Absoutely fantastic!

Strengths: Beautiful screen, good battery life, recording, FM player, FM recording, video playback, fantastic sound quality

Weakness: Can't read display without backlight, 2GB limitations, WMP librarian, no wireless connectivity

This is a fantastic little player. It's beautiful to look at and wonderfully designed. It really should be the bane of the iPod. But many approach it with the one-handed iPod paradigm. It is all about its clicking ability. And it can be controlled with one hand after you break free from the paradigm that says a scroll wheel is the only way. This is a player designed to be seen; it's form follows that function.

Briefly, this player offers superior sound to iPod, offers remarkable flexibility in what it will do: flash, record, fm player (w/record), video and it's not tied to the bloatware that iTunes has become.

It's only real downsides: First, the iPod has it in one major way. When the backlight on an iPod dims, you can still read the display in a lit room. Not so with the Clix. It requires that you "click" it to come back. Of course, you can select to keep that backlight on and eat up your batteries but that defeats things a bit. I imagine it has to do with the color display, it must need the backlight to function. I also wish there was more memory out there. A 4GB is now available. How about an 8GB? The other real thorn is Media Player as librarian. I have problems with iTunes librarian as well. Their "control" over file movement is a pain. And it's difficult to clean things up after you've monkeyed about with files outside of WMP. They warn you it will be, but it'd be nice to see that improved. I suppose no librarian is going to be perfect, but iTunes proves a bit better than the current iteration of WMP. It'd be nice to see WMP provide some greater offerings for playlists as well. iTunes has them there as well. But that blame can't truly be put at the feet of the Clix.

The Clix is really a fantastic player. It offers great sound -- ditch the provided headphones though. It's got a ton of EQ options that'll make whatever you've got sound great. It's a beautiful display and it provides really decent battery life. To make this player perfect, offer up 8GB and a better librarian -- WMP needs to get itself together with Zune out there. Perfection would be achieved with all this and wifi :)

This is the BEST gadget I have ever had.

Strengths: Incredible video play, long battery life, innovative interface. Small and light, Good harmony with WMP11. Great sound Pretty album art Video conversion is easy with freewarre like Iriverter and Badak.

Weakness: 2G memory is somewhat small compared with today's current standard. Travel power supply is hard to find.

This is my second MP3. Before buying I just wanted to have one with album art support and did not consider any video play. I could not understand why people watch movies with such a small screen. However, after seeing Clix at Bestbuy for a while, I was so impressed by its demo animation.

At first, I was embrassed to learn how to convert movie for Clix. Freeware iRiverter was easy but takes too much system resources. Badak it the best video converter (www.robbiek.com/badak....)

Watching movie or TV series with CLix is so great. While waiting for lundary and bus, it is not boring any more. About four hours of video playing is enough for a short flight. A lot of people ask me what this is in airports, streets and restaurants. Come on IRIVER, you need more aggressive advertizing.

This the best gadget I have ever had. I highly recommend Clix to everyone.

Let the Fingers Do The Clicking

Strengths: Click screen, one of the fastest syncs with Windows media player 11, movie, music and picture tranfers are fantastic; games add an extra charm. All packed in a large two inch screen.

Weakness: Usb chagring, using a usb charging does not charge as fast as usb within the computer. Movies must be converted on the iriverter software thats not included with the CD package(only online).

This player would have to be the best mp3 player i have ever owned. There are not too many buttons to click since its cleverly used within the screen sides itself. The Bright 2 inch screen is very handy when it comes to movies and pictures. Though it would be nice to have a travel usb charge, another USB charger would do fine. The movie software has to be downloaded from the internet but once its done, converting should be a breeze. The sound quality is pretty amazing with custom equalizers and settings. This player over all has been easy to use and pleasant to play with. Anyone looking for something small, portable and elegantly designed with its fuctions at its top should definitely buy. It would be worth the money.

I am Very Happy with this model

Strengths: Small, long battery life, amazing looking screen, 2GB, USB 2.0, neat design, very versatile, great sound, tons of options available

Weakness: none other than I have had trouble charging the unit. You have to disconnect the USB when it is done charging otherwise when you turn the PC off the player remains on and looses it's charge.

I had the U10 - the Clix is a Gig more and better on screen interface. It is easy to rip to it using Windows Media Player or drag and drop files to it via EXPLORER - simple! The USB charge thing is a pain at times - I might get the cradle for less hassle. If you leave the USB connected to the PC and shut the PC down the charge stops and the unit drains the battery. So, just unplug it. This thing is really small and I like the D Click feature. Hey, with 2GB you can fit a lot of media - don't kid yourself.

Excellent little player

Strengths: Awesome screen, interface and excellent sound quality

Weakness: Battery life when compared to other players on market

My first mp3 player and am glad to have made this choice. The sound quality is excellent and it even has an SRS WOW equalizer setting in the equalizer options. Interface will be familiar to those who have used Windows Media Center. One thing I have noticed is that the screen does not scratch very easily. I have to admit that the screen is a fingerprint magnet, but those prints come off if wiped with a piece of cloth. The only complaint I have is about the battery life and maybe 4 GBs of memory.

In short, I am absolutely glad I made this purchase!

Good

Strengths: Wide Screen. Sound Quality is good. Easy to sync musics.

Weakness: Difficult to manage music list. Sometimes, button is making a strage sound Freeze often. Video takes too much battery.

Overally, i think clix is very good. The best strength is that it has a fairly long battery life and wide screen for video. I recommand this product. Clix is the best mp3 i have.

Mesmerizing screen, great sound, Video, FM Tuner...

Strengths: Screen, Sound, FM Tuner, Games, Video, Fast and Responsive menu.

Weakness: Ergonomics and layout. This is one of the major drawbacks.

Pros:
Screen: Beautiful and gorgeous screen is an understatement. I have not seen anything like it on a small portable device. Graphics are really cool and futuristic. Orientation can be changed from landscape to portrait and vice versa.

Sound: Great big sound with user EQ. Good FM reception.

Battery: Decent battery life.

Buttons: Dedicated menu, power and volume buttons.

Other features: I couldn't care less for the games, alarm, FM recorder, Voice recorder etc etc. But good for someone looking for these features.

These features are enough for anyone, not picky about ergonomics, to fall in love with this stunner of a gadget.

------------------

Cons:

Screen: Finger print magnet. Glossy piano black finish looks great but easily gets scratched and dirty.

Memory: 2GB non expandable is a bit too less for many.

Ergonomics: One hand operation is difficult if not impossible due to the layout of the buttons on all four sides of the screen.

The location of Next, Previous buttons on top and bottom of the screen are kind of counter intuitive especially if you are used the right and left locations.

Dedicated Buttons: Unless you use the portrait orientation, the volume buttons are reversed i.e + to the left of -. They are bit too small for big fingers.

Tuning the device off accidentally is very likely as the power button is placed next to the menu button. They are of the exact same shape and size.

Battery: Non user replacable. If you don't care about the warranty, I think you can replace it by cracking the case open. I'm not sure if iRiver sells these batteries separately or if you can find third party batteries.

Sound: S/N Ratio 90dB is not as great as 95dB like some Creative Zens. I think Zens are the best sounding devices of all.

Bookmarks: I couldn't find this feature on this player. A great disappointment for me personally as I listen to audio books quite a bit. May be available with a firmware upgrade.

No Bookmark? I currently have the iRiver T10 and it bookmarks, I love the T10 because it is compatible with Audible.com files, and according to Audible.com the clix is supposed to be compatible as well. Though if it doesn't bookmark, allowing you to resume playing where you stopped then upgrading to the clix may not be my best move. Thanks for the heads up, I will check with iRiverAmerica site.

Kicky Sweet

Strengths: Small and easy to use

Weakness: No easy way to uplead videos....can not expand memory

This is great for trips and fits easily in a pocket. The design is great, but 2gb is just not enough storage these days. Still, great value for the price.

iriver clix gen 2 is a portable audio player that succeeds the original clix that iriver released in 2006 to compete with Microsofts Zune, and Apples dominating iPod Nano. The clix falls in the compact flash player market that runs on solid state flash memory which allows for smaller players, increased battery life, but lower storage capacity. The clix comes in 2GB, 4GB, and 8GB variations for...

iRiver Clix

The Clix gets points for innovation. The 2.2-inch screen is raised from the rest of the player, and users play/pause, fast forward/rewind, and navigate through the menus by clicking one of the four edges. There's not much of a learning curve, but the front of the device has the tendency to pick up more than its share of fingerprints. The LCD makes watching video a rather enjoyable experience,...
