Great Mouse, Might Cause Problems if you Share a PC...

Strengths: Precision, Comfort, Design, Customizability, Works like a standard mouse under linux (plus glowing razer logo)

Weakness: Upgrade the Firmware to once you purchase; default firmware can cause problems with some games! No advanced settings or profile support is available under Linux.

I bought this mouse in advance of a new PC I'm saving up for. I wanted to have a decent gaming mouse. I have no prior expirence with gaming mice and am a moderate PC gamer.
--
First Impressions:
Right out of the box this mouse looks sweet. Once it's plugged in to a PC the scroll wheel starts lights up and the Razer logo fades in and out. It has a very good ergonomic design that feels very comfortable. The Teflon feet slide very well on any surface, no mousepad is required for smooth operation.
--
Performance:
Right off the bat it seemed kind of awkward using it. The mouse was overly sensitive and I would often accidentally close windows when I tried to maximize them. I popped in the CD and installed Razer's proprietary driver software.

I was able to bump down the DPI one notch and it worked fine. However, this was still too sensitive for others in my family. There is a profile switching button on the bottom of the mouse to switch between settings. This allowed my family to operate it at a comfortable setting while I could bump it up when I was playing games.
--
Gaming Test:
I tested this mouse with Battle Front: II. It didn't feel quite right and I didn't notice any advantage over a standard mouse. Whenever I clicked the middle mouse button to use my scope, the mouse would behave erratically and have me aim at the ground. This was a dealbreaker for me. I googled for about half an hour looking for a solution to this problem. I came up with nothing.

Seeing a driver update was available on Razer's website [www.razerzone.com...], I proceeded to upgrade the driver and the mouse's firmware (yes, this mouse does have its own firmware). This fixed all problems with erratic movement and made general control feel better.
--
Overall:
If this mouse had a few more buttons (the death adder has only 5: standard left/right, middle scroll, and two on the side) and the default firmware/drivers worked better, I would give this mouse a 5/5. The firmware can obviously be fixed, so if the 5 button design doesn't bother you, I'd recommend you pick up this mouse.

The best mouse out there right now

Strengths: Long Cable, Gold Connector, Ergonomic Right-Handed Design, 1000 Hz Polling Rate, 5 Programmable Buttons, 3G Laser for Awesome Tracking, Great Control, Perfect Control up to 3.92 m/s

Weakness: Slightly Curved Bottom with just adequate Teflon feet, Sides are made with shiny plastic that smudges easily and eventually develops blemishes that you need to clean constantly

Even though there are a few cons to this mouse, this is the best mouse I have ever used and was definitely worth the fifty dollars I payed for it. I switched to this mouse from a Razer Diamondback, which breaks easily, and it took me about a week to adjust to the curve of the mouse, but when I did, it definitely felt more natural in my hand and my movements felt more precise in game. It provides excellent tracking and its wheel is also very good because it has small indents in it so that you can move exactly one notch every time when you need to. However, for some mouse pads you might have to buy extra Teflon feet due to the slightly curved bottom. However, if you get past that you'll love this mouse whether you're a gamer or just use it for image design and office applications. I highly recommend this product and it was worth every penny.

Razers are an acquired taste

Strengths: Responsive, sensitive, smooth motion, and good software options

Weakness: Erratic performance at times

Razer mice are an acquired taste. The other alternative for gamers are the mice from Logitech. Razer mice tend to be ambidextrous and lightweight, while Logitech ones have more heft and are solely for right-handed gamers. Make sure to try both before buying.

The DeathAdder is one of the newer additions to the Razer lineup. It also continues Razer's current trend of making right-handed mice.

The mouse is sensitive, as expected, and the configuration options for it is good, as is typical of Razer. Some people complain that the dedicated profile button is hard to reach (it's under the mouse), but I don't have issues with it since I rarely switch profiles mid-game. The software allows you to assign another more accessible button to profile switching. However, I don't see why Razer couldn't have put the profile switch button in a more accessible location.

I am having problems with erratic performance. The mouse seems to go to sleep and takes a while to resume functioning. Also, occasionally, I get random button clicks when moving quickly. I'm still trying to determine if this is a bad interaction with my KVM or a Razer issue.

So far, I have no regrets though. I'd recommend this mouse.

It's a thing of beauty

Strengths: Excellent tracking, nice feel, and pretty.

Weakness: No cordless version; Razer doesn't make them.

Let me start of by saying that I'm a gamer. One that doesn't care for a ton of buttons on my mouse. I'm a minority, I know. I've owned them, but I hardly ever use them all. That's what a keyboard is for, right?
This is my favorite mouse, ever. I've been a dedicated Logitech mouse user for 10 years now. I've tried others, but I usually end up not liking them, mainly because Logitech made a superior mouse. The Razer DeathAdder has made me a convert.
I've known of Razer's mice since the company first released the Boomslang. I just never liked them after the Boomslang. My problem is I like larger mice. Mice with wide bodies that fit well in the palm of my hand. This mouse has perfect countours for me. It also has a sort of rubbery surface on top. It seems slicker than the plastic on the sides. I've never had a problem with it, and it feels SO good.
The Teflon feet make the mouse glide along nearly any surface with absolute ease.
The mouse is optical but provides very fast and accurate tracking on most surfaces. The included software makes it a snap to set up different profiles that you can use for different games and software.
One of the nicest things about the Razer mice is that you can pretty much push anywhere on the left and right mouse buttons and it will register the click with no problem, even on the edges.
What else can you say about a mouse?
The DeathAdder makes the pointer go where I want it to go, as slow or as fast as I want with no on-screen stutter.
I did have an issue or 2 with this mouse. After about 3 weeks of use the mouse wheel started to squeak every time I used it. It sounded like a straw moving in a plastic lid. Also, the bottom of the mouse got scraped up pretty bad from using it on a FLAT surface. For some reason, the bottom is slightly uneven. It seems that this is/was an issue with this mouse. Luckily, Razer replaced it with no problem, other than stocking issues(It's a popular mouse and they sell out of inventory pretty quick). I have used my new one for 3 weeks now and am happy to report there's no squeak with this one and the bottom is as shiny as the day I took it out of the box. So maybe the uneven issue has been fixed with the latest batch of mice. Even so, I'm still glad I bought the DeathAdder.

Nice mouse but expensive

Strengths: very fast response time

Weakness: No driver for ps2 connector

I have this mouse shared on two machines with a switch. But the driver does not support the mouse in ps2 mode only usb mode. Had to get a usb convertor to make it work. It is kind of an expensive mouse considering the alternative mice that are available.

Move Over Logitech

Strengths: Incredibly comfortable design with a good grip. Very precise and fast. Designed for medium/large hands with perfect button placement. Cool blue lights.

Weakness: Weight not adjustable. Location of profile switch. Skinny wires. Loud buttons.

Having used Logitech mice for many years now, I was skeptical I would find a competitor who could make a better mouse. So I decided to try out several mice at a local electronics store. At first I found myself leaning towards the Logitech MX518 mouse as my preferred choice, but once I came across the Razer DeathAdder, I knew computing would never be the same. The mouse has quite possibly the most comfortable grip and feel to it. It contours to your hand shape and positions your fingers perfectly on the buttons. The precision and speed is unparalleled right out of the box, but if you choose to install the included software, you can fine tune it even further. There are two LEDs that glow on the mouse, but can be turned off if desired. Despite its incredible feel, it does have a few limitations. First, it is a fairly light mouse compared to other mice on the market and there is no way to increase the weight. Second, there is a way to toggle through different speed profiles on the mouse, but the button is located on the bottom of the mouse. Finally, the buttons are fairly loud when clicked which can become an irritation for some people. If you can gloss over these limitations, you will enjoy one the best mice ever conceived.

The best mouse for CS I have ever used

Strengths: Ultra precision, well hand fitted

Weakness: none so far

In one simple sentence, this mouse is the best of the best.
The mouse I have ever own includes Logitech MX310, 510, G5, G7, Microsoft IE3.0. But for cs purpose, this is the best I have used. You have to touch it to feel it. The pad I am using with it is Razor exact mat. I had QCK+ but I use it with IE3.0 in SC to get the best performace out of it.

One of, if not the best gaming mouse available.

Strengths: Excellent tracking, speed, and comfort. Good looking, long cord, rubberized top.

Weakness: The sides aren't rubberized like the top for some reason. The firmware has issues installing under Vista. The feet are flimsy, and due to their thickness, or lack their of, the mouse actually rubs slightly on the bottom.

Comfort – Very comfortable mouse for right handed players. The top is rubberized, which feels and works great. For some reason though they didn't rubberize the sides of the mouse, which seems odd, and is a little annoying. The overall shape is very similar to the IE3.0 mouse, which I had used for nearly 5 years I believe.
--
Installation – Installation was easy, just plug and play for the most part. You can install the razer drivers so you are able to setup different profiles and settings, but this isn't necessary to use the mouse. I ran into a problem upgrading the firmware for the mouse on Vista 64-bit, and the official website directions were not at all helpful. The cord is also nice and long.
--
Overall - This is the best mouse available out of the box for low sensitivity players. Most mice run into tracking issues when they are moved very fast. For players who have their sensitivity set very high this isn't a problem, as they tend not to move the mouse over a large area very quickly. For low sensitivity players like myself though, some mice start to apply negative/positive acceleration, or completely spaz out all together when moved too quickly.

The Deathadder doesn't have this problem, as it has prefect tracking up to incredibly high speeds. It's possible to get other, much less expensive mice to track as well as the Deathadder by changing your USB polling rate, but this caused adverse effects with my IE3.0. Also, if you play in tournaments you aren't allowed to change the USB polling rate.

Razor Rocks

Strengths: Quality

Weakness: None

This mouse is AWESOME. The quality of construction shows in both the feel of the surface and the solid notching on the scroll wheel as you roll down web pages. The Illumination is VERY COOL as well.

My all time favorite mouse

Strengths: - Flawless tracking, - Limitless ability to control the speed and sensitivity of the mouse, - Bar none, the absolute best feel and sensitivity to pressure for all buttons of any mouse I've ever used

Weakness: - Doesn't have many buttons, which for a mouse this customizable is a real shame

I upgraded from the Diamondback to this mouse because of all the great reviews I read, and they weren't wrong! For right-handed users, this has got to be one of the best mice on the market today. The look and feel of this mouse is absolutely flawless. The buttons are just sensitive enough to require only a light touch, but are solid enough that you won't accidentally press the button when you don't want to (as I did often with my Diamondback). I would also add that the eXactMat by Razer goes perfectly with this mouse, and I can even enjoy the Speed side of the mat with this mouse because it moves so solidly and precisely, even over a low friction surface. I've made my top side button into the On-The-Fly Sensitivity button, which gives me the ability to quickly go from fast to precise in games where it is necessary and it works great. Trust me, if you've never owned a gaming mouse, this will be the best performance upgrade you can get for around fifty bucks!

Razer DeathAdder

THE GOOD: The Razer DeathAdder gaming mouse has high accuracy and includes excellent customization software, and two responsive thumb-side buttons (righties only). THE BAD: No Vista driver despite claim of support on the box; no dedicated button for cycling through DPI settings on the fly. THE BOTTOM LINE: Razers DeathAdder gaming mouse is a powerful accessory for fans of 3D shooters and others...
