Notebook Cooler

Strengths: Quiet and perfect fit for 17" HP notebook

Weakness: None

I recently bought a new 17" HP notebook as a Christmas present for my daughter who is away at college. I had the notebook on my lap as I was setting it up; time, date, language, wireless connection, etc. My legs started getting warm from the processer. I put the notebook on the leather ottoman to finish. The ottoman was hot when I finished. I researched cooling devices for the notebook and found this one. I'm very pleased I bought the notebook cooler. It fits perfect, it's quiet, there is ventilation, and I'm sure it will extend the life of the notebook!

cooler master is the master of cool

Strengths: works well, quiet, nice design

Weakness: none yet

After replacing the monitor on compaq presario 15.4" laptop, due to an overheated laptop, at a cost of $700, I was looking for a cooling pad to help avoid a repeat of this costly issue. I researched the various options and decided on the CoolerMaster Widescreen Cooler, as it seems like the only one designed for a widescreen laptop. I read solid reviews and liked the stylish design.

So far, it seems to do exactly what I needed it to do. The laptop is much cooler than it was without any cooler. The fans are much quieter then expected and certainly quieter then those built into my laptop, which do not turn on as frequently with the cooler. A pleasant, quiet breezy sound.

Aesthetically, it looks quite nice and works well ergonomically.

Review of the NotePal W1 (Black)

Strengths: Very durable, unlike those plastic laptop coolers that have the spiral cut-outs for the fan that snap and break very easily.

Weakness: Nothing as far as defects, I just wish that the curved edging behind the fans were more straighter for easier mounting.

I am a professional DJ, I use this on the job, I actually purchased this from a local store for $49.95 + tax, then I saw it online from ZipZoomFly for 37.95 WITH NO SALES TAX AND FREE SHIPPING! in which I ordered it immediately, I realize that I now have to return the one that I have, but it at least allowed me 2 weeks to try it out to make sure it met my standards, this unit rocks, my laptop gets so cool underneath, it shivers...Buy this unit, you won't be sorry!

Widescreen notebook cooler

Strengths: Sleek design and fits widescreen

Weakness: none so far

The notePal notebook cooler looks modern with a sleek design. The fans are very quite and nice to have a on and off button to shut them down when the computer is down.
This fits my large widescreen computer, making it look custom made. This was a good buy for my laptop.

Too shallow for MOST laptops!

Strengths: None

Weakness: Too shallow--VERY sharp edges will cut. screen guards worthless

This will NOT fit my Dell XPS-M1710 laptop OR my Dell Inspiron 5000e (15"). Both laptops are OK in the width, but hang over quit a bit in the depth. The added weight of the screen when open can cause the laptop to tip over. The edges of this cooler are sharp enough to cause severe cuts. The rear side fan guard are useless. If you want to place this cooler on your lap, it is very possible to touch the fan blades. Although you would not get hurt, anything stopping the fan from spinning could cause them to burn out. But---really CoolerMaster--------this is advertised to fit 17" wide screen laptops. I know of NO 17" LAPTOP that would fit this cooler. VERY poor finishing work allowing many very sharp edges. All-in-all, a very poorly designed product! Mine is now going on EBay! By the way, it doesn't "COOL" worth a darn!

Good-looking notebook cooler, has serious flaws

Strengths: Well-built, nice black-finish all-metal body. Silent fans

Weakness: Short power cable (USB). Big and heavy to move around. Short depth for 17.1 inches and some 15.4 inches laptops.

The Notepal W1 Notebook Cooler R9-NBC-AWAK is a well-built and nice looking notebook cooler. It has a nice black paint job that is pleasant on the eyes. It also boosts a couple of silent fans that seem to be good quality. However, there are some flaws that make this cooler not highly recommended. The major concern is that it will not fit properly medium sized to big laptops. Although the wide screen format is a welcomed format, it was not balanced with a proper depth. I have a 15.4 HP laptop that protrudes from the back of the cooler almost two inches. The usefulness of a cooler with this flaw is seriously affected. Other problem is that it is completely flat, which that not allows for a good airflow. The lack of an adequate contoured pattern avoid the possibility of passive cooling, which is worsen by the fact that the short depth make your laptop rest directly over the cooler surface, instead of the laptop rubber legs.

NotePal W1 Notebook Cooler R9-NBC-AWAK

Strengths: Fit 17'' laptop very well Good quality, looks nice Quiet

Weakness: None

This is a good laptop cooler for 17'' laptop. It fits my 17'' dell very well. The quality is excellent, althought it looks a bit strange when you first see it. Besides, it runs quiet and did not make any noise, Nice cooler.

Excellent build quality, but not portable

Strengths: all aluminum construction, quite fans, dedicated on/off switch

Weakness: heavy, not for portable

This is an excellent product, very good build quality. The only disadvantage is its portability. It fits my 15.4" widescreen notebook well, just a tiny bit wider. It gets power from the USB port. It has a dedicated on/off switch, which I think it's better than antec's whose product doesn't have a power switch. The design is also very elegant, tilted a bit. The fans are very quiet, but the speed is a bit slow. Overall it is quite efficient at drawing hot air from the notebook. This is definitely a very good product for home use.

Great Cooler

Strengths: Fits 17" notebooks, Solid construction

Weakness: Fans do not help, Pricey

This is the best notebook cooler that I have used. It is the only one big enough to fit a Dell M90. It is made of thick anodized aluminum, which will not flex at all.

The extra side bonus is the tilted position makes the keyboard easier on your wrists.

The only downside is that the fans do not move much air, so they do not help with the cooling much. It really should have been designed to cool the aluminum like a heatsink, rather than try to blow onto the laptop itself.

Nice, but with faults

Strengths: Slick Aluminum look, good cooling, additional usb port on back

Weakness: Easily scratches desk edges if not careful, dimensions may not suit all notebooks

This thing works well with a Toshiba 15". Aluminum stay cold and fans are pretty quiet. If you have a notebook with front jacks for audio cords, think twice because you won't be able to access those jacks. The way that this cooler raises up the laptop is good for ergonomics. I'd buy it again.

17 inch laptop cooler

Strengths: Powerful ventilator, very silent

Weakness: Would need some additional support for the screen if you like the screen more tilted

For the money you pay, this is a real catch for a 17 inch laptop. The ventilators work well and they seem to be quite powerful; it also comes with a hand resting area, which is great if you need to type a lot on your laptop.
However, the only downside is that if you tilt the screen more than 90 degrees, it will start balancing the whole laptop, so you need to place something behind the screen in order to keep the laptop stable.

Finally! A 17" notebook cooler that works!

Strengths: Its low noise level, aluminum.

Weakness: I still dislike its shape.

I've had 15" version of cooler master notepal and it was a matter of time before I bought 17" version. With this cooler, I can keep my notebook's temp under 50 while load. As long as it works as good as now in summer, I'm happy.

Loving this cooler!

Strengths: Nice design, cool surface!

Weakness: 2 fans... wish the 3 fan model was out or the fans were at the bottom and top...

Currently, this works great. I love how easy it is to use my laptop and plug in my wireless mouse, but I'm not sure it is cooling my laptop the way it needs to be cooled, but I think the HD issue is because my drive is getting too hot and im doing too much with my dual processors :-P

I recommend this for anyone looking for a good cooler that looks professional and has quiet fans :)
