Time Consuming Time CapsuleStrengths: Works efficiently Weakness: Took two phone calls to Apple support to setup. Costly The easy set up that is promised never materialized. After receiving the Time Capsule, I then spent two hours with three different Apple support techs. Eventually, they were able to get me backing up. It was a matter of having to reset my I.P. address and several other settings. This bit of wizardry was not included in the little booklet of instructions. And, quite possible, you will not have to go through the aggravation that I had to endure. For several weeks now, the Time Capsule is running well, performing regular backups. Note: The initial backup could be quite time consuming, as if is a full backup. The apparatus does get a little warm, and I hope that doesn't cause a problem down the road. I'm not completely convinced that $299 was the best deal. My ProCare subscription has definitely been worth the $$, though. Did you find it helpful or unhelpful? Top

Apple Time Capsule (500GB)
THE GOOD: Clean design; good deal for Draft-N router and 500GB or 1TB of storage; low maintenance data backup for Mac users; extensibility via USB port. THE BAD: Only average networking performance; few advanced storage features beyond backup capabilities, and those only for Mac users. THE BOTTOM LINE: Apples hybrid 802.11n wireless router/networked hard drive offers some powerful data backup... Top

I love this little thing!
Strengths: Easy set-up, simple networking, saves EVERYTHING!
Weakness: $$ for the amount of space
I took it out of the box, and it was as easy as just plugging it in. The initial back-up was a little timely (I just left my computer on over night), but my OS X Leopard took care of everything pretty much. I was able to plug my printer into it, and now I can print remotely from any of the computer/laptop in my house (both Macs & PCs). As long as you are willing to throw down the cash, the Time Capsule is definitely worth it.
