Back in Black!Strengths: Extreme Speed, Fastest AM2 Processor Available! Weakness: No fan, extreme heat and power consumption. Well, AMD decided to try making their first special edition processor. For water cooled cases this processor is the most extreme AM2 you can buy for now until the Phenom processors come out. Extremely fast, but it does consume a ton of power and produces tons of heat. 88% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

HOT buy, literally!Strengths: 3.2 ghz, dual core, 2mb L2 cache Weakness: extremely hot, not too well on over clocking as some models I bought this processor to replace my amd athlon x2 5200+ processor. I had my 5200 overclocked from 2.6 to 3.04g so i figured i could clock this one pretty high too. As soon as i put this sucker in (used a stock amd cooler which i had from my 5200, i used a zalman one on my 5200) this thing was too hot to operate. Even in just windows vista not overclocked it as running around 50 something degrees C. Put the Zalman fan on it and it still is too hot to play games, had to order a thermoelectric cooler. So far ive only been able to overclock this one to 3.4ghz. my 5200 goes 400mhz over this one only 200mhz. Also windows vista does not recognize this processor, must be too new. Was thinking i should have gotten a 6000+ instead, but im happy with it (it IS the fastest) 83% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Good cpu for the moneyStrengths: Value for performance. Unlocked. Weakness: None so far. Didn't come with a heatsink and fan. Just as well anyway as I got the cooler master hyper 2 x cooler to slap on it free after rebate. Not running it overclocked. No problems so far. Runs smooth, stable and cool with good performance. Installed easily on my gigabyte GA-M59SLI-S5. 80% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

One fast CPUStrengths: Fast. Fast. Fast. Weakness: Hot. Hot. Hot. I began building and overclocking my own PCs back in the 486 days. Somewhere along the way I got married, had kids, and found I had no more time for endless tinkering with PCs. One day, I took the big plunge -- I bought a stock PC from a major manufacturer. 20% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

MUST HAVEStrengths: REALLY FAST,2 CORES,CAME WITH FAN AND HEAT SINK Weakness: A LITTLE HOT OK,I KNOW THAT SUPPOSEDLY INTEL CPU'S ARE A LITTLE QUICKER AND A LOT COOLER,BUT I HAVE TO ADMIT THAT THIS AMD 6400 X2 REALLY KICKS BUT,AND IT'S ALOT CHEAPER THAN INTEL'S 3.2GHZ CPU'S,AND LIKE I MENTIONED AT THE TOP, THIS BABY CAME WITH A FAN AND HEATSINK ALREADY IN THE BOX.WELL I INSTALL THIS BABY AND IT PLAYED LIKE A DREAM,EVEN THO IT RAN A LITTLE HOT WHEN PLAYING.THE CORE TEMP ON CORE #1 WAS AT 64 DEGREES C. AT 100% LOAD AND CORE #2 WAS AT 63 DEGREES C. AT 3% LOAD. WELL THAT'S NOT BAD BECAUSE YOU CAN ALWAYS GET A BIGGER AND MUCH BETTER FAN THAN TE ONE IT CAME WITH.WELL OVERALL I THINK THIS CPU IS A GREAT BUY,AND I REALLY RECOMEND IT IF YOU DONT WANT TO SPEND ALOT OF MONEY ON A CPU. 0% of readers found this review helpful. AMD Athlon X2 6400+ Black Edition
Based on the Windsor core, the AMD Athlon X2 6400+ is AMDs fastest dual core processor. While it is outpaced by Intels latest 8000 series, this AMD chip still offers a good price:performance ratio for those who require a high performance chip on a budget. Sadly, based on a 90nm process and rated at 3.2GHz means this chip has a thermal output comparable to that of AMDs hottest and fastest quad... Top

Top-of-the-Line x2 Processor
Strengths: Great item highly sought after.
Weakness: NO Fan Heatsink
I would highly recommend this CPU to anyone that is looking to get the most out of a dual core AMD CPU. It tests out to be about 7% faster than the x2 6000+ however it costs more money than the 6000+. You will also have to purchase a good Heatsink/Fan for this beast but in my opinion it will be well worth it. If it would have come with a Heatsink and Fan I believe this review would have been a 10
