Blizzard Entertainment World of Warcraft

Strengths: You can play this game solo or in groups--something unusual in many of the new MMORPGs. There are over 2,000 quests!

Weakness: They have a lag problem. Strangely, this happens in areas that are hardly populated as much as it does in the large gathering areas.

Ultima Online started it (MMORPGs) and set the standard pretty high for others to follow. However, its outdated graphics and very old game engine are causing many loyal fans (like me) to look for an alternative.

I didn't like EQ. DAoC, the latest version, is pretty good. I really enjoyed SWG--but WoW is now top of the pile.

There are over 2,000 quests--and they are varied, interesting and often very challenging. They give you profit, unique loot and experience points. I sometimes jump into the game and do a short 15 minute quest.

Another stroke of genius is their handling of dying! First, there has to be a penalty--but when other players can loot your body, or you lose mega-experience, etc. dying can become a real downer. In Wow, you don't lose anything you are carrying and you don't need to lose any XP. Instead of being resurrected at the grave yard, have your ghost run to your corpse--clearly marked on your mini-map. Ghosts travel fast, run on water, and you can rez without any loss at all.

Blizzard is an outstanding company--almost everything they produce is a winner..World of Warcraft is another top hit!

Again your ignorance shines through AZX. WoW is not the best game ever ... Not even in the top 10. I am beginning to assume you work for Blizzard or you have shares in their stock. WoW has been plagued by lag issues since the Beta and have gotten worse not better. This is well documented on many sites, as well as experienced by all of their players. If you insist on simply contradicting without any coherent reasoning or stating any viable points of contention, you will continue to appear as a newbie. Full of themselves and ignorant of their surroundings.

I've talked to a GM before in person and on the contrary they say people whine too much about insignifigant things. The solution is really simple. If you don't enjoy the game... just stop playing... No need to rain on everyone's parade

Yes the game is one f the best mmorpgs i have ever played!! It is alot of fun when you get to a high lvl and get to better quests and instances. I find it is very fun when you play has a group so you can socialize with friends and learn more tips for the game to inance yur experience.

I would consider the game to anyone who is looking for a best adventure. There are 8 races to choose from and 2 sides (horde and alliance) and many classes to choose from.
The game will grab you by your neck and bring you to life in the game and you become to be addictive to the game and more fun.

Also if you diside to join the adventure of wow you can join me n the pvp server "Burning Bade" on the horde side. Add me has a friend (grayfeather or Ghostwalk) i will try my best to help you get into the game and hooked.

Have a nice day and hope to see you in the game!!!

GREATEST MMORPG TO BE FOOLISHLY DESTROYED WEEKLY BY...

Strengths: This game is totally addictive and "should have been" the last game you'd ever buy:-)

Weakness: Customer Service is a "totally unaccountable, non-existant, rubber stamp joke" and sadly the game designers change the rules/guidelines without reason (or accountability to you) every tuesday??? :-(

I personally had 10 totally Different Characters at once in this game; 5 on the Alliance side(Good Guys) and 5 on the Horde side(Bad Guys)... some all the way up to 45th level!
All of them were months of time devoted to each one, because I played them the hardest way known in this game; totally solo!
This was a passion for me that was crushed little by little with every Tuesday's updates!
Sadly the game changed so much after months of small, arbitrary, haphazard, weekly updates, that some of my favorite high level characters became completely useless!
Even though I had several solid solutions and fixes for the mess that Blizzard made out of this wonderful game, not one single (supposed) customer service rep even read my lengthy requests to communicate with the design teams of these updates!
Why would anyone spend so much time on a game that can and does change randomly on a weekly basis, with no say in it, just shut up and pay??
No matter how much I loved the endless gameplay and creativeness, I can't see paying $15.00 a month additional on-line game fees to the people who are unaccountably fighting our success and passionate efforts every step of the way!
Sorry folks... we all learned as children to walk away from the kids who changed the rules in the middle of the game..... Because Arbitrary Rule Makers Just Aren't Worth Playing With:-(

(I hate saying this but.....)
DANGER WILL ROBINSON!!!

This Game's Support Will "Endlessly Disappoint and Frustrate Any Mature & Intelegant Player"

POCKET YOUR MONEY AND CONSIDER YOURSELF ONE OF THE LUCKY ONES!

Hey wadeduck58,
How come you didn't tell us anything about the game, as well as the obviously poor service?
Like, the plots, kinds of characters, design, playing styles, successes and winning the game, quests, difficulty of play, or even what kind of game it is.
Reviews need to tell the potential buyers exactly what kind of game they'd be buying!
Can you clarify on these points please?
PS. (Great review on the customer service though :-)

Sorry Friend that I didn't get into game specifics....
My point of this game warning is: "There Are No Game Specifics that are without the possibility of being altered with the next Tuesday's patch"....
I would not have posted this warning without reason, and you my friend are looking for the same as I am...
A Game That Is Set Up In One Format And Enhanced By The Creators, But Not Drastically Changed Over Time!
Any WoW player who has an honest understanding of the game will tell you that: "the retail box game purchase of just 6 short months ago, is but a distant memory to what you play today, and who knows what it will be after the next Tuesday's changes!"
I wish I could answer your question of what kind of game it is, but today is Tuesday, and the servers are down for regular Tuesday's maintenance!
Once the servers come back on line, the update downloads begin..... It's a crap shoot to guess what the game will be like tonight... No One Knows... It's Unknown what they will do next to this once Great MMORPG:-(
EXAMPLE (One Tuesday's Game Changing) :
On One Monday I Had A Priest Player Named Brothermoth On The Hydraxis Server, Who Gathered Herbs To Make Potions! Potions Supplemented This Characters Natural Weaknesses by drinking Special, multiple Combinations of them, and also supplemented the Characters Income By selling These high level Potions!
Also on Monday (With the help of multiple potion combinations) my priest could walk in very, very difficult areas (by himself) and survive that area that had the most amount of treasure and experience needed in order to advance this character!
On Tuesday night My priest could not survive anything anymore and my sales of potions went to zero....
The character that was built on months of Alchemy training was broke and useless after one Tuesday's updates....
(that Tuesday's update limited all potion use by all game players to only one potion used at a time, of the now two categorized types, Making Alchemy Use And Skills Worthless)!
So you see friend... If one Tuesday's updates can destroy your (months of work) game character (and this was only one example), what can constant changes every single Tuesday do to a game???
It no longer can be considered a game... It's a crap shoot to see what it becomes next!!!!!
Wish I could tell you more, what kind of game it is, but it's Tuesday and only the update and patch designers of Blizzard know what's next... Trust me; They don't owe you a thing and don't even want to communicate with the players!!!
If there is only one thing that is constant about the World Of Warcraft Game now, it's that the game has grown to EIGHT MILLION USERS PAYING FIFTEEN DOLLARS A MONTH, EVERY MONTH!
That is easy math to calculate and figure out how huge and isolated from the players they have become!!!
No single or even ten thousand players mean anything to them anymore, and the game is now "what ever they want to make it (or change it) at their whim!"
Sorry Friend, Your point is a very good one and is exactly my point too....
No One Can Tell You What Kind Of Game World Of Warcraft Is Anymore!
And If They Did It's A Lie; Because Come Each Tuesday, All Bets Are Off and their nose will start growing:-(

World of Warcraft

Strengths: Interesting game play, different areas to explore, combat amazing, PvP potental nearly unlimited

Weakness: Horriable Customer Support, Game Play Issues, Server Lag Issues, Patching Issues, Many Bugs (after 2 years), Dishonest Player Base, Dishonest and Deciving Company Policies, Over Charged Fees

I have been playing World of Warcraft since release and I have fun with it but that is becauase I have a open mind about bugs and how every MMO is a constant work in progress. World of Warcraft should not have been released when it was it was one of the worst releases in MMO history, great sales wise but programming was horrable and uncompleted, servers crashed frequently, GM support was non exisitant sometimes you'd have to wait at least 7 hours to talk to GM provided they didn't just delete your ticket in the first place. Extremely rude cusomter support Personell namely GM's again who if they don't agree with you will end up closing your ticket and you'll end up with a ban warning in your Mail Box.

If Blizzard works out these Numerious issues it will turn into an excelent game. But one which will easly be dwarfed by another with better support.

Fun till you hit the cap but then its drudgery

Strengths: Graphics are nice and crisp (stylized like cartoons though). Solo and duo is very possible up till you hit the level cap. PvP has some point. Lots of quests at lower levels.

Weakness: Quests are very simple and mindless. Once you hit max level the only thing left is PvP and infinite Instance runs for a small chance at good items in groups of 10 to 40 people. Too time intensive.

I played this game in beta. I played it from release. I maxed out a few characters (both horde and alliance) on a two different servers. I played horde on a pvp server (StormReaver).

What I love: The early game is lots of fun. You can play it solo or in a group of up to five people. I love that in PvP factions can not chat at each other so there is no trash talking that ruins so much PvP in other games. I like the factions put you on a team of nearly half the people on the server so even if you arent in a big clan you still feel like you aren't alone.

I still have my account but I don't play any more. Unfortunately when you hit the level cap you are in the worse grind of any game I have ever been in. You are forced to team up with 39 other players of appropriate classes who are very skilled and organized. You have to play dozens of hours a week running the high level raid Instances to get a small chance at the the highest level loot.

The time commitment is insane. The rewards are such tiny increments over your current gear that there is little sense of joy. You lose the sense of accomplishment beating the high level bosses after you do it once a week (at the cost of a dozen hours) every week for the last 25 weeks (yes 25 weeks of my poor life gone).

The PvP Battlegrounds are ok but PvP doesn't hold my attention for long. It doesn't have the gripping rush of and FPS.

The quests are really thin and simple. There are no real quests at the epic level. Perhaps these issues will get resolved. I, for one, am done waiting for that, though.

WoW it's not

Strengths: Pretty graphics, many servers, choice of horde or alliance

Weakness: Initial addictiveness wears off quickly. Not enough new content to justify monthly money grab. Non existent tech support and indifeerent or absent GM's. LAG big time lag issues. 25$ a month.

repetitive unimaginative quests. Instances and battlegrounds wait time up to 4 hrs ... Monster Farming quickly supplies characters with top notch items. experience far to easy to earn. Far to easy to become filthy rich in a very little time. No guarantee that enough space on server for you to play with friends. Once you pick a server your stuck with it until new servers come up or someone on desired server quits. Lack of content updates. Patches break as many things as they fix.

It seemed like a great buy at the time.

Strengths: The vast amounts of weapon and armor sets. Handy Atlas book (sold seperate) dont waste your money on the strategy guide.

Weakness: $180.00 to play for 1 year plus game purchase for Blizzard's extremely slow servers which often have downtime Bubbly graphics

My biggest problem with the game was Blizzard's horrible servers. With as many people paying $180.00 for yearly acccess to play the game, you would think the servers wouldn't be a problem. THINK AGAIN. I found myself more times than I wanna count waiting for the que to to get from 260 to 0. This wasn't 1-2 min wait I'm talking 5-15 min just to get in the game. God forbid the game crash just to wait again. The servers (realms) are also taken offline for 8 hours a weak for weekly maintanance. Where the hell is all the subscription money going? It surely isn't going to server bandwidth or upgrades. Besides that the game lacks a certain intensity and yes the cartoonish graphics is part of the reason. Overall the game was not worth the purchase. Playing the game for two months was just about all I could take.

About the game (experience with the game approx. 1...

Strengths: This game has a lot of potential to be one of the best games created. Its very fun, easy to immerse yourself in, and has a highly addictive aspect. The game is frequently evolving and changing.

Weakness: THERE ARE MANY PROBLEMS WITH THIS GAME. BUY WITH CAUTION WHEN PLAYING THIS GAME.

As a veteran MMORPG player, this is one of the best games I have come across. Its extremely easy and for a causal gamer or a newbie this is an excellent way to grasp the essentials of MMORPG games. However, as stated by many players, this game has many faults.
- First, the games quests are as stated numerous but highly tedious. It takes no ingenuity or wit to finish most of the quests, and if you create another character, you will do the same quests over and over again, which becomes mind-numbing retarded.
- Secondly, the game has very little bearing for the causal gamer when you hit the level cap of 60. To do anything you must be part of an exclusive, highly powerful, well-balanced, well-coordinated guild of 40+ members for end game content. This alone is a huge downside, to coordinate 40 people's schedules to play a game, and be responsible for 39 other fellow players is ridiculous especially if you are a leader of such a guild as I have done. Everyone has their own lives to live and this makes it harder for causal players to play and frustrates the hell out of the adament hardcore players.
- Thirdly, the game has SEVERE lag and glitch issues. I use severe loosely. The game crashes expectedly every time a new patch comes out, and each time a new patch is released there is yet another bug which they create that they must fix. The game has problems everywhere and there are times when the server just crashes because of the overload of bugs, glitches, and demands by the players. The game has problems with lag not only in major areas where players group and meet, but in isolated areas as well, simply because of poor programming and lack of through work.
- Which brings up the next problem with the game, Blizzard's COMPLETE and UTTER lack of customer service and appreciation. They don't give a damn about anything that you say, regardless if you're correct. It takes numerous written tickets for a GM (Game Master AKA in-game tech support) to respond and half the time their information is pointless and retarded. The GMs tend to be on a power trip as well, considering several of my friends have been banned for insulting them by calling them useless. Their responses are generic and rarely ever fix the problem or they just say, "we are aware of this issue and plan to resolve it as quickly as possible, though no definite time frame has been arrangd".
- Although the PVP in the game is truly fun there are many downsides to this part of the game as well. There are hardcore players that PVP basically the moment they log on to the moment they log off which can be from anywhere to 3-5 hours to basically 14+ hours stretches. These hardcore players make up the top of the PVP honor ranking system. For the causal player to EVEN DREAM of reaching such an apex of competition is impossible. Secondly there are bugs in the battlegrounds and problems with lag in the battlegrounds as well. There are also problems with even GETTING into the battlegrounds. The problem lies with the queue system, which though Blizzard has tried to improve has constantly failed to deliver and efficient and timely fashion for players. There are many times when players sit around and do nothing for 3-4 hours waiting for one of these battlegrounds to open. So don't think you'll be PVPing all the time, because it can't/won't and shall ALWAYS fail to deliver. If you want PVP competition go play CS or Q3, you'll wait a whole lot less and it will be more rewarding than sitting and waiting and realizing that half your team is the same class as you and your entire side is horribly offbalanced so you lose within 10 minutes of joining a battleground and having to leave and start a queue for another 3 hours. Its frustrating to say the least.
- The game is a good game, and I do say this is one of the best games I have ever played. It is incredibly fun and amusing. I have played this game for roughly a year now starting from beta till now with a 3 month interval to get my life in order and because I was frustrated with the lag, bugs, and annoyances. But I do admit I did come back to this game because it has its places where it shines. Its easy to start over, its easy to lvl up quickly if you have experience, its easy to make friends, and much easier to make enemies. However as you reach the end game status of the game, and reach the pinnacle of perfection for your character, there is little to do besides sell your account, quit and come back, or start all over, which is one of the reasons why I don't foresee myself playing this game any longer. My characters have all been geared to basic perfection and PVP no longer interests me because my gear and my group of friends now decimate all opposition and the new content introduced in the game is only slightly better than the current gear/items/etc I have, which makes for very little enticement to continue wasting several hours a week on needless raids/runs/organizing events/leading guild raids/etc.

I agree 100%.

I WAS a WoW player for a bit over 1 year myself and quit with quite a few level 60s earned. I didn't quit because of the game's problems, the lag issues, or even the downtime. I quit because of the lack of customer support.

Help requests got me either form letter responces that were unrelated to the problem, or denials that repeatable problems even existed. Forum Bliz reps were condescending at best but usually didn't bother to respond to complaints about real problems that were either reported by many other local users or admitted to on the European forums.

The last time the Realms were down 100s of users posted requests for an official statement as to what the problem was and how long it would be before the realms were back up. (All US game areas were down) After 4 hours the official responce was for us all to check our network settings and third party programs, it must be our faults.

That's when I cancelled the subscription. I might tolerate treatment like that if I wasn't PAYING monthly for the account. A paying subscriber deserves at least an acknowledgement of a problem.

I will never buy another Blizzard game again if that's how they treat their fans.

Blizzard is definitely the problem. They don't care about their customers at all. Apart from the above problems they have a few other issues that need to be addressed. One such issue is the banning of accounts for people that are harassed and report it. The people that do the Harassing are not banned or even reprimanded, but the person who reports the Harassment gets banned. When you initially start your character their is no guarantee that you will get to play on the same server as your friends. Monthly fees are required to pay for new content and yet they sell their expansions. Tech support is NON-existent and often canned replies are returned that have nothing to do with the question submitted. This is nothing new however Blizzard has always shown disdain for it's customers and a lack of support and monitoring for their games. Diablo 2 is so full of hacks and cheats it has become intolerable to play and WoW is heading the same way. I personally like Guild Wars by NCSoft as a favorite MMORPG ( they call it a CORPG). No monthly fee a cheaper initial purchase price, a thriving community, purchasable expansion packs, very little harassment by other players and it consists of 3 files for the complete game. Lag issues are only a problem when Ultra high speeds meet 56K connections and that's in any game ... Death to 56K connections, lol.

Blizzard Entertainment World of Warcraft

Strengths: Efficient, easy to use interface, graphics, quest design

Weakness: character customization a little limited

I have played EQ, Horizons, SWG and this is the very best online game of all. The interface is easy for me to use, I don't loose a lot of time falling into canals, waiting for help to retiriev my body, etc. I can achieve quickly with just the right amount of effort. The graphics are beautiful and the game ambience is compelling. The music is not intrusive. My higest level is 15 and the game play is not boring or repetitive - yet. I have a close relative who is enjoying the game at lvl 30!

F- I completely regret buying it

Strengths: Easy to get started. I admit it is a little addictive at first, but only for a very short time. There is a multitude of quests; they say there's over 2,000

Weakness: This game has TERRIBLE LAG PROBLEMS!!! Characterization is very limited and impersonal. Travel is crap. Quests are easy and tremendously boring. This game has many problems with it.

I bought this game thinking it would be great, for the fact that its been around for a long time. I had never been so wrong. I wasn't impressed with the graphics either. I just thought it was repetitive and extremely boring.
Overall the lag and bug problems make this game not worth buying.

World of Warcraft

Strengths: career and skill options are addicting

Weakness: Lag problem, travel is tedious, very difficult to find team members, customization limited

As stated in the earlier reviews this game suffers from a serious lag and bug problem. The graphics are outdated and it is difficult to organize a team due to the inferior chat system. On the up side the actual world map you can explore is far superior to any other MMRPG out there. The ability to choose and perfect your skills is also addicting. I found myself running around much of the time killing and making my own items. However the game falls short graphicly. Characters and backgrounds are still very polygon-like harkening back to the classic Everquest series. I am also a big fan of creating teams and working with other players. This game does not promote that and Much of my time was spent soloing and struggling. Keeping that in mind the fact that lag and bugs have now become a serious issue makes this game even more difficult to enjoy. Here is a tip for creating the best game ever. Allow players to fully customize their characters ie: city of heroes, Then allow them to perfect there skills and create and make items i.e. WOW and SWG. Promote team play similarly to COH and give them the missions found in WOW and SWG update problems with the COH staff and then you got a game that would sell subscriptions to billions. But for now the MMRPG wars go on...sigh...

Incredible, though life-sucking

Strengths: Very fun gameplay, very high value (the game NEVER ends), lots of different types of contact, very beautiful art direction, engrossing, sometimes humorous dialogue, simple interface, easy to navigate

Weakness: If you play this game, you are giving up your life. Also, sometimes it takes a while to log in, and the graphics are sometimes choppy due to lag. The monthly fee is also an issue.

World of Warcraft is the best MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Role Playing Game) to date. It is extremely fun to play, very intricate, and you can tell Blizzard paid attention to detail. Everything is very beautiful. The quests are fun to do, and leveling is never a pain in the neck. Each spell or ability has it's usefulness in at least one situation. The player-vs-player aspect is also very fun. The music is very well done and sets the mood nicely. The only big problem with this game is that it will suck up all of your free time. It is highly addicting and the rest of your life may suffer because of this game. This is why I quit playing about a month ago. And don't forget about the $15 per month! But if you're looking for a wonderful game that's both exciting and beautiful, World of Warcraft is the game for you!

Great Game!! But Lagg is an issue

Strengths: Graphics all though simple are effective, this allows the game to run o all the PC's in the house without having to do a massive PC upgrade.

Weakness: Lagging, especially when you don't need it most, like when your in combat. Accounts are transferable from the USA to Europe but not the otherway around?

I thoroughly enjoyed this game, I like the idea of the interaction required between individuals that to complete the quests. It is the thought provoking stratergies that the game generates that make the game addictive, I like it, but when I emigrated to New Zealand and wanted to takem my account to a US server they said i'd have to buy another copy of the game, now whats that all about?

I miss my husband!

Strengths: Comes with 10 day guest pass, great graphics, fun, similar to diablo or dungeons and dragons. Blizzard will change things and add things periodically, so it evolves a lot.

Weakness: could have more character options. You have to pay monthly (which I understand, but still, for poor people like me, it's a hard pill to swollow) If you're character is in a full server, you have to wait a while to get on (especially at night, when it's

I bought this as a birthday gift to my husband. He loves it. One thing about games like this is you have to be sure it doesn't take over your life: Because they are addicting. But it's pretty fun, and even I, a non-computer-gamer, enjoyed playing with the guest pass so I could be on with my husband.

AZX you really have either no clue or you are so inexperienced with gaming that you don't realize how silly you sound. 25$ a month is a brand new title every 2 months. Blizzard does not and never will add enough content to justify this obvious money grab. They first released WoW in such a buggy state that it was unplayable for much of the time. Quests are horribly mundane and boring not to mention painfully repetitious. The programming is sloppy and their updater (bit torrent) as well as the beta are open source projects, meaning costs for development was extremely reduced. GM's (in game tech support) ignore requests, often give canned responses blaming the players for obvious game flaws and outages. Blizzard has a reputation for treating their customers like crap. It interested me for about 2 months, other then a few Hardcore Guilds. Guild vs Guild play is unmanageable, no true competition can be had due to the unusual number of disconnects, unbalanced teams, and real life interferences.

NASTY GAME

Strengths: It is very addicting. You can go on PVP raids and raid the horde which is fun. It has great graphics. Also you go solo or group with friends.

Weakness: IT has real bad lag. Some quests give very little experience. Once you hit the cap it gets boring.

It is good that you cant understand other sides so they can't trash talk it takes away the fun. There are many races and classes to chose from. The monsters are unique and i like that hunters can have pets and druids can shapeshift into cats and bears and other animals, too.

Best MMO yet!

Strengths: Good game play for hardcore and lazy gamers. PvP is awsome.

Weakness: Gets boring over a long period of time, but I allways go back to it.

If you've played any of the warcraft RTSs and liked them of course and like MMOs this will be the best game you have ever played. They update it often, so you are getting your money's worth of monthly costs.

Actual content updates are rare. Most updates are patches that break as many problems as they fix

world of warcraft

Strengths: strangely there are many classes and races. Which is a good thing some thing you dont see in many mmorpg.

Weakness: as another review said there is a seriuas lag problem. Often in small outposts or settlements.

When I first bought this game I was very confused with the strange interface and advanced combat system. But as often as other unique games are you get used to it. Im facinated with all the unique and fun designed monsters.

Blizzard Entertainment World of Warcraft

Strengths: It's a fantastic RPG and action game. There are tons of challenging quests, the graphics are outstanding, and the play action is great!

Weakness: The game is full of bugs, and apparently Blizzard is not staffed to correct problems or answer technical support requests. The latest update of the game is hopelessly bugged.

It's a great, potentially the best, game on the net. However, it is hopelessly bugged and Blizzard is unable or unwilling to fix the problems.

BEST GAME/SELLER!

Strengths: Addictive, RPGs

Weakness: Frequent Lag

I want to compliment both the seller (for being extremely professional at seling and interacting with buyers ASAP. I will definately buy again for the holidays) I thank Blizzard for inventing this fantastic online MMRPG. I can see why millions of people have bought it for themselves.

World of Warcraft

Strengths: A great thing is the solo and grouping for tougher quests. All the updates and the new expansions make this a great game and the originality of each character.

Weakness: Bugs thats all really but eacy patch gets rid of the old ones and creates new ones.

World of Warcraft is brilliant.
The different races and classes with all their combinations make every character 100% orriginal.
This game is ever-expanding and the online element creats a great gaming experience that no other RPG's can create
I don't think i will stop playing for a very very long time.

World of Warcraft

The forest was lush, and vividly dressed in an array of colors. The tiny night elf hunter was not fooled though – danger lurked ahead. He checked the young night saber bounding beside him, the creature loyal to a fault. This was his protection, his extended attacking arm. If trouble came up suddenly behind him, the cat would respond. He looked back to the unseen path he followed. A fallen tree...
