A high-quality power supply that delivers

Strengths: Great build quality (heavy too), goodlooking, plenty of consistent power

I bought this to replace an older Antec power supply that did not have the newer ATX motherboard connection. The quality of this power supply was immediately apparent when I took it out of its box. The wires are wrapped in plastic mesh that helps to organize the layout of the wires and increase airflow through the case (a must, considering the cooling requirements of newer, high-performance hardware). This PSU is very pleasing to look at, with its glossy black finish. And, most importantly, it performs very well. The power it delivers is very stable and has given me system uptimes of over 40 days.

I would definitely purchase another one of these again if I needed a new powersupply.

OCZ Powerstream 520W Power Supply

Strengths: Rails hold voltage extremely well, rock solid, and nice looking design

Weakness: None

If you are looking to overclock your system and push it to its limits, this is the PSU for you. It holds the 12V rails extremely well during full load. The outer casing on the unit is a beautiful crome finish. Has every connector needed for new types of motherboards. Highly recommended

OCZ Technology PowerStream 520W Power Supply With...

Strengths: Best Warranty. Quiet. Sleek. Tidy wiring. Adjustable and Reliable.

Weakness: Absoulutely NONE!

The OCZ PowerStream 520 is without a doubt one of the highest quality PSU's I've ever placed in my system. I purchased the power supply not only because it had rave reviews, but because the Antec Neo-Power I had prior was not functioning very well with my MSI Neo2 Platinum motherboard. Apparently the dual twelve volt rails is a problem that isn’t widely published. In either case, its not an issue any more and the Power Stream is a workhorse and keeper, but more importantly, it is extremely quiet and efficient. The PSU itself has an eye-catching nickel-plated chrome finish and boasts green exhaust fan LED’s.

What’s more is the reliable power you obtain from the OCZ, unlike most other PSUs. Not only is that power reliable, each of the three positive rails is adjustable! You get a bit of future-proofing, due to the fact that the OCZ PowerStream PSU is already BTX-compliant.

The pre-sleeved and neatly twisted wiring that is included helps keep my case tidy, which increases air flow through the case.

OCZ is also one of very few companies that have a warranty of any kind on their PSU, let alone a total of five years worth of warranty coverage!

Mmm.....power......

Strengths: Stable, quiet under load, cables sleeved, mirror finish.

Weakness: Heavy.

This is, by far, the best power supply I have ever used. I have it feeding an Athlon 64 4000+ system with a 7800 GTX, 2 hard drives, and 2 optical drives. Even after playing games for a few hours, this PSU remains faily quiet and cool. I say this in comparison to my daughter's computer with a ThermalTake Butterfly PSU that sounds like a hair dryer when it's under load. The wiring is neatly sleeved, which keeps things tidy inside the case. When I first received the box, I was surprised just how heavy it was. It probably weighs as much as those $300 eMachines. :-) This is the only downside I see to this PSU since it is for a system that will be lugged to LAN parties from time to time.

Stable BEAST

Strengths: Looks, Power, Stability, Adjustability, Quiet.

Weakness: Green LED fan (I hate green).

Needed a good overclocking worthy PSU. Finallaly hit the limit of my older 400W Fortron unit. Now in a pretty well overclocked setup this PSU allowed me to get another 100+MHZ higher CPU clock without any additional heat. Everyhting is nice and stable and runs flawlessly. Rails are dead on from the factory, but the rails are independantly adjustable if I ever need to tweak it a little.

I like the load sensing fan speed control in this OCZ over a temp sensing one. This has helped me keep my case and core temp the same while hitting higher clock speeds.

This powers my system with plenty in reserves.

Price was a little on the high side, but it's worth the cost if you need the power and the 3 year Powerswap warranty can't be beat. Then another 2 year limited warrant on top.

OCZ 520W PSU

Strengths: Very heavy duty power supply. Cable length sufficient to reach to the ends of the tallest cases. Fan noise is non- existent. Voltages very stable.

Weakness: None that I have found yet.

This is definatly the best power supply I have ever owned.
The chrome finish looks very sharp. The wrapped cables are very heavy duty. It is very quiet. If it was not for the LED light, I would not even know it is on.
It runs my system without any problems.

Highly recommended.

Strengths: Great lighting and sleek looks. Great stable power output. Came with a lot of connectors, even for SLI and many different types of motherboards.

Weakness: A bit long in length on my case, but my case is a stock HP micro-atx.

Only one problem, right when I installed it, it powered up, then shut off, then problem repeated for about 4-5 more times. Then, I removed the motherboard connection and put it back in, then worked fine.

The voltage adjuster is a great addition, works perfect.

OCZ Technology PowerStream 520W Power Supply With...

Strengths: Adjustable rails, flawless under load, and all of the connectors you'd need.

Weakness: Pricey.

Backed by OCZ's rather unbeatable warranty, and labeled editor's choice by the Tech Report, I really felt I couldn't go wrong. Measuring the rails under load with a multimeter demonstrated that the Powerstream has ample reserves--indeed, no rails have measured low. I plan to experiment a little with the adjustable rail to up my memory voltage on an NF4-Ultra so I can avoid the 4v jumper, which few other supplies would allow me to do. It is expensive, but it should last a number of years and at least I'll know that any problems I have aren't due to a lack of power.
