Stylish webcam for the cheap

Strengths: 1.3MP Sensor, adjustable mount, long cable (6ft), looks great w/ good design, mic sounds clear

Weakness: Bloated software suite, need a decent computer to use low light boost, mount is not for CRT monitor

I got this pretty cheap after rebate. Comparing with the VGA sensor of my Creative Webcam Live, it blows it away. The 1.3MP sensor and glass lens really makes a difference. Add in an integrate mic that sound clear with RightSound and people can use it for stuffs like youtube and other streaming websites.

It has features like the RightLight Technology that can adjust lightning automatically, but you needed to use a bloated software (the app and services) that loads automatically with Windows. Need to manually change the startup as well as goes into services.msc to stop related services. The software is also bloated, so make sure to install stuffs that you need.

In regard to design, it's pretty good, but be careful that the mount is not compatible with CRT monitor. You would need something else for mounting.

a nice webcam for IM communications

Strengths: easy to use

Weakness: n/a

The webcam is good for IM communications. The video quality is acceptable considering the price I paid. And the installation is easy. After several steps including drive updating and Logitech application installing, it has been worked fine with IM applications.

Nice product ,

Strengths: Comparing to my previous Logitech 4000 , the quality of video picture is better .

Weakness: Manual focus ( little wheel on side of camera ) is kind of rediculous : if you alone - how can you focus camera on yourself standing 6-9 feet away from it

Ones you figure how to focus - great camera with nice quality video . The image is nicely balanced ( color and light ) , and you can see small details on video (next time I\\\'d prefer autofocus though )

A good webcam

Strengths: excellent picture quality.

Weakness: CPU consumption, conflicts with anti-virus software

It has excellent picture quality. The picture quality is very good at low light. It also has some great optional features. But it requires powerful CPU. And video effect conflicts with my anti-virus software, I need to disable some functions of anti-virus to make it work.

An execellent webcam

Strengths: easy to setup and use; good video/audio quaulity.

Weakness: camera button too sensitive.

Pros: This is so easy to setup and use. I sent a video email 15 minutes after hooking it up and the person receiving it said it was very clear and the sound was good, now her neighbor wants one. It adjusts very well to sit on my desktop or my laptop monitor. The screen shade is a big plus for me more to protect the lens than for privacy.
Cons: Very minor ones. The cord could be a little more flexible. The camera button to manually take a snap shot is pretty sensitive, I've snapped a pic when I was turning it to face another way.

Logitech QuickCam Communicate Deluxe

Strengths: good pic quality, privacy switch, built in mic, glass lens, auto adjustment for lighting and sound conditions

Weakness: unstable on level surface when stand is unfolded, high cpu and resource usage for face tracking and video effects

In summary, the webcam provides good high res pic quality, extra features and is easy to install. This webcam model is one of Logitech's higher end webcam offerings, but is affordable after rebates. If you can do without the extra resolution and the video effects, the more affordable QuickCam Communicate STX might be a better buy.

In general this camera is easy to set up and works well right out of the box. The image quality is decent and the auto adjustment to lighting conditions ensures a good image each time. Low light performance is average. It is higher resolution than most webcams at 1280 x 1024 and has Vista driver support.

It also has other nicer small features like the privacy switch which covers the lens when you don't want the video transmitted, a dial to manually adjust the focus and a LED indicator that lights up when the camera is in use.

However the face tracking and video effects (overlay of cartoon accessories such as hats/glasses/wigs) software is pretty cpu and resource intensive, and it is best you turn those off.

I think these software effects are enabled through the driver detecting the device hardware id only for the higher end models, and is not hardware limitation but Logitech's segmentation of the market when selling different web cams.

QuickCam Communicate Deluxe

Strengths: Excellent

This webcam is extremely good for people who use at home. I brought this 1 week ago and I pretty much love it. It provide extra bright when you use it in the dark. I highly recommend for buyers.

cute,smart, easy setting

Strengths: sharp imange, high performance sensor

Weakness: I will hope this one be much much smaller---use for laptop too--haha

I really like this one--cute and professional. The first time to set up, it need to use software first and plug in the usb. Very easy to set up. The quality of voice is good!
I bought this one and quickcam pro 5000 at the same time. This one is much smaller.

Logitech QuickCam Deluxe

Strengths: Extremely good picture quality and ease of use.

Weakness: none what-so-ever

I have used this webcam for almost a month and I am impressed by it with every use. The picture and sound quality is fantastic. There are lots of features that allow you to make normal conversations alive and interesting such as Video Effects. Logitech got this one right and I would highly recommend it.

Good webcam

Strengths: Good Image Quality, working great.

Weakness: None

I've tried several different webcams, and the Logitech QuickCam Communicate Deluxe by far has the best image.
Its especially good under low light conditions. I use the camera for overseas video
calls and the other party complements me on how good it works.

By the way, logitech seems solve some incompatibility issues with
the Kaspersky Anti-Virus software, the software is now working great
with Windows Vista and Kaspersky.

In closing, I am really happy with this camera and
I have already recommended it to several friends.

It is a great camera, Very easy to use, and the cute appearance matches the screen.
The color of video is fresh and it is more clear than other webcam I used before.
The Base is a little funky, and I hope the cord
could be a little more flexible.

QuickCam Communicate Deluxe: Small on Price, Large...

Strengths: Impressive video/audio quality | Drivers make setup a cinch | Compact design

Weakness: Lack of auto focus | No software focus option available

This is a compact webcam that provides a lot of video and sound quality on the cheap, but that doesn't mean the quality mirrors the price. The quality of this webcam is top notch, as to be expected from logitech products, and is extremely easy to setup in the process. Other than the lack of auto focus and manual focus option only available on the camera itself and not available via software, this is a perfect webcam for nearly any application.

Nice first webcam

Strengths: great quality, easy to mount, nice software

This was my first webcam and I have to say I love it. The quality on this cam is supprisingly good. It is very portable. I take it around with my laptop when I go out of town. I really like the Logitech software that comes with it. It is easy to use and adjust. I can't compare this cam to others, but for the first-time-user, this cam is excellent!

A very good webcam so far

Weakness: No auto focus as Logitch Quickcam Pro for Notebooks

This is the best webcam I have so far. The image and lighting control is very good even on low light condition. It will be even better if this webcam come with auto-focus feather.

Great Camera

Strengths: Easy to setup and use

This camera has a good microphone, and outstanding video.
It Works great with poor light in the room, and it focuses just fine, both close and distant objects. I love it so much!

Logitech QuickCam Communicate Deluxe Webcam

Strengths: Great video quality, very good size and good looking too

Weakness: Had a hard time to fix it on my laptop LCD; a little bit pricy

I bought this webcam 3 weeks ago, thinking of getting a smaller webcam for my laptop (I had a Logitech Ultra Vision too). It was not that small, but works for me. The picture quality is very good and it works well with MS Live!. Only trouble I had was that I had a hard time to have it fixed on my laptop LCD. It fell off many times. But once I figured that out, it has been no problem sitting above the LCD at all.

Strengths: Clear crisp image, very good lighting adjustment, mic

Weakness: Ill-designed base, sensitive camera button

This camera provides very clear pictures, and the additional features, such as lighting and sound adjustments, face tracking, just makes it better. It's very easy to install and use as well. I've used it with MSN Messenger and Yahoo, and it has performed very well. Even with the minor issues regarding the base, and the camera button, which are both kind of annoying, this is still a very good webcam.
