Microsoft Windows XP Professional - LicenseYou can get an OEM license if you have an OEM disk. If you don't have an OEM disk, the OEM license won't work. (If you have an OEM disk, it'll say so right on it.) 74% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Oct 22, 2004 OEM Additional License (COA) for OEM XP version ( Pro for Pro, Home for Home) must match up. Just like a COA for a standard version would require a standard version XP disk (Home for home, Pro for Pro, too). I guess it's 'code' within the COA numbers.

Microsoft Windows XP Professional - LicenseStrengths: The CoA license (Certificate of Authenticity) is as easy to use as the one that came with the CD. Weakness: None I bought a "Brand X" PC and "Windows XP Professional OEM Version" at the same time. I now purchased a second "Brand X" PC, without an OS. All I had to do was buy a "license only OEM version" of Windows XP through a PriceGrabber Storefront. I used the CD I received with the first license to load the OS onto the second PC. When I was asked for my CoA code, I entered the one I just purchased. Everything has functioned just like with the original CoA code. 72% of readers found this review helpful. Microsoft Windows XP Professional - LicenseWeakness: Unable to use. Microsoft indicates Product Key already used. Unable to activate program. Microsoft indicates the Product Key provided has already been used to activate the software on another computer. I had to purchase another COA license on-line from Microsoft in order to activate my software. 68% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Oct 22, 2004 If the product key has been used, than you got a pirated COA or perhaps one registered in-advertantly. Who sold you the COA / additional license? If known we, who read these reviews, will be able to avoid purchasing from them! Please provide more info on your rejection from Microsoft (especially the vendor info). There are crooks selling bad software (and hardware) and the only way to stop them is to expose them.

Microsoft Windows XP Professional - LicenseStrengths: Stable (it's not Linux, but the Best Windows OS so far for consumers). Weakness: Microsoft is THE ultimate hacker / Virus writer Target. Windows Movie Maker is actually a decent add-in product. CD Burning built in *until u uninstal Roxio EZ Cd Creator!* 57% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Microsoft Windows XP Professional - LicenseStrengths: good Weakness: none Excellent service, extremely helpful. They remembered my initial query and called me back after I'd placed my order, to ensure that the delivery terms were correct. I will be using them a lot more in future. 50% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Microsoft Windows XP Professional - LicenseStrengths: This is the best operating system from Microsoft yet. Stability is the reason to upgrade. Ease of use is nice also. Easy hardware setup is a plus. Weakness: Only problem I have found is in setting up a home network. It has been a little buggy requiring the reinstallation of the XP network connection drivers several times. The operating system set up quickly and without incident. It detected most hardware and did not ask for installation disks. That was a nice surprise. The only thing it did not detect was my video card. The service pack was required for that. The best thing about this system is its abiltity to recover from a lock up. You can shut it down and reboot it right away without going through scan disk. I am still working out bugs with the home network however, it has caused my internet programs to malfunction but I think it will work itself out. 33% of readers found this review helpful. Feb 24, 2006 Sounds like you didn't do a clean install (install from a fresh partition).

Microsoft Windows XP Professional - License
Strengths: Price (OEM), stability, ease of use/install/recovery
Weakness: OEM License limited to the first installed PC
Like many others, I needed to upgrade an old Win98 machine, but XP Home just doesn't meet my needs for home office networking. When faced with paying for between $200-400 for XP Pro on each of my 4 machines, this is OEM license is a great alternative. The main disadvantage to the OEM license compared with the full retail are that it can't be used to upgrade to the next version of Windows, and it can't be moved to another PC. You will receive a valid, original COA certificate, but no software media. Use an OEM XP Pro disk (gateway, dell, etc), but not a retail, or corporate disk.
