Great monitor for the price

Strengths: fast response time, DVI, HDMI Ready

Weakness: None so far

This is a great monitor, widescreen, DVI, high resolution and fast response time. Excellet for gaming and video playing. For a price below $200, it is a very good choice for value. Just remember to check the unit in store before purchasing, as some people may not like the widescreen at all.

very nice for the price

Strengths: good contrast ratio, color quality and good deal

Weakness: lacking in ergonomics

This monitor is awesome, I have really enjoyed having this monitor because it was a great price and the specs are really good. Nice resolution for a wide screen and has a desent contrast ratio. There is no ghosting that I can tell with the 4ms. I would recommend to anyone considering this option

Great Monitor at a Great Price

Strengths: Wide screen format. 4 ms response time. 160 degree viewing angle. Crisp and sharp images. 1440x900 resolution. 9 lbs.

Weakness: No horizontal or verticle adjustment. Maximum resolution (1440x900) only works at 75 Hz.

This is a great monitor. The images are so crisp and clear. The one thing that bugs me is that there is no horizontal or vertical adjustment. This might be an LCD thing; as this is my first LCD monitor.

I did have one problem: the displayed image at the advertised maximum resolution of 1440x900 was overflowing off the screen. After searching their entire site, I could not find an answer. And after talking with technical support for 30 minutes, they could not find a solution either. As a last resort, we set the refresh rate from 60 Hz to 75 Hz and the problem went away.

With all of this said, this is one of the few 19" monitors on the market that supports a screen resolution width greater than 1280. When watching widescreen movies, this monitor outperforms those "square" monitors by far.

The price is competitive. Kudos to Samsung for making a great monitor at a great price.

amazing monitor

Strengths: fast response time, widesceen, DVI

Weakness: a little hot

I got my LCD panel from Fry's for $179.99. This is a perfect monitor with almost every features of the mainstream LCD monitors widesceen, DVI, high resolution, especially the very short response time, 4 ms, which is very rare in nowaday LCD. So this is a very good choice for gaming. My monitor works very stable at 1440x900 at 60 Hz. I don't know what is the problem with the other reviewer's minitor. Maybe it's the problem of the graphic card, not the LCD. But this monitor is much hotter than other LCDs. Anyway, it is a very good value for the price.

Samsung 940BW

Strengths: Easy Setup; DVI & VGA connections; Cables included; great value

Weakness: Stand is kind of cheap; Monitor is not that sexy; software setup is browser based

I got this as a second monitor when using my laptop on my desk. I only needed VGA for my laptop hookup, but wanted to be forward looking, so DVI was a necessary feature. All cables were included, which is nice. I basically plugged it into my VGA port, turned on the display, and ouila, it worked! I manually had to load the drivers, as they didn't load themselves. Matter of fact, the install was all browser based, so wasn't as easy. Made a few tweaks to the display, and I was good to go. The picture was great, and I liked all the opportunities to tweak colors (if I wanted to).

My only real knock is the thing is not overly "sexy", as a matter of fact, it's very basic, but not quite cheap looking. But it's a great price after rebate, so I can live with that. If it was an apple monitor, it would be double the price, and have less specs! ;-)

great

Strengths: response time, simple design, thin bezel

Weakness: not very adjustable

I'm pretty happy with this monitor. The picture is great. there were no dead pixels in mine, and only a little backlight bleeding that's only visible when the screen is black. One thing I miss though, is being able to rotate or raise and lower the screen but this thing has a fixed base. Oh well, it was pretty cheap.

good quality, but a couple faults

Strengths: Good color, bright screen.

Weakness: Driver problems! and backlighting

Both the drivers on the disc and Samsung's latest caused 'file not found' errors installing in windows xp pro. The drivers on windows update worked, though. Also, the backlight bleeding problem is quite noticeable while the pc is booting up, but generally not under normal operating circumstances.
