A little hotter than my other drive.Strengths: Huge capacity. Generally fast drive - a little faster than my Maxtor STM3320620AS (320GiB). Weakness: Running a lot hotter (56 C) with intensive disk activities than my Maxtor STM3320620AS (51 C). Under normal usage, it's also about 3 degree (C) hotter than my Maxtor. Ambient temperature @ 80~85 F. Generally a good drive. Huge capacity. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Deskstar 7k2000Strengths: price is good, storage is large. and the performance is better than 500G counterpart. It is very quite Weakness: It is hot when run. and sound is larger than my friend's WD 500G if you consider use an enclosure for it. It seems do not complicable with my current Antec Mx-1 enclosure. Maybe this generation is a little different from the 500G one. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Good Price to Performance Per GB RatioStrengths: The Hitachi Brand, 750gb space, 32mb cache Weakness: It contains moving parts Hitachi has always made hard drives with the best performance with minimal heat along with an acceptable price. This drive definitely meets that threshold for me. The drive wasn't cheap but it has 32mb cache which helps boost performance. It doesn't produce a lot of heat like some Seagate or Western Digital drives I have so I expect it to last longer. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Deskstar 7K1000 HDS721075KLA330 750GB Hard Drive...Strengths: size quality Weakness: None I have been using Hitachi hard drives for years now and have never had a problem with any of them. Maybe I have been lucky, but I have tended to stick with what has worked. This drive is no different. Excellent price for the size and works great. I didn't find it to be loud either. I would definitely recommend it! Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Competitive drive in its classStrengths: Easy Install, Quiet Weakness: OEM drive does not come with SATA cable, a minor annoyance I was looking for a 750gb drive with my primary concern being reliability and longevity. My sense is that other major manufacturers may have slipped in these areas in recent years, and in years past I have had great performance from IBM/Hitachi drives so I gave them a shot. This drive is quite competitive both in price and specs, and my limited experience gives me a sense it it a solid well built unit. It may not be the quietest, but definitely quiet enough. I wish it had a 5 instead of 3 year warranty. But my real desire with any drive is for the warranty never to be an issue. So far, am am very pleased with this choice. Inexpensive mass storage
Strengths: 1. Currently the least expensive 750GB hard drive with 7200 RPM and 32MB buffer. 2. 3-year warranty.
Weakness: 1. Not very quiet. 2. No accessories for OEM version. 3. 3-year warranty (3
This drive has the best capacity/money performance nowadays. The vista experience rating in my system (Phenom 9600 + ECS A780GM-A) jumps from 5.1 for my 160GB Seagate 7200.7 to 5.9, a noticable improvement. It's not very quiet though, and all accessories are missing in OEM version.
