Get the DDR3 versionStrengths: Good Value Weakness: DDR2 old cards; loud fan Get the DDR3 version of 8600 GT. There is a significant different in performance. Also, the MSI cards fan control only works if you also use a MSI mobo. Otherwise, pick another brand since the tiny fan is really loud and always run at full speed. 0% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Great card at a great price!Strengths: 512mb and 128-bit performance. Uses a heat sink (fanless). Stays cool and performs very well! Weakness: Card is fairly large due to the heatsink. If you plan on running two of them in SLI, you should check size specifications first. Talk about value for the dollar! This 8600GT really helps you stretch your dollar without sacrificing performance. Again, this card does not have a fan and uses a heatsink instead so it is obviously much more quiet than other video cards. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Great Card
Strengths: Good value, quiet, cool.
Weakness: make room for a large heat-sink.
The other reviewer is either an idiot or a liar. He clearly doesn't own one, and didn't even take time to read the spec sheet before giving his opinion. There can't be a noisy fan, because there is NO FAN. The processor is cooled by a heat pipe/heat fin combo. He must have just looked at the photo and assumed that the heat pipe mounting plate was a small fan. DUH. At any rate, while I can agree with the DDR3 being a performance boost, I have witnessed no such problems with this board that would make me switch. Even under heavy loads the board stays a cool 45c. And so far, I've only gotten it up to 49c, while overclocking it and running COD4 with all the settings maxed. Will it handle your games... I'm thinking it will, and it will do it quietly.
I liked the card so much I just bought another one, to run in SLI.
