Athlon 64 X2 4600+ Dual Core Processor

Strengths: Runs at full speed, but remains cool using stock HSF combo.Support for AMD Cool'n'Quiet technology.energy efficient at 65W.

Weakness: Only 1MB L2 cache option available for 4600+.

Good performance for the price. Has a vast array of motherboard support, from non-SLI setup to full SLI or crossfire.I built my box in anticipation of Vista, and running RC2, this processor doesn't disappoint.Games are now more lifelike. Has plenty of processing muscle to spare.I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to build a powerful PC but doesn't wan't to spend a fortune.

Fast and "cheap" CPu compared to Intel

Strengths: 65W, 2.4GHz, Dual, 64bit

Weakness: 1MB L2 cache.

I really don't have any bad things to say about this processor. It's Cheaper than Intel so right away it's better. Engery efficent chip with 65W. Nowadays most games require over 2GHz of CPU speed so 2.4GHz is just right. Dual 64bit is great for running Vista 64bit or XP 64bit. I do not like the fact it only has 1MB L2 cache when AMD could have had more here. Most Intel chips are now coming out with 2 to 4 standard.

But I say if you don't want to break your bank and starting to see you can still remain number one in the gaming work without having to spend every penny. Buy, use and then resell this CPU. Then buy the next standard.

Just right for home theater

Strengths: Fast cool low power

Weakness: not as fast as some others

This is doing a great job running my home theater pc. I use it to record and playback hdtv as well for a backup server, etc. It's plenty fast enough for all of that. If you want something a little faster, you could try the ado5200 2.6gHz version of this. However, you might be paying more for speed you don't need.

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ CPU

Strengths: Fast, Good Value, Energy Efficient, Runs Cool

Weakness: None

The AMD dual core processors seem to be a better value than the equivalent Intel CPUs. This is another good CPU available from AMD. It is fast, runs cool and is energy efficient. The included heatsink/fan is nothing special. If you are a overclocker, you probably want to use a better cooling solution. The CPU works great and I have no complaints.

Great Processor

Strengths: Fast. No conflicts. Seems to run cool.

Weakness: None so far.

I bought this CPU to replace an Intel Core 2 Duo. I was having all kinds of problems with that processor and/or the MSI motherboard in which I was running it. When I got rid of the C2D, I also no longer needed the giant cooling device I had bought for it. It's not that I was overclocking the system; I just couldn't get the Intel fan and heat sink to stay properly mounted on the motherboard. It all seemed poorly designed. So now that I'm not using that big fan device, my system is a lot quieter. With this AMD CPU, everything snaps into place, feels solid, works well, and I think it also consumes less power. There might ahve been a slight slowdown in one or two tasks, but I don't remember what they were and it was pretty minor. Meanwhile, I have no more of the pauses, incompatibilities, etc. that I was getting with the other system.

Good CPU w/ Green status

Strengths: CPU usage balances well and runs cool, w/ energy efficient at 65W

Weakness: 90nm technology, small cache, and the fan came with it sounds funny

I picked it because it has better performance than Intel CPU at the same price. Since it comes w/ EE, I didn't take much consideration on whether it's 90nm or 65nm. But it would be cooler if it's 65nm. Nevertheless, if you want to build a mid-range machine, it's a good buy for its price.

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ Dual Core Processor Cool &...

Strengths: 65 Watts Max TDP, Cool & Quiet

Weakness: Only has 512 Kb cache.

Great price /performance ratio dual core cpu. Total Dissipated Power (TDP) of 65 watts. AMD Cool & Quiet is great for HTPC. Only has 512 Kb cache. AM2 socket. Low idle temperature. Haven't tried to overclock yet but why would you need to?

Dual Core 4600+

Strengths: This cpu uses less watts than the similar 4600+ and produce less heat

Weakness: A little pricier than the similar AMD Athlon X2 4600+,

It's a pretty fast dual core with less heat produced. It's not a overlock chip though, so if you are looking for a overlock Cpu. Try the other one. But this CPU has excellent performance with reasonable price.

Good value for your money

Strengths: Cheaper price per performance than Intel chips.

Weakness: Less L2 cache than Intel chips.

This processor runs very cool for me, 35 degrees C in a very warm room. It also uses only 65 watts, so you don't need a very strong power supply to run it. Performance is on par with Intel even though it has less cache and costs less too.

Athlon 64 X2 - 4600+ Great for Vista

Strengths: AM2 Socket is great for quad core upgrade - Vista Compatible - Super stable - Low Power 65W - Runs Cool - Really great price.

Weakness: Not Too many. - Fast for a 65W, but the Intel Core Duo is probably a bit faster (E6600)-

I purchased this processor as an upgrade to an X64 Single core 3400. It is definitely much faster, and teamed up with 4GB of 800MHz DDR2, ECS MOBO and 7800GS graphics, this is a screaming machine for the price. The Dualcore helps with multiple apps, and background tasks. I can burn a 4.7G DVD in under 5 minutes.

For the price this processor is hard to beat, and plays all my games very well. It has never crashed in 4 weeks of use.

Affordable Dual Core

Strengths: Fast and stable, runs Vista smoothly

Weakness: None

With recent price drops, this CPU is one of the best deals in the market; highly recommended for those willing to build an affordable new computer to run Windows Vista.

I bought this CPU in a combo with Biostar T-550 motherboard and everything worked from the installation without any issues. This CPU/motherboard combo can also be easily overclocked (mine is currently running at 2.6GHz).

Great price/performance ratio

Strengths: Excellent performance for the price. 65W energy efficient model = low, low temps even with stock hsf. Good overclockability.

Weakness: None for the price. If you want a more powerful processor, you have to spend more money.

Finally made the jump from S939 (X2 3800+) to AM2 with this cpu. I had a mediocre 3800+ chip that would only do 2.4ghz on air stably; this chip does 2.8ghz with no problems on air with an aftermarket hsf w/ no voltage increase & it idles a few degrees higher than ambient. Performance is noticeably superior to my old system. This is not due solely to the massive increase in memory bandwidth (ddr400->ddr2800). No, it's not an e6600 or AM2 6000+, but it's also $100 less!
