Linksys EtherFast BEFSR81 Broadband RouterStrengths: Easy to set up with Zoomtown (Cincinnati aDSL). Decent setup interface and price. Weakness: Large. Port numbers not easily identified from front. I got this router after breaking a Netgear router over my knee trying to get it to work with Zoomtown DSL. The Linksys set up a lot easier and is working fine. I am using it on a network using dynamic IP addressing. I bought another one for the other office's network I manage, which uses static IPs. It has not worked as well as I had hoped for static routing. 77% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Linksys EtherFast BEFSR81 Broadband Router
Strengths: Easy set up
Weakness: No IP by Mac address, not good for internet games
It took me months to find the downside of this product, but once it was discovered it was a killer. After having lots of problem with internet games, I narrowed down the problem to having this as a router. If I connect directly to the cable modem, no problems. If I go through this router, I will get disconnected within a few minutes. Another buddy of mine with the same router also has the same problem. Linksys support wouldn't even respond.
I also miss being able to assign IP addresses in the DHCP server by MAC address of the network card.
