Great mchineStrengths: Design, larger screen, clarity of picture, ease of initial startup Weakness: Glare on screen, inability to use older MS Word program, getting used to thinner keyboard with short stroke keys This machine is a quantum leap over the old 17" G5. The picture is like going from an old 27" tube TV to a 42" plasma flat screen HDTV. The initial startup was amazingly simple considering that I transferred almost 200 GB of data from my old G5 (2+ hours). Everything I transferred worked fine except a couple of old games and my many old MS Work and Excel files. Using an old MS Office X program would not allow me to open these old files without buying a MS Office 2004 package for $500. I got around that by opening Word or Excel from my old program and then used File/Open to get the the old files. It takes more time but worth $500. This is a Microsoft caused problem, not Apple. It is easy to see why Microsoft is sued so often for trying to control the computer world. This is my 3rd iMAC and by far the best. 100% of readers found this review helpful. NICE BUY!Strengths: space saving design, comes with Leopard CD in box (not preinstalled)it's a Mac! Weakness: Came preinstalled with Tiget OS, remote no longer attaches to the side of screen. Just picked it up for wifey. The new iMac has a nicer overall designe than previous models. The aluminum construction did not allow for the remote to stick on the side like the previous model did, but this is minor when considering all the other features. It also has more inputs to allow for external connectivity such as hard drives, memory card readers, etc. Installing Leopard only took about and hour and half; and it ran just fine after re-registering and reconfiguring it some minor settings. overall a great buy! 100% of readers found this review helpful. Fantastic!Strengths: Amazingly thin ... and attractive for a computer. Blazingly fast. Extremely dependable. "Leopard" is NEAT! Weakness: A little on the pricey side, but not too bad when you stop to think of what you are getting. It is #1 rated by Consumer Reports over ALL others. It's hard to find things to DISlike about this new computer. From the built-in camera, to the new slimline keyboard, it is a class act. Macs are known for their high quality and this new iMac is the best ever! Its Leopard operating system has a load of neat features (I'm just starting to become familiar with all of them.) But, I guess, the most amazing part of the iMac is how Apple packed so much into a package that is so thin (considerably thinner than its predecessor). I LOVE it! 88% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

I was so impressed... I bought one for my Mother!Strengths: Great design, Easy to use, Easy to train on... Weakness: Still looking... Back on Black Friday I purchased a 2.8GHz 24" iMac for myself - my first Mac since being in the computer field since the early 80's. The experience has been so refreshing and smooth that I decided to purchase this 2.0GHz 20" iMac for my 77 year old Mother, who relies on me to learn anything new with computers. She has enjoyed how easy it has been for her to switch over and pick up on how to work with this new system. She hasn't had the system for even a full month yet, but she already has been able to do more with the iMac and OSX than she had with her old PC in the past 5 years or so. It has been wonderful to have my Mother asking me to show her new features each time I visit or call because she doesn't feel intimidated, and is eager to learn more! 67% of readers found this review helpful. Great low maintenance computer for my momStrengths: Simple to use, fun features for non-techie users, attractive all-in-one Weakness: Cost is higher than most computers, especially when you have to justify it to non-Mac people (until they use it the first time) I got this iMac for my 70-something year old mom so she'd have something fun and useful to learn. She's not scared of technology, but if she can't figure something out fairly easily, she just won't use it. That was her long-time concern with computers. She wanted to get on the web and make greeting cards and pay her bills, but thought it would be too much effort. Enter this great iMac. The moment she unpacked it, she was amazed at how well-constructed (German heritage, here) and attractive it was for a computer (to her, something most people are forced to use in a cubicle). Apple iMac 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 20Strengths: Overall best computer I have ever owned. Compact, fast, great display, keyboard very Nice, easy to use, simple setup, file transfers and I am still using Tiger. Weakness: I have not found one yet. I have been using Apple computers since 1986 (started with Apple IIe). Also been using PCs at work. No comparison for ease of use, intuitiveness, reliability. This is the best one yet. I will install Leopard and and Windows XP next year (2008) and let you know more. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Apple iMac (2007) | 2" display version
On August 7th, 2007 Apple released the second generation of its Apple iMac powered by an Intel processor (aka Aluminum iMac). The most significant changes are to the iMacs aesthetic; Apple has replaced their signature sleek white plastic enclosure in favor of a combination anodized aluminum and glass. The screen area has a black border and is under a pane of glass, with the outer enclosure made... Top

iMac 20in Core 2 Duo Aluminum - Good Buy
Strengths: New "professional" look, comes with new aluminum keyboard, bright screen, built-in web cam
Weakness: Glossy reflective screen, only comes with 1GB of ram, price
As a long time Mac user, the new iMac is a good buy. It comes out of the box with a decent amount of ram, (I've upgraded to 3GB) . Previously, the first thing I did with my Mac was remove the useless 256 or 512mb sticks and upgrade. Thank you Apple for finally giving us something to usable. It also comes with the new, low profile aluminum keyboard which is surprisingly good. Apple used to have the best keyboards (back in the 90s) and it looks like they may be making a turn around here. The glossy monitor takes some getting used but it's not a deal breaker. It does make movies and photos appear more lush but there is that reflective problem. After awhile, you can learn to ignore or see around the reflections. Overall, I'm very happy with my new purchase and may even upgrade to the larger 24in version in a months.
