade kit, I am say it comes with two 1gb memory sticks. Make sure your laptop has two slots available before upgrade and make sure your laptop takes DDR2 SODIMM, for which I believe most recent laptop models of any brands will do. Overall the performance is greatly improved after installing this 2GB DDR2 SODIMM kit.

2GB Sodimm DDR2 memory for laptops

Strengths: Stable and speed

Weakness: none

It is very fast and reliable upgrade since I removed the original 512MB memory from the manufacturer. The installation is very easy and simple. Mainly, the computer needed to be taken care of, not the memory. So far, the laptop running faster and smoother as expected. No compaints at all. This 2gb memory kit will work for any laptops taking ddr2.

DDR2 SODIMM 2GB KIT FOR LAPTOP

Strengths: DUAL KIT WORKS LIKE A CHARM

Weakness: none so far

I added this memory kit to my Sony VAIO laptop. So far, no problem at all. The boot and shutdown processes were improved significantly in terms of time. It is a 2*1GB kit. Most recent Sony Laptops have 2 memory slot and will accept this type DDR2 SODIMM 200-pin memory modules.

Great product and price

Strengths: Name, quality, price

Weakness: None

Crucial memory is a leading memory chip maker, so when I ordered this unit, I knew I would receive a quality product. Installation was simple and my Toshiba laptop with Vista recognized the extra stick for an upgrade to 2gb total without problems. Vista was notably faster with the upgrade from 512mb of memory the laptop shipped with. I am not overclocking this memory and it has been stable. Memtest86 reports no errors after a multi pass run after 24 hours.

Crucial 2x1GB Memory

Strengths: Best for its price

Weakness: None

Most dependable memory.
I used a previous memory which was OCZ and it seem like it was slow. This one seems really fast. Must buy.

Best memory in the market.

Cost effective upgrade for a new vista notebook

Strengths: good quality and compatibility, easy to upgrade

Weakness: none

Got this for a Toshiba notebook which came with Vista but with only 512Mb memory and a shared video. Memory upgrade was needed the day one I got it. Got this 2GB crucial notebook memory kit and installed it on my notebook. Now it runs like charm. 2 weeks into it and very stable so far. Its not the very best speed when I looked into timings but can not be happier for what I got for the $50 after rebate I paid.

GREAT RAM at a good price

Strengths: Works perfectly.

Weakness: None

Picked up this RAM for $100 per 2GB stick from buy.com. That is the same price as what most 2GB generic sticks are going for.

The RAM works perfectly in my T60p, but beware that even with a 64-bit OS, most laptops cannot see more than 3.2-3.5GB. This is a chipset limitation on the Intel "Napa" platform. The newer "Santa Rosa" platform does not have this limitation.

Quality memory

Strengths: Crucial has built up a great reputation for reliability and quality - and it shows here

Weakness: None yet

Ordered 2x2gb sticks for the new Macbook Pro 15" (released June 2007). Memory works as advertised. Took out the existing memory, installed the crucial sticks, and the computer recognized it right away and I was back to doing my regular tasks - only much faster. Gobs of memory is perfect for virtualizing Windows via VMWare Fusion and a total of 4gb means I have lots of room to play with.

Macs are finicky about memory - get the crappy stuff and you start getting kernel panics and instability. Crucial stuff uses Micron memory - best quality stuff for the money. Buy with no worries for your mac.

A must upgrade for running vista currently with 1GB...

Strengths: It's 2 GB memory kit (2*1GB) and this high capacity is the strongest sell point; small volume like any this type of memory (SODIMM) and easy to install also like any of this type of memory.

Weakness: none so far

I bought a Dell Inspiron 1501 about one and a high month ago with AMD Turion 64 x2 TL 60 and 1GB (2*512MB) 533 MHz memory. Well, it turns out that for this AMD CPU model (TL-60), its higher CPU clock rate (than TL-56, TL-52 etc.) does not have any edge when working with 533 MHz memory (See a very good review here: www.tomshardware.com/2...).
Also, I am running Windows Vista Business and at times the memory runs into to the orange or even red zone shown on the default Vista Sidebar gadget CPU Meter (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/...). I decided to upgrade my memory to 667 MHz 2 GB.

Here is the difference after the upgrade:
First, both my Vista and XP Professional (my machine has dual boot) boot and turn off quick faster, with an improvement about 5 to 10%.
Second, I tested th improvement using a very easy and straigtforward method instead of standard benchmarking method: turns on numerous applications to see how the system responses and what the CPU meter of Vista shows.
Result:

Before upgrade: the CPU meter stops at about 59% memory usage without loading any application. When launching about 10 different applications, 3 to 4 of them launching 4 to 5 times, the memory handle of the CPU meter reaches the red zone (> 80%) almost instantly, and some applications show "not responding"; it took about 4 - 5 minutes for all application windows ready to be used. During the process, the system was kind of freezing.
After upgrade: I launched following applications continuesly using an Application launch (an improved Quick Launch): 32 windows of MS Word, 7 Excel, 4 Access, 3 Apple Safari, 18 Internet Explorer, 1 Acrobat Professional, 2 Explore, 1 of each: Google Earth, Groupwise, WMP, IrfanView, PowerPoint, Calculator, Control Panel, Notepad. About the half way to Memory handle reached 70%, then 80% and finally a little higher. The machine experienced slight freezing but overall it responded well in the process. It took about 1 minute for application finished launching and ready for use.

Conclusion: the improvement of upgrade is obvious.

Note: this review is not for comparison of the memory (Crucial 2GB PC2-5300 DDR2 SODIMM Memory) to any other same specification but different brands. It is about any upgrade from 1GB memory to 2 GB memory, mainly based on Windows Vista OS.
