Best Little Camera

Strengths: Autofocus, RightLight 2, RightSound, Size, Carl Zeiss Lens, Fast Microcontroller, Pouch, Desktop Stand.

Weakness: Price, No GNU/Linux support, Avatar Software

AUTOFOCUS:
Very good feature. Logitech is the only webcam manufacturer that produce Autofocus webcam. It's really good at detecting which area to focus on. The only down side is that if you want manual focus you have to adjust it digitally meaning using the sidebar in the computer. This can be a good or bad thing depending on preferences.

CARL ZEISS LENS:
This is a truly nice feature of this camera because this lens is usually place on much more expensive camera. Combine this with the autofocus feature and you will get ultra crisp picture and video

RIGHTLIGHT:
This is Logitech's own software. It's really nice to have because it boost the light without a light source and it gets it pretty well. I think if they have this feature in a digital camera, it would be really nice. The only down side is that it uses your computer's CPU and the CPU of the webcam to do so, so video would be slightly slower if you have a slow computer

RIGHTSOUND:
Again Logitech's own software. Very Nice. My parents said that they can hear me perfectly even better than my cellphone voice when using this webcam mic. I didn't notice any slow down of my computer when using this feature unlike the RightLight 2 technology.

SIZE:
This is a perfect size camera. It's ultra small and very nice looking. The icon picture might make it look large, but in reality, it's really small and compact.

DESKTOP STAND:
This is perfect because you do not have to clip the camera to the top of my LCD notebook. Plus I get to move the camera around freely without moving my LCD screen.

FPS:
Yet another benefit of this camera. I had a cheap 25 bucks camera and the fps on that is horrible. I would get 15fps on 640x480 resolution. But with this camera now, I can get a clean 30fps at that resolution. I would get 20fps at 800x600 resolution and 15fps at 960x720(I think this is right) resolution, which is considered HD video. I would also get 5fps at 1600x1200. But that is still really good because it's like getting 5fps on a 2MP camera which is very good considering it's a webcam. Note that all the result was obtained by using a 1.3GHz ULV Pentium M Processor with RightLight turned off. That is to show you that all the video processing is on the webcam instead of on your computer's CPU.

POUCH:
The pouch is very essential to me because I carry my laptop around everywhere and if I don't have an extra pouch for this camera, I would have to buy one, or otherwise the camera would get all scratched up.

OVERALL:
Very good camera, just a bit expensive. I think the price will go down soon. It's just a tad expensive I would say, but again it's quality webcam that you are paying for. Also the USB wire is a bit short for me, but then again it's a notebook webcam and a short USB wire is expected. Another thing I don't like is the lack of GNU/Linux support. This webcam would be perfect for me if it had support for GNU/Linux because I dual boot between GNU/Linux and Window XP and whenever I want to use the webcam I have to use XP. Also the Avatar software is mediocre. But Again you cannot expect too much from video detection and sensing.

You get what you pay for, and this isn't cheap.

Strengths: This is a small gem. I agree with everything in Levi*'s previous review. This is a camera that *works* and yields an outsanding picture under nearly all lighting conditions. The autofocus works.

Weakness: None. Nada. Zip.

There's a development with this camera (and two of its siblings) and Skype. With Skype 3.6, now in beta, this camera, and Logitech's qc1150 or later driver, you will get 640x480 video at very high frame rates on free Skype calls. The results are simply stunning. The frame rates are high enough that you can follow the words on your correspondent's lips.

If you really want to see to whom you're speaking, this, and the 9000 Pro, are clearly the way to go. A few extra dollars spent on quality hardware will soon be forgotten, once you see how well everything works with this.

One more piece of advice: Follow the installation instructions to the letter.

One of the best

Strengths: Great pic quality, inbuilt microphone

Weakness: Not for thick monitors i.e. >2 cm

This is little cute webcam esp made for notebook and is packed with lots of features. Its 2 MP which is pretty high for a webcam. You can also take interpolated 8 MP pics. The video is HD quality. It clips on to monitor pretty well however its made only for 2 cm think. The best part is it comes with a eye level desktop stand to be used with desktop. You can't go wrong with it but currently its overpriced. I strongly recommend it.

great video quality and color rendition but slow...

Strengths: - Excellent picture quality - Works well in low light - Fast video conference in Skype - Small size perfect for notebook - included mount for desktop

Weakness: - slow autofocus and out of focus on fast motion - does not work well with Yahoo messenger - no lens cover (for a high quality lens)

This webcam has an incredible video quality. Maybe because it has the same lens Sony uses for super low light performance, it gets good photo and color in very low light. The autofocus sometimes does not work fast enough so the video may become blurry when objects move in fast motion. Good audio quality too.

It includes a desktop stand and a travel pouch. It'd be perfect if it includes a lens cover too (or built-in cover as QuickCam Fusion).

Overall this is the best webcam on the market today in term of video/web/audio performance

the best notebook web camera to my knowledge

Strengths: Carl Zeiss lens to deliver super video quality; small form factor and premium case for notebook use and travel; nice built-in mic; real-time response with skype

Weakness: a bit complicated software setup; not the best clip

Simply look at the lens, it stands itself separately from other web cameras. Carl Zeiss, is the same type that is used by high-end Sony digital cameras. No wonder it delivers super video quality(and even so with still photo).

It has built-in mic that performs pretty well. It also comes with a premium carrying case for your travel. Its form factor is small enough for notebook use, even though there are smaller ones out there.

Driver and software setup is bit complicated. My notebook cannot shutdown after I installed software on the CD and also updated my skype. But after I download and installed the lastest Logitech software from internet, Skype video call works super fast at real-time!

Logitech never knows how to make a good clip. The package include a desktop stand that you can attach camera to the top; or you can clip it the camera's monitor. Either way, the camera does not stay very stable even it is small.

In a nutshell, this is the best web camera for notebook PC. Its video quality and real time video call are incomparable.

Great webcam

Strengths: Tiny and tiny

Weakness: None

I've been using it for couple of hours and i am impressed by the picture quality. The best part of all is that it takes excellent pictures even in low light where my other creative notebook cameras have had problems.

It is more clear than my Thinkpad T61's integrated webcam.

The best part of all, you can use it as a desktop webcam with the level stand.

100% recommend it for the current best quality little webcam

QuickCam Laptop Pro

Strengths: Size, picture quality, audio quality

Weakness: I would prefer a horizontal design

This is probably one of very few 2MP laptop webcam currently available. Carl Zeiss lense and auto focus makes it have the best video quality. Auto focus is very handy and should be a standard for future webcams. Audio works very well too. The noise is minimized. However since this primarily works with laptop, I don't know why Logitech didn't make it horizontal. A vertical webcam looks clumsy on laptops.

Great for road warrior to keep in contact with family while traveling. Great pic and compact. Easy to hear volume and microphone. My wife loves when I use it when I travel so I can see her and my kids.

The BEST

Strengths: Every feature on the camera.

Weakness: I have found none so far.

Since it's small and got a traveling case, it's easy to carry around with your laptop. With a camera so small, it has so much features and functions! This is not cheap, but it's worth the price.

QuickCam Pro 9000 Webcam for notebooks

Strengths: Image quality, size, comes with mounting stand

Weakness: Software

I love the camera and would recommend it to anyone. The image quality is incredible with plenty of size formats to choose from. The auto settings for color and lighting have been all I've had to use with perfect results. It's small and easily fits in my laptop bag. When at home I really like the stand that I can mount the camera on; and I use it most of the time. However, the software on the installation disc was not compatible with Windows 7 and I had to download the latest software from the Logitech website. When I installed all of the applications I couldn't get Skype to work. I had to uninstall the "Logitech Vid" software before I could use the camera with other video applications. It would also be nice to have a choice of output formats when recording video, (instead of just the WMV format).

High Quality Web-Cam

Strengths: Great feature set; nice software; skype compatible

Weakness: Expensive

I travel quite a bit for my job, so was wanting a way to stay in touch with my husband when on the road. Thus far, I am quite satisfied. I setup the camera without any issues. Software installation was a snap. It prompts you to plug in the camera, then runs some audio/video tests. You can record videos or capture pictures as well. The quality is quite good. It will also track you as you move around the room. It mounts to the top of the laptop screen, and seems sturdy enough. Hard to accomplish, what will all the different laptop configurations out there. After installing the skype software, it recognized the camera right away, and the test-call went well. It has a built in microphone, which is a plus. My first test-call to my husband was quite remarkable! Video and audio quality was excellent. This was from work, where we have broadband connection. However, on my first real test while on the road overseas had mixed results. Probably the issue had to be the weak wireless internet connection in my hotel room, as the video broke up, and there was a lag in the audio to video. Probably due to the quality of the Skype connection, more than anything to do with the webcam.

Overall, I am very happy. Kind of expensive, when you can buy cheapie webcams for $10, but I imagine the quality differece is significant.

Awesome webcam

Strengths: Great lens, sharp focus, Great picture quality.

Weakness: none

This camera is excellent, clear crisp pictures with high resolution. Its basically like a decent quality 2 MP camera. I upgraded from the quickcam pro 5000 and there's a strong improvement in picture quality.
It has a mic that is extremely high quality and very sensitive. It can captures video directly into WMV.
The video quality is quite good actually. Probably better than my camcorder. I am Very happy with it.

Great notebook webcam

Strengths: High video quality

Weakness: little pricy

I bought this logitech quickcam pro 9000 webcam for using with my thinkpad T60 and it works wonderfully! This is certainly the best webcam on the market. The picture quality is amazing! With the tiny size and included microphone, it is perfect for portable use. The built quality is also great, I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Logitech QuickCam Pro

Strengths: Autofocus is very quick. The lense is clear and very sharp. Color balance is fairly good in automatic settings and very natural.

Weakness: Autofocus tends to freeze at times.

This lense is extremly clear, much better than my creative NX pro. It works great with Vista. I wanted the Creative Optia AF, but I hesitated to buy it because it was the first AF webcam from Creative and the lense manufacturer was not known. I had 3 Creative webcams prior to this. I believe Logitech did a great job with a first AF webcam using a top of the line Zeiss lense. The 2 year warranty is a good deal. No need to buy additional warranty. The Logitech software is very basic, and the camera can load special effects, even with my slow laptop. I recommend this camera for P4+ with lots of ram!

Logitech QuickCam Pro for Notebooks

THE GOOD: Superior image quality, especially in low light; 2.0-megapixel sensor provides higher resolution than your typical Webcam; included QuickCam software is polished and easy to use. THE BAD: Poor design makes it a challenge to secure Webcam to a laptop; not optimized for use with Macs. THE BOTTOM LINE: The Logitech QuickCam Pro for Notebooks provides unmatched image quality, but its design...
