Quiet, efficient, simple design

Strengths: It's quiet. 80 PLUS certified. It has long cables.

Weakness: Not modular

The 80 PLUS certification means the efficiency rating of 80%+ is at 25%, 50%, and 100% load. Other power supplies that have a high efficiency rating, but are NOT 80 PLUS certified, may only be efficient at 100% load. At 50% the efficiency rating could drop to 70% or lower. Make sure you get an 80 PLUS certified adapter.

The cables were long enough to reach even the furthest of my drives at the very bottom of the case. It's not modular so any cords not used will have to be tied back and put out of the way.

This is a very good power supply and I will buy more in the future.

Really nice and quite power supply

Strengths: efficiency, quiet

Weakness: cost, support

I have been using this for more than 6 months now and I have found the power supply to be highly dependable, very quite and energy friendly. I can keep runnig my PC without worrying about high energy bills. The power supply was also able to handle the following:

1. Radeon 9800
2. Core 2 duo processor and motherboard
3. 3 PCI cards
4. 4 HDD
5. 2 DVD Writers

hope this helps

Quiet and Efficient PSU

Strengths: Efficient, quiet, easy to set up

Weakness: No modular cable management

This Antec PSU appears to be a very solid build and has performed stably for 3 months with very low noise and low heat. Multiple testing sites have reported and confirmed its 80+ efficiency. The only downside is that there is no modular cable design, and there is a lot of clutter inside a case (esp. for small cases) which could block air flow.

Nice Power Supply

Strengths: Super quiet, no voltage switch, has 4 SATA connectors, can be used with motherboards that have 20-pin connectors, nicely organized cables, hopefully economical in the long term.

Weakness: None that I can think of.

I bought this to replace a generic Turbolink LC-A350ATX, and so far I am very happy with this very nice Antec EA-430. Fitted perfectly in my case (XSonic Xtreme II X28-4W) and works flawlessly so far with my older Abit VT7 motherboard. Cables are very nicely organized, with plenty of connectors for a regular user. I cannot say how economical it is thanks to its 80PLUS compliance, but hopefully it will save some energy.

Great Efficient PS

Strengths: Efficient, powerful enough for most applications

Weakness: none

I bought this in my attempt to make an energy effienct gaming machine (an oxymoron, i know). With everything else I assembled, I'm able to run Battlefield 2 with full graphics at ~200W. Idles ~150W. Have had no problems at all with it.

Effecient and VERY quiet power supply

Strengths: 80-plus efficiency. Pays for itself over the life of the computer. Quiet.

Weakness: None

I powered on this with my current Dell PC and the difference was dramatic. This PS is quiet and runs cool. It's also very efficient. Should be able to handle any Quad core CPU with an 8800 GT video card with no issues.

Antec Earthwatts EA-430 Power Supply

Strengths: 80Plus, Long Cables, Very Quite

Weakness: Not modular

You cannot go wrong with this Antec PS. This is my third Antec PS and I feel the best one yet. It is rated 80Plus which will save you money on your electrical bill (something everyone is concened with these days) and Green so it is good for the environment. The cables are long enough to reach evey device in my case. It is very quite which is perfect for my HTPC setup. I wish it was modular so the unused caables/connector do not block air flow but you can't have everything.

Outstanding Power Supply from Reliable Manufacturer

Strengths: Very quiet; 80PLUS means greater efficiency and lower power costs- cable lines are long enough to reach just about any case

Weakness: more expensive than others, but still resonable

very quiet power supply that i know will last me years- have had many antec power supplies that have been very reliable
80plus certified to ensure optimum efficiency and less wasted power. highly recommend for anyone looking for a power supply! don't waste your time with cheap no-brand names. they give you nothing but headaches!

Excellent power supply for the cost

Strengths: Brand, efficiency rating, cost

Weakness: no modular cabling

Excellent power supply, very quite, highly efficient with 80 rating and environment friendly. I also found it to relatively light weight compared to my older Antec. I read online that this is originally a sesonic OEM which we all know if one of the best OEM brands. It comes with voltage autodetection but lacks the modular cabling which so important nowadays.

Very quiet and stable

Strengths: quiet stable efficient good tech support

Weakness: no detachable cables only 430w

I like this PSU very much. It's very plain-looking -- no fancy pictures or whatever, but works very well. Its internal fan is essentially inaudible, and the power has been very stable. You don't want this for your SLI super-power rig, but you probably DO want it for your HTPC or basic desktop.

"Green" Power Supply at a Great Price

Strengths: Rebate, Pro Green, Low Heat, Low Noise, Not That Much More Than Standard Power Supply

Weakness: No Sensor Cable, No Cable Sleeve on Every Cable

Big believer in the Go Green push. So when I saw this available with a decent rebate, I immediately jumped on it. I was actually very curious how this would compare against my Antec Smart Power 350. The Smart Power, while sufficient for my PC's needs, seemed to be producing too much heat and noise. My knee would sometimes get close to the air out of the Power Supply and it's quiet hot. Installation was a breeze in my Sonata - nothing out of the ordinary. Too bad there isn't a Sensor Cable - no way to truly gauge against my older Power Supply. My PC is an ASUS P4P800 Deluxe with a 500 GB Seagate drive, 2GBs Memory, CD Burner, Hauppauge HVR-1600 and an nVidia 7600GT.

Great PSU at reasonable price

Strengths: quiet, stable power supply, little heat, easy to install

Weakness: No modular cable leading to a lot of clutter inside the case

I replaced the stock PSU from a brand-name computer with this and it worked perfectly with very little noise and stable performance.
The only downside is that there's no modular design on this one, and the cables are everywhere inside the case.

Good quality basic power supply.

Strengths: Low cost (after rebate), good efficiency for a budget unit, 3-year warranty.

Weakness: N/A

Has enough power to meet most users needs. Good for slight overclocks and up to about an 8800GT graphics cards. For power users go for more watts. I was surprised that a power supply in this price range was 80 PLUS certified. Has plenty of connectors. Only 1 pci-e connector, but if you plan on running dual 8800GTS cards this probably isn't the ps for you;)

Great Power supply at a great price!

Strengths: -Price after rebates/deals -Quality Antec stepping up to Seasonic Quality & -Focusing on Power Efficiency is Important -Partially wrapped cables (24 pin main power)

Weakness: -Not Modular (can't remove or change cable config) -Not Sexy Looking for a show case

-I was planning a new build and so I decided to do some research on Power supplies etcetera. Well I was amazed at how much there is to know about power supplies.-
-----
-Things that were important to me, I have only a single PCI-E graphics card, and a new Core 2 Duo E6750. So I learned that finding the right size power supply is important...People often think they need a much larger power supply than necessary. By finding out what my components Wattage needs were, I was able to calculate that this power supply has a lot of extra headroom for me.-

--But it's not too large that it falls out of the 80+ percent efficient range. (which is like a bell curve). To little power draw on a 850 or 1000 watt PSU and you are running them in-efficiently. Which is something I am very concerned over (why throw money away to in-efficiency if you don't have to). Several sites have PSU calculators to help you find what your component's wattage range is. MOST PEOPLE NOT RUNNING DUAL PCI-E's are way over estimating there power draws.-

-I know there are cons (shorting, slight power loss) to modular cables, but my biggest gripe with this power supply is where to tuck all the cabling... Antec did a nice job of partially wrapping the main power cable bundle for cable management & looks but left the rest going commando. The case is not pretty also if you have a show case, but then I care 99% about the parts and efficiency of the unit not what it looks like.-

-So far I have seen great power readouts through the motherboard and software like CPU-Z. The unit has a single rear exhaust fan which has been able to handle the heat with no problem. My Antec 900 case has a fan that blows directly across to fee into the PSU's open grates.-

-My case (Antec 900) has the PS mounted on the bottom. So until I installed this thing I wasn't sure if the main power cable was going to be able to make the long reach. But it did that & gave me room to tuck it behind the drives that stick out. VERY NICE. The 4 pin CPU power supply was a lot closer, in fact to make it fit and be able to tuck it to the board (GA-P35-DS3R) I had to cut the cable tie of Antec's to get that extra two inches of pull so the cable isn't strained to fit. It mounts inverted and runs just fine.
-The Molex & SATA cables were able to reach to the top of the case and then some. Allowed me to use the molex for the case fans & the single Raptor drive I installed.

Silent

Strengths: Cool, quiet, reliable

Weakness: Modular cables would be nice

I've been running a system with the Antec EarthWatts EA-430 for about 3 months now and am very impressed.

Like all Antec power supplies I've used, the EarthWatts 430 is solidly built and heavy. They don't skimp on build quality or the internal components.

The EarthWatts line is compliant with the 80PLUS specification, an electric utility initiative to incorporate more efficient power supplies in desktop computers and servers. The "80PLUS" means that the supply, must be 80% efficient or better at 20%, 50%, and 100% of its rated load (wattage). This may not sound like much of an accomplishment, but it is not uncommon for electrical power supplies to be 30% - 50% efficient. The lost efficiency is wasted power (heat) that ultimately shows up in higher than necessary electric bills.

With so many computers on 24x7, an 80PLUS rated supply can save $30+ over its rated lifetime (4 years per the calculator on the 80PLUS web site). This may not seem like a huge amount, but considering that I paid around $25 after rebate, the savings in my monthly will actually pay off the EA-430 over time, making it cost me nothing.

I have both the EarthWatts 430 and an Antec Neo HE500, and I have to say I like the EarthWatts better. The Neo HE500 has a modular cabling system, but the cables are so stiff that they're a pain to route inside of my case. It's a good thing I could remove all of the cables I didn't need, because I can't see how I'd get them all bundled together and out of the way of everything else.

No modular cables on the EA-430, but the cables are sufficiently bendable to make routing of used ones and bundling of unused ones no problem.

The best thing, however, about the EarthWatts 430 is how quiet it is. I actually have my case completely open now (been in the midst of an upgrade for a few months), and the only thing I can hear is the Intel CPU stock cooler. Even when I stop the CPU fan with my finger, the noise from the EA-430 is just a whisper. Once I finally get everything put back together again, I expect to hear little else other than whatever hum remains from the CPU fan after it's deadened by the acoustically damped side panels of my Antec Solo case.

Powerful and stable Power supply

Strengths: very stable, enough cables and ports

Weakness: not enough power for SLI system

I bought this power supply because of its brand antec. And the fact told me that it is really a worthy buying PS, although it is a little bit expensive than the other brands. It works stably, my computer never got stuck. In addition, this PS has enough long cables and ports so that you can connect every component of your computer in a comfortable way. The potential problem is it is only 430W. If you want to run a SLI system, it might not be your choice.

EarthWatts EA-430 430W Power Supply

Strengths: High quality, performs well and uses less power.

Weakness: None.

I have used several Antec power supplies; they are built solid, work well, and I have never had one shock me, catch fire or damage the equipment it was connected to, like some other brands. I used the EA430 to replace a 500 watt power supply, and it handles the load fine. I did notice that the EA430 is somewhat lighter than the other Antec power supplies I've used, and there is no second fan; but I would guess that this is to reduce the power consumption. It's great that these power supplies are made to be more efficient and have features like active power factor correction. Before Earthwatts, it was difficult to find a power supply that had these features at a reasonable price.

EarthWatts EA-430 430W Power Supply

Strengths: quiet easy to install

Weakness: none

This is a very quiet power supply. So far I don't have any complaint about the sound it made on my machine. The wires come with this power supply are just fit and made it easy to be installed. I strongly recommend this one.

Plenty of Power

Strengths: Quiet; Powerful; Affordable; 4 cables for Serial Devices

Weakness: 430 watts may not be enough for some users

I purchased this because it was advertised to have low power consumption. This was put into a brand new HTPC, so I don't have any basis of comparison as far as energy consumption. However, the unit is quiet, and has plenty of power for my setup. I really liked that it has 4 cables for serial devices. Plus, Antec is a brand that hasn't let me down over years of system builds.

Good Litlle Power Supply from Antec

Strengths: 1) Does what it needs to do 2) Price 3) Low power consumption (it is named EarthWatts) 4) Quiet

Weakness: 1) Could be colored, modular, etc. like high-end power supplies, but not really a problem

This is a great power supply that has a lot going for it. It is efficient, quiet, and powerful enough for most applications. There isn't much else that's can be said about a power supply. Of course, it isn't modular or colored, but it gets the job done well at a great price. Recommended.

Excellent power supply with low power consumption

Strengths: 1. Low power consumption (tested using a meter) 2. Quiet 3. Long cable length

Weakness: 1. No modular cables but I can live w/that

I wanted to upgrade the power supply for one of my PC's which is always on. Since power consumption over 24x7x365 turns out to be quite a bit, I wanted a power supply that would complement the low power components of that PC.

This power supply uses minimal power when you PC is basically idle. It lives up to its 80% specs as I see that it hardly draws 100W of power when the PC is idle.

Great power supply for those on a budget.

Strengths: Reasonably priced, highly efficient, simple design, quiet.

Weakness: Not modular, would be nice if it had a little more power.

The reasons that I would buy this unit again - 1) It is reasonable priced 2) it's one of the quietest power supplies that I've ever owned 3) it saves money over the long haul with reduced electric bills due to it's 80% or better efficiency. It has enough power to handle 95% of the most common PC builds today. Probably not enough for dual video card setups, but certainly sufficient for most other applications. I would say the only area that can be improved upon would be the lack of a modular design. This not a deal breaker, it would just nice to have incorporated. Other than that, I give this unit a solid 4.

excellent power supply at an affordable price

Strengths: PCI-e connector, 80% efficient, runs stable, active pfc, quiet

Weakness: not sli ready, no modular connections

I was in dire need of a power supply for a computer i was building. I stumbled upon this power supply on one of my many searches and i'm glad i did. Its quiet and runs at stable voltages. For the price i got it for, i couldn't pass it up. I would recommend this power supply to anyone who's looking for a great power supply to run their system and at 80% certified efficiency, it'll save you money on your electric bill.

Super solid power supply

Strengths: super energy efficient

Weakness: some clustering problems w/ the wires.

Very power efficient with enough connectors to power several HDs, CD/DVD drives, high-end graphics cards, sounds cards, etc. Max power output 430W. Overall an excellent buy for the buck.

Solid PSU

Strengths: quiet efficient

Weakness: somewhat expensive

I'm using this power supply in a machine w/ a dual core opteron, and an nvidia 7950gs video card and it's done fine. Judging by the fact that the fan isn't running very loudly at all in this rig, I'd say it is has power to spare. Review have shown this unit to be 80%+ efficiency depending on output, which is probably above average these days.

Good PSU

Strengths: Relatively quiet. Cheeeap! Not too many watts. Runs all my components stable.

Weakness: Not modular. Doesnt have intake fan.

From what I hear these psus are rebadged seasonics. At this price point (lest than 40 bucks) they are the best deal I know of. I like that they are highly efficient and high quality. My only grip is that I wish they were modular, and had another intake fan. Due to the lack of intake fan, this psu gets rather hot. I've had no problems with stability thus far, but the heat does worry me.

Great Power Supply

Strengths: This power supply is great. Low noise, adequate for most desktops that are not hard core gaming machines, super clean power.

Weakness: None that I can think of yet

I bought this to replace my antec power supply out of a Sonata case because it failed. This power supply is quieter and more efficient and supplies 430 watts of power (80 watts more than the power supply I replaced). You will not be disappointed with this power supply.

Quiet and works as advertised

Strengths: Quiet, saves the environment, dual 12v rails

Weakness: only one pci-e connector

Antec's Earthwatts 430 power supply is very quiet, was easy to install into my case, and fired right up with out any problems. As long as you don't have SLI or some monster video card, I would recommend it fully. Comes with 4 SATA connectors and one PCI-E connector. Help save the environment and go get one!

High efficiency quality power supply.

Strengths: Uses less power and plenty of connectors.

Weakness: Could have been a bit quieter.

Less power used means less heat. Less heat is better for your computer. Less power used means costs saving because less electricity is used. The EarthWatts EA-430 power supply by Antec provides all of the above with "80 Plus" certification, which means it will perform at 80% efficiency for a load between 20% to 100%. With 4 SATA, 6 Molex, and a PCI-E connector(s), this power supply has enough hookups for most applications. Using a 120mm fan instead of the 80mm fan they used might have made it a bit quieter, but otherwise this is a solid built power supply.

Good PSU so far

Strengths: Nice affordable PSU. Plenty of connectors. Very quiet.

Weakness: None so far.

A solid PSU from Antec. The connectors are plentiful and the wires are long. It is said to be very efficient (though I don't have the proper equipment to test this). The air coming through the device feels cool; this is a good sign that it is not prone to overheating. Most importantly, it is very quiet. I highly recommend this product to anyone in the market for a new power supply.

Antec Earthwatts 430W power supply EA-430

Strengths: Works well, quiet, easy to install, plenty of cables

Weakness: Perhaps not powerful enough for power-hungry ATI video cards, or dual video cards

I bought this because it's supposed to be high quality, reliable, and stable, and also because I'm a tree hugger and this PS is supposed to be more energy efficient than most. So far I haven't been disappointed. My new build works really well. This has all of the cables and connections for all new connectors (see specs for details), it's quiet, and it hasn't given me any problems so far. You might want to get the 500W version if you're getting a power hungry ATI video card or need to run dual video cards. I have a 7950GT and the PS has no problems with it.

I bought it for $40, no rebates, from Fry's B&M in July. Lately it's gone as low as $30 AR...

Quiet, efficient power

Strengths: Very quiet (but not totally silent), good cable lengths, plenty of connectors

Weakness: None so far

If you want a power supply that will help you save your electric bill and the environment, this is a good choice. The 430W should support most setups that do not include dual PCI-e cards in SLI or Crossfire mode.

Good Power Supply

Strengths: Stable voltages, high efficiency

Weakness: Weak fan, short cables, basic connectors

This is one of the newer Antec power supplies that is built by Seasonic. Just like a seasonic unit, the voltage regulation is excellent, and efficiency is high.

Everything else is pretty dull though, from the cheap cables to a 80mm. There is some major cost cutting in the cables as well, with cables that are thin, unbraided/twisted except for the main ATX connector, and connectors that do not have an easy-unplug mechanism.

If the price is right, pick one up.

Way to go antec!

Strengths: High efficiency, basic power-supply; 3-year warranty

Weakness: No modular cables

This power supply works as advertised. I was replacing an el-cheapo Ultra power-supply that was causing random blue-screens on my system (three SATA hard drives, dvd burner, 8800gts, e6600 cpu). I replaced that 600W supply with this 430W supply, and all problems went away! Antec has a good reputation, and decent customer support. The 3-year warranty is nice, though I hope I never use it! I only wish it had modular cables.

Good Basic Power Supply

Strengths: Good value for 430Watts; plenty of cables; 3-year warranty; 80+% efficient

Weakness: Cables are not modular

I built an "always on" Windows Home Server, using Microsoft's new beta Home Server OS. The computer would contain on-board graphics (which would rarely be used), a DVD-ROM an plenty of hard-drives. I wanted an extremely efficient and quiet power supply, that had good reliability. I had read good things about Antec's EarthWatts model, so gave it a shot. I didn't need alot of power, so selected the 430Watt model. I have been extremly satisfied. The cables were plenty long enough to stretch to the furthest point in my Antec P180B case, and there were enough for my six hard drives (mixed PATA & SATA) and DVD. The fan is extremely quiet, and I barely know the PSU is even on! When I tested the supply before building the computer, all voltages were within advertised tolerances. I would recommend this supply highly for anybody building a basic computer.

The only knock is that it doesn't have modular cables. I have to stuff the unused ones under the supply. Also, if you ever need Antec's warranty, they don't do cross-shipment, so you have to send the supply in first, then wait for them to send the replacement. This means your system is down in the meantime (about 2-week total turnaround, including shipping), or you need to keep a spare power-supply around (a good idea). Note that I have not had issues with this PSU, but I have with a previous cheap Antec SP-350W unit that came bundled with a computer case.
