Blue Screen Motherboard

Strengths: Serial ATA Raid,

Weakness: Crashes with the blue screen every couple days

Bought the P4 3.2 CPU with this motherboard combo from outpost.com (Fry's). Unfortunately I have two of them. My son has one in his PC also. Both of us have different video cards. I have a sony video cam that I have been unable to download one video without the PC hanging up. Both of the motherboards act the same on video cam. Seems like any thing the least stressful in computing causes it to crash.

ECS (Elitegroup Computers) PT800CE-A Motherboard

Strengths: Not over priced

Weakness: only 2 GB of memory.

Not a bad mobo! Have 2 . Mobo 1. Wished it had 4 GB capability. I have 1 sata hard drive, in bios I sat the controller to IDE not to sata! (because 1 sata HDD can’t run raid!!!! Takes 2 or more) when I installed windows xp pro I didn’t use the F6 key or but the floppy in the floppy drive, HE! No raid! Running a Intel Pentium 4 3.0E 3.0GHz Prescott Core, 800MHz FSB, 1MB Cache, 90nm BFG 6800GT OC video card, 2 GB of memory. No problems with installing windows and the mobo works just fine no blue screens. Mobo 2. Again wishes it had 4 GB capability.
Running windows Xp pro. Running raid on this mobo.
In bios I sat the sata controller to sata because I’m using 2 HDD’s (now I can set-up raid ) When I went to install I put the floppy with the raid drive in the floppy drive and did not us F6 key! Windows will find it, if u hit F6 key, hello blue screen. I have a Intel Pentium 4 3.0E 3.0GHz Prescott Core, 800MHz FSB, 1MB Cache, 90nm with 2 GB of memory and a BFG 6800GT OC video card. I have no problems.

ECS (Elitegroup Computers) PT800CE-A Motherboard

Weakness: Despite claiming compatibility with SATA hard drives, appears to have insurmountable problems with SATA hard drives.

I purchased this motherboard in a CPU/motherboard combination at Fry's Electronic (same as outpost.com). It came with a P4 3.0GHz. First, it doesn't sense the SATA hard drive at all. I used a floppy to install the factory supplied VIA RAID drivers using F6 during the installation startup process. It then recognizes the hard drive, but then consistently comes up with the blue screen of death during install. It's going back under the return policy.

ECS (Elitegroup Computers) PT800CE-A Motherboard

Strengths: cheap !

Weakness: missing more IDE ports but they becoming history anyway ...

for the bucks you cannot get something better, this is low priced MOBO from strong manufacturer with support and updates so I can't really complain, before attempting to solve any problems you should make sure you have the latest BIOS installed and check all the settings everywhere (in BIOS on the motherboard and drives) , mine worked at firs time after installed all the HD stuff and checked everything in BIOS.
Good luck, or buy some better stuff (at least $100)
:)
