Antec Performance Plus AMG PLUS1080AMG Chassis

Strengths: Great 430 watt power supply, front usb and IEEE ports, three built in case fans (2 in back, one in side for video card), roomy, nice paint job.

Weakness: The 5.25inch drive cage set up is terrible. The internal braces do not allow for easy access to install drives, and in a couple of the slots no access at all.

I bought the case for two main reasons. A great 430 watt power supply that retails for as much as I paid for the whole case, and a large roomy tower to make it easy on myself in building the computer. I was disappointed in the 5 1/4" drive cages - terrible design and Antec needs to fix this problem. Make them removable and everyone is happy. All in all a great case. I don't regret buying it at all.

Antec Performance Plus AMG PLUS1080AMG Chassis

Strengths: Beefy high-quality power supply, rock-solid construction, front USB and Firewire ports, tons of room, and a nice paint job

Weakness: Tiny reset button, and it's a bit on the heavy side

This case is great for those who value quality over flashy looks. I love the fact that it has Antec own 430W TruePower power supply bundled with it. I've seen it at Best Buy for about $100, which makes this case a steal. The previous system I've built also had an Antec case (an SX-830, to be exact) and I'm impressed with the level of quality and ease of installation that Antec has given them. The 1080AMG has nifty drive rails, removable hard drive cages, clip on fan holders, a side blowing fan, and a washable front air filter, all in a metallic gray, heavy-gauge steel chassis. Of course, the case is heavy compared to aluminum-based models, but it won't be as easily dented or crushed. Overall, as long as you don't take it to LAN parties often, you should be very satisfied with it

Antec Performance Plus AMG PLUS1080AMG Chassis

Strengths: Case is very strong, to a point. The superb 430 W power supply is the real reason for my purchase. It should serve me well.

Weakness: A superb case, until the manufacturer installed the weak plastic front. 5 1.2 In drive bays leave lots to be desired. Inside format needs overall improvements.

When trying as gently as possible to remove the plastic front I broke off 3 of the 6 tabs that secured it to the metal case(had to remove the metal punch-outs to install everything I had to install (all available bays are full, in fact I would like 3 more). One would think that such a strong case would have a better made front, thanks for super glue as I will never have to take it off again, as I also revamped the filter (which I clean every couple of months, and its easier to remove the fan I installed in the front, then remove the revamped filter than to remove the entire plastic panel. Also concerning the interior layout, the tubing that is at the bottom of the power supply (running across from front to back) should have been removable to provide more access for the 5 1/2 in. bay access. This case was the biggest one I could find, to accommodate what I needed, I would not recommend it to the first time builder as it has its moments.

Antec Performance Plus AMG PLUS1080AMG Chassis

Strengths: Sturdy, Roomy, Slide in-and-out drive bays, Power Supply is beyond compare. Never a stumble in 6 mos.

Weakness: Front USB difficult to connect (depends on your MoBo). Front LED lights have never worked (prob w/matching to your motherboard). Very skimpy schematics and set-up manual. Front air filter.

Also a first time DIY'er here. Couldn't have chosen a better "starting point" from which to build my very first. My Intel MB was an easy install - Antec included lots and lots of standoffs and screws (my dog ate two). Slight prob with matching removable drive bays' "pre-drilled" holes with HD and DVD Writer.

All in all, extremely pleased with the quality and value of this superb product.

Antec Performance Plus AMG PLUS1080AMG Chassis

Strengths: Great power supply, lot's of space, real nice Cooling system.

Weakness: had some problems with the leds, but that's no biggy.

The case is really worth the money, i recommended to everyone who loves high performance systems, and it should be great for overclockers because this baby supports 5 80mm fans, and it comes with 3 standart, 1 for video card and 2 for system cooling, the other two are for hard drives and front cooling. In other words... BUY IT!!!! best case out there right now.

Antec Performance Plus AMG PLUS1080AMG Chassis

Strengths: Spacious. Quiet and Powerful Powersupply. Front USB. Lockable side and front doors.

Weakness: Extremely Heavy. Not so good fans (but can be replaced). No modular plugs for USB and IEEE.

I bought this case mainly to get the Antec TruePower supply. I was going to get the powersupply itself, but for just a little bit more, I get the case. What a deal. I bought from Newegg and this case arrived in 3 days. Excellent service. What I first notice was that the case is very heavy. But this is not a big deal because I don't move it around a lot anyways. What I like is that it was very big and spacious which makes it easy for me to move things around. However, when installing, it was truly a pain because of the single plugs for USB. I wish they were modular plugs instead. That would make life easier. But this is also not a big problem because again I only have to deal with this once. The powersupply is my favorite part. I already knew that it is top quality and that it is very quite. Indeed it is. The drive rails are removable but are a bit difficult to put them back in securely. The three fans that come with it are standard so don't expect much from those. Replace them. You can even replace the side door with Antec side window panel for 30 bucks more. The front door is kind of fragile because it is plastic. But overall, the case looks nice and the powersupply is good. Shipping from Newegg.com is safe and fast. I highly recommend buying from them.

Antec Performance Plus AMG PLUS1080AMG Chassis

Strengths: AWESOME POWER SUPPLY. VERY SPACIOUS, GREAT FOR 1ST TIME BUILDERS LIKE MYSELF. 3 CASE FANS STANDARD, DRIVE RAILS, AND SNAP IN FAN MOUNTS MAKE THIS SETUP SO EASY.

Weakness: SWINGING FRONT DOOR IS CHEAP AND WILL PROBABLY BREAK WITH IN COUPLE OF YEARS OR ONE GOOD YANK BY MY SON.

THIS CASE HAS GREAT SPECS AND I WANTED TO GO TOP QUALITY ON MY CASE FOR MY FIRST BUILD. I ALSO WANTED A LARGE CASE SO I WOULD HAVE TONS OF ROOM TO MOVE AROUND. I REALLY FEEL THAT THIS CASE IS PROBABLY ONE OF THE BEST OUT THERE, DESPITE ITS SOMEWHAT PLAIN LOOK. IT'S HARD TO MATCH THE GRAY COLOR OF CASE WITH DRIVES, BUT TO ME I WANTED FUNCTIONALITY OVER LOOKS. I THINK ANYONE WOULD BE HAPPY WITH THIS CASE!

ONE GRIPE. I KNOW ITS FOR COMPATIBILITY, BUT THE CONNECTORS FOR THE FRONT FIREWIRE AND USB CONNECTIONS WERE A PAIN THE THE BUTT!!! HANDLING ALL THOSE LITTLE CONNECTORS TOOK LONGER TO DO THEN INSTALLING ALL MY DRIVES PUT TOGETHER. OH WELL, GUESS THAT IS WHAT I GET FOR HAVING FAT FINGERS, BUY THIS CASE, YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT, I WOULD BUY IT ALL OVER AGAIN!!

Antec Performance Plus AMG PLUS1080AMG Chassis

Strengths: Solid construction, premium power supply, intelligent design, plenty of room and a nice clean metallic look to boot.

Weakness: Thermal control for case fans only supports 2 fans; dust filter could be better; some plastic parts; for the color conscious, drives won't match the case (you'll just have to get over it).

As with virutally all Antec products, this case is first-rate and places quality and function above all other critiera (and rightly so). Criticism here may seem like quibbling, but for those who are as picky as I am here it is: As noted above, the thermal control for case fans is limited to two fans (via the now infamous "fan only" plugs on the PS); thus for an over-clocker or serious gamer you'll need a fan controller and some quiet fans to do it right. The dust filter, which is basically a sheet of aluminum with holes in it isn't much of a filter at all. And the front bezel (including the swing out door) are plastic (hence a litte on the cheap side) and should be steel or aluminum. Other than that, the case is great. It's the second Antec I've owned and probably won't be the last. A strong four and a half out of five stars.

Antec Performance Plus AMG PLUS1080AMG Chassis

Strengths: Great case and power supply. Drive rails, drive cages, fan clips, lockable front and side doors, filter, two front USB ports, and one front IEEE 1394 make this an awesome case.

Weakness: If you are looking for portability or compactness, this is not the case for you.

I've had this box for a few months now. It has been really great. There is plenty of room to move around. The Antec TruePower 430W PSU has not given me any issues and has been great coupled with my P4 mobo. It took a while to get everything set up since the firewire and USB are connected pin by pin. I know this allows for the best compatibility since not everyone sets them up the same. But you have to be patient.

The documentation is rather thin, but how much do you really need? It was enough to get me going on my first homebuild.
