Windows XP Professional x64 SP2B with Vista Upgrade...Strengths: Stability, Windows 2003 kernel, fast Weakness: Hardware support is poor One must be careful to tailor one's computer to this OS, as the hardware support is spotty at best. I believe this has to do with Vista's arrival relative to XP x64's adoption; hardware developers decided to leave this Windows behind in favor of Vista. However, if the hardware support were acceptable, I think this would be a very, very good operating system, as it is based on Windows 2003, a stable and proven kernel. 100% of readers found this review helpful. It's now a pretty user friendly OEM purchase
Strengths: Stability, memory management, very fast
Weakness: Lack of promotion and foresight into the 64 bit age
Do not shy away from Win XP 64. Other reviews complain about lack of compatibility but if you are even a moderate system builder and do your research, you can build a fully functional 64 bit system. With Vista taking hold, companies are all jumping on the 64 bit bandwagon. I have had little to no trouble finding compatible hardware and software. Only reason I gave it 4 stars and not 5 is because I think Microsoft dropped the ball when promoting this OS. Have not used the Vista upgrade cupon as of yet. It says it is for system manufacturers only...well, I am now a system manufacturer so it better be redeemable.
