Great USB Flash Drive

Strengths: Small; Reliable

Weakness: None so far

This usb driver is very nice. It works great under linux. The timing cached reads reached 1748.15 MB/sec and the timing buffered disk reads reached 10.25 MB/sec. That means it's reading speed outperforms most of the other band (Iomega, Transcend, Fuji, Sandisk,PNY...etc). For writing speed, it takes around 4 minutes to copy a 400MB file, which is around 1.65MB/s. I will say it is not bad for writing performance( 4 out of 5 among all the usb drive band). In a nutshell, i am pretty satisfied with this usb drive.

Great Prodcut, Great Value

Strengths: Price, Storage, Speed

Weakness: none

This is a great product. It is the lowest price for a 2GB drive I ever see. And so far I don't have any problem with it. The transmission speed is very fast. It took less than a minute to transfer a big movie file from my computer to the drive. And it is very compact. So far I am really happy with the purchase. Highly recommended!

Good for the price

Strengths: Huge space, cheap and good quality

Weakness: It's slow.

I bought this flash drive for the low price and huge space. I would like to copy many portable open source application like portable Firefox, portable Thunderbird with me so I can check email anywhere using my email agent. The space is large enough to hold these application, but the speed is slow than my 1 GB flash drive.

For the price and the quality, it's a good flash drive

Very good flash drive

Strengths: fast speed, easy to use.

Weakness: plastic case, in case you care.

I purchased this flash drive because of buy.com's promotion. Have used it for a week, and have not found any problems. It has a fast transfer speed and I like it's green color as well. Keep it in my pocket all the time from now on.

Great large capacity usb drive

Strengths: Large capacity, fast transfer speed, small and fancy

Weakness: Only green version is available. Not strongly built.

Kingston is a famous brand, and I like its products very much. The quality is good, and the price is not high. This usb drive is easy to use. When plugged in, it can be automatically recognized. With the 2GB capacity, I can copy whatever I want. The transfer speed is very fast, even for large files. However, I don't quite like green color. It will be great if more colors are available.
Overall, I am quite satisfied with my first 2GB usb drive, and I strongly recommend it.

2GB DataTraveler USB Flash Drive

Strengths: Compact, Fast, Inexpensive

Weakness: Color

Flash drive capacity is getting bigger and the price is getting cheaper. This is good news for us. This drive is very fast in writing and reading. I paid with a good price after rebate, only if it will come in different color.

An Ideal USB Drive

Strengths: Small, easy to carry, nice design.

Weakness: None so far.

I bought it on Buy.com's promotion, the price was great for a 2gb usb drive. It is big enough to carry your movie files, this is the best part I love! It has a small hole at the end so that you can put it int your keychain, very handy. Transfer rates are pretty nice. You will not regret your purchase, if you buy one. Definitely receommended.

good 2gb usb drive from kingston

Strengths: 1. tiny size --- easy to take with 2. usb2.0 -- fast speed 3. huge storage space for student 4. great price for this product 5. carefully designed, I love the green color.

Weakness: The only disadvantage are: 1. Sometime it took a little bit longer to recognized by my laptop. 2. should a sign such as flashing light to display it's working status

In my opinion this device is great value for money.
I like it very much. Small, Smart, Fast and Huge memory space available.

The setup for this device is easy, you just plug in and away you go. I feel this device is best suited for college students who need transfer data frequently like me.

Kingston quality at a nice price

Strengths: - Speeds as advertised - Cap stays securely - Cap can snap on opposite end when in use - Great warranty

Weakness: - awkward keychain attachment - Cap can be difficult to remove (pro/con)

I purchased this drive because it was a great price, and I am a fan of Kingston products. They have good customer service, and the warranty is great. Below are some speed test I did with this drive. While it may not be the fastest drive, it performs as advertised.

WRITE SPEED

I just transferred 500MB of mp3s (94 files) in 118 seconds. Which equals to 4.24MB/sec.

I then transferred (1) 100MB file, it took 20 seconds. Which equals to 5MB/sec.

READ SPEED

Transferred same 500MB of mp3s to a new folder on my desktop in 48 seconds. Which equals to 10.42MB/sec.

Transferred same 100MB file to folder on desktop in 9 seconds. Which equals 11.11MB/sec.

Nice 2gb usb drive

Strengths: Small size and large storage

Weakness: None so far

This is a great usb drive due to a few facts. First, it is very small and each to carry in your pocket or on your key chain. Second, it is usb 2.0 and the data transfer speed is very fast than some old drives. Third, it is a 2gb drive and it is large enough to carry thousands of pictures, or even huge data. Of course it is stable so far, and there is no problem getting recornized by different computers.

Small, portable but big storage and fast speed

Strengths: big enough storage and fast data transfer

Weakness: no

This is a great usb flash drive. It's my first big storage flash drive, replacing my old 512Mb one. It is spacious enough for me to transfer my everyday data, even a movie. Now I don't worry about the size of the files anymore. The transfering speed is also very quick. It is also very small so I can put it in my pocket. Anyway it is a great usb drive, love it.

Slim USB Flash Drive

Strengths: Pleasant, sleek, and simple appearance. Has a plastic hoop at one end for attachment to other objects via a short string. Cover snaps into place, decreasing chances of loss.

Weakness: Cover is completely detachable.

This is a simple no frills USB Flash Drive. As such it does not come
with any pre-installed software or with the ability to set the drive
read only. It is sleek and simple in appearance. The construction
appears solid. The cover snaps securely into place and can be stored
on the back of the unit when the drive is in use. The sides are
ribbed making it effortless to extract the drive from a USB port. For
holding 2GB of data it is fairly small in size. I would highly
recommend the drive for users having basic USB flash drive needs.

Small and Handy

Strengths: Plug and play, small and sturdy

Weakness: A bit slow

The flash deive is pretty well-made and easy to use. Files transfer is on the slow side but is still in the acceptable range. 5 year warranty is nice. For its low price (after rebate), this is definitely worth getting.

Kingston 2GB DataTraveler USB Flash Drive

Strengths: storage 2 gig, plug and play, tiny

Weakness: none

This is very portable drive.Easily recognised by my computer. I copy a movie (>1 GB)from my computer to this drive and took around 2 min. I can play the movie directly from this drive connecting to my usb dvd player. There is no problem. I liked it very much.
The body is made of plastic which sometime feels cheap but overall I liked the green colour and built of this drive. Recommended.

Kingston

I am very happy with the product. Not software delays when I plug it, the capacity is great, the price is great, It came with a tiny, flimsy string to attach the drive to a keychain.

2GB DataTraveler USB Flash Drive

Strengths: compatibility

Weakness: size

This is a very nice drive. I bought it because I need to carry around lots of large files. This works great for what I need to do with it. Goes back and forth between Mac and PC without a problem. It transfers files quickly. I've had no problem with it so far. The only small complaint I would have is that the drive itself is pretty big in size when compared to other flash drives, but it's not a big deal.

Kingston 2GB DataTraveler USB Flash Drive

Strengths: Small, cheap. transfer speed is OK.

Weakness: cheap looking.

It is big. 2GB is enough for almost every thing. It is small, easy to carry. It is reliable. I used it for almost one year and never run into any problem with my data. File transfer speed is OK. But it looks cheap making, especially the green color makes it looks not so good.

Great little USB drive

Strengths: USB2.0. 5.2MB/sec write, 10.4MB/sec read Functional and small. Drives are color coded by size.

Weakness: Plastic case. Nothing unique about the looks.

My informal experiments yield a write speed of 5.2 MB/sec and read speed of 10.4 MB/sec. Nice small drive. Unlike other manufacturers, Kingston has kept the apperance of the drive fairly simple. The plastic cap doesnt inspire a great deal of faith. Each size (like 512, 1GB, 2GB) has the same basic white color with a different color band (green for 2GB). XP recognizes it very quickly as a flash drive; unlike some other drives I have where there is a delay.

Kingston 2GB Drive

Strengths: Small size, large capacity (2GB)

Weakness: NA

Tbe drive is very cute and comes with a string that can attach it to a keychain. Usually it takes about 1 minute to copy files of 500 mb to it. The reading speed is even faster. Also the drive looks firm, and there is not much heat after a long time of use. The drive comes with a long time warranty.

Great Drive

Strengths: small, lighweight, storage capacity,

Weakness: i think its ugly, i would like a status light

I have been using this flash drive for over a month now, it works well as expected. Kingston is suppose to be a good brand in storage devices so its no suprise that its fast and easy to use. The drive is ugly in my opinion, I gueess they focused on the inside of the drive more than the outside. This 2GB is an ugly green color, I think each different size has a different color, the 1GB was black and looked much better. I would recommend others to purchase this device, it holds a lot of information and is fast compared to another flash drive I use. These flash drives seem to be dropping in price rather quickly so look for this one under $15.

Kingston 2GB DataTraveler USB Flash Drive

Strengths: storage is big, meet my current need; plug and play.

Weakness: cheap plastic; not strongly built; design is so-so.

when plug in, the computer can recognize the drive; however, the drive name "Kingston" can not be seen with Windows XP Pro Explorer. So, I changed the name, e.g. "2GBUSB", then, the name appears. Do not know if it is a bug. It is not a big deal though.

2GB DataTraveler USB Flash Drive

Strengths: Great capacity, FAST!

Weakness: None that I have found yet.

The 2GB DataTraveler USB flash drive is by far the best flash drive I have ever used. Handles all my files and allows me to transfer database backups from my clients. Can't ask for anything more.

Kingston 2GB flash drive

Kingston 2GB DataTraveler USB 2.0 Flash Drive

Strengths: It feels solid, 2GB is a nice amount of space, and the size is good.

Weakness: Only bit that's less than perfect is that the LED light in this drive only flickers when data is being transferred, and does not stay on the entire time it is actively docked in the computer

The Data Traveler doesn't have all the fancy things some of the other drives have, and that is fine by me. It is fast enough for my backups, and also stores quite a bit of information. It does not have U3 but I do not think that is something I would use a great deal. It also seems that any of the U3 software that is remotely useful, is also not free. All in all for a relatively inexpensive simple solution for data backup and portability, this has worked just fine for me. The cap will fit on the opposite end of the drive when plugged in, however then you cannot put any type of hanging string or attach it to a keyring, therefore, I suppose as with others, the cap can be easily mislaid.
Another bit that's less than perfect is that the LED light in this drive only flickers when data is being transferred, and does not stay on the entire time it is actively docked in the computer. I liked the feature in the Sandisk cruzers whereby the LED stayed lit until it was ejected, this allowed me to know at a glance if my cruzer was ready to be yanked from the computer. A very minor flaw.
If you can get this drive at a good price it is well worth it.

Very good drive

Strengths: Easy to install, fast transfer speeds

Weakness: None detected at this time

This drive installed very quickly on my laptop. It detected it instantly and I did not need to reboot in order to use it. I copied several mid and large size files, and subsequently copied them to my hard drive and deleted them from my Kingston drive. Transfer speeds for all 3 cases was quick.

Very pleased with this drive!

2GB DataTraveler USB Flash Drive

Strengths: Compact, big capacity, low price, reasonable speed

Weakness: Green is the only color you can choose.

This is the 3rd Kingston flash drive I've bought. Never get disappointed with its quality and reliablity. With the $25 rebate, it simply beats all its competitors in the market these days. Good buy!

Kingston 2GB USB Flash Drive

Strengths: Very small and sleek, lot of space! Very good quality.

Weakness: The snapping cover design could be improved, and the green and white color combination should be changed.

My 2 year old USB stick just died, got this great deal just in time. Kingston does make quality memory products and hope this one will last longer. 2GB is more than enough space, now I can make a USB WinXP recovery drive. Hope the rebate comes through.

Kingston 2GB DataTraveler USB Drive Review

Strengths: slim but feels pretty strong, fast.

Weakness: the string that came with the drive is too short

This product is stylish. It is slim but feels very strong, not like my old PNY 512MB. Data transfer is fast. So far so good. My only complain is that the string/leash coming with the drive is too short. Overall a great product.

Nice, but slow

Strengths: 2Gb!!!

Weakness: slow

I bought it at buy.com, because I need some USB drive and this one is one of the cheapest with 2Gb. If it will be too slow for you, you can use it as a perfect gift.

Reliable flash drive with a decent 5-yr warranty

Strengths: Color coded for different capacity drives. Comes with a loop string for easy to key chain.

Weakness: None.

Some complain about hard cap cracking but I haven't experienced it so far with three Kingston drives. Huge storage is a plus. Access indicator and usage lcd display would be nice to have, but this could increase the price.
