Apple MAC OS X JAGUAR v.10.2 Complete ProductStrengths: NO CRASHES, WORKS AS ADVERTISED Weakness: a little slow on opening programs when several are running in the background I have both my old PC, which crashed all the time it seemed, and my PowerMac G4 dual. Two days after setting up my Mac the PC crashed so I knew I was going in the right direction. 50% of readers found this review helpful. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Apple MAC OS X JAGUAR v.10.2 Complete Product
Strengths: Graphics, Networking, intuative OS, great tools included...
Weakness: GUI could be faster
I'm a windows developer (not a switcher though)
I gave this OS 5 stars for the simple reason that you don't allow more.
The GUI in my opinon is beautiful, and certainly ahead of it's time.
The Unix underpinnings mean that most software written for Linux should port very easily to this OS. It also gives this OS a very strong foundation from which to leverage itself...
The development tools that are free with this machine are better than most commercial offerings.
I created a movie for the first time with this OS in less than 30 minutes, and that included rolling credits, soundtrack etc... I didn't read a manual or anything, very intuitive tools included.
I work in a purely PC environment, but my Mac with this OS running not only works seamlessly within it, but needed no setting up in which to do so. I can connect to our local servers and mount drives etc (Samba comes with this OS), read my emails etc... Even connected to our local network printer in half the time of others running the latest OS from other vendors...
My only complaint would be that on the h/w it runs on, it might be faster. Don't get me wrong, it's fast, and getting faster with each release, but I still feel it could run faster IMHO...
The only people I could see not buying this OS are cutting edge gamers who run the latest beta's, people who run vertical s/w on other platforms or people who have heavily invested in a particular chip architecture.
