Lots of memory in a fast, convenient package

Strengths: Water-resistant case (with cap on), Patriot quality, loop on rubber casing for lanyard, LED activity indicator

Weakness: Cap, rubber case

I've owned this memory stick for around a year and haven't had any major problems with it. The 16gb of storage is extremely convenient. I've completely filled and unfilled this drive more times than I can count, and I have yet to experience any problems with data loss or corruption. I use the device constantly, so I'd say it gets heavy use. Read/Write speeds are the same or faster than other drives I've used. I read a review that claimed the case is water resistant if you happen to drop it into something, but I have never personally tried that out. Overall, I'd say this is a great drive.

My only complaints after 1 year of use deal with the rubber case and the cap. Although it's nice to have the rubber case in case of dropping the thing in liquid, how often often do people actually do that?. The case adds slight extra bulk to the device, although not much. If anything, it makes the drive more boxy than most. I had no problems fitting the drive side-by-side with other USB devices/plugs in a cramped motherboard, though. Because the case is rubber, it's also impossible to keep lint-free. The crevices of the casing (especially in the points of the X) are perfect for storing away extra lint in case you want to knit yourself a sweater or something. The case also makes it more difficult to pull drive out of your pocket compared to a normal drive with a plastic or metal casing.

The cap is a problem, but then again, when isn't it on these devices? I think this particular drive has a slightly different cap problem than others because it is rubber. The rubber doesn't snap on our attach in any way. It just depends on the friction between the cap and the metal plug to keep itself on. Now that I've had the drive for a year the hole for the cap is slightly looser, so every time I pull the thing out of my pocket the cap comes off and stays in my pocket. I usually have to go back in to pull it out separately. Not a big problem, just a minor inconvenience/frustration.

Overall, I'd say this is a great drive. Just don't expect to be exempt from the usual cap problems these USB drives face.
