Sony SJ30 CLIE PDA

Strengths: High resolution color and easy to use

Weakness: Doesn't come with clear screen protector and the one I bought would slip if I'm not cautious

From the moment I bought it, I couldn't take it down
download Bejeweled and Arcade Game Pack, so entertaining.
No more papermess in my bag, so cute and handy.

Sony SJ30 CLIE PDA

Strengths: Colour Screen (HiRes, so 320x320) Palm OS 4.1 (more compatible software, and less bugs than OS 5) Sleek, sexy, yet ergonomic design JogDial Rechargeable, with reasonable battery life 16 Mb RAM

Weakness: Stylus a bit thin, but this tends to be the case in most PDAs Memory sticks are still more expensive than CF or SD cards, but gradually equalling out. (Also, 1 Gb MS now available)

1.) Supplied software is good: Intellisync Lite, and Docs to Go are especially note-worthy, and you will probably get the most use from these. (Edit Word and Excel docs without your PC!)
2.) Other software is freely available, as is help when you get into difficulties
3.) The colour screen is great: see Strengths above
4.) You want to use it! Rather than feeling obliged to use the d**n thing, it makes it a pleasure, with easy to access buttons for quick-launching applications, and accurate Graffiti text recognition. Admittedly, this tales some getting used to, but, after a few hours, becomes an accurate and versatile input system. Of course, should this not suit, you can always buy a Keyboard- the IR port at the top of the device allows you type easily. It is also great for sharing files, controlling the TV etc. And once you realise the wealth of software available, you just use it more and more!
5.) Why Sony over others? Well, quite simply, the design and build quality. The unit is ergonomic, easy to use one-handed, and feels sturdy. Unlike some other plasticky-feeling devices, this one has class, as well as useability!
STYLE AND FUNCTIONALITY- WITH A COLOUR SCREEN!

Sony SJ30 CLIE PDA

Strengths: Never hangs and has great handwriting recognition

Weakness: Battery charge should last longer. The Sony branded screen protector that I bought for it scratched up in less than a month...but I do use it constantly. It could be that the stylus is not smooth.

I puchased this model because it had great color and was sturdy-feeling. I ordered an aluminum case for it from a place in Hong Kong and now it is well protected. I use this wonderful little machine for playing games like Magic Dogs Hearts (very addictive). But mostly I use it to do my daily journals for the Weight Watchers program I started two months ago. It is so handy for this purpose that I would HIGHLY recommend it. I just read that the IR port can be used for contolling a TV, but I don't know how to do that. I put a 128MB Memory Stick in it and now it can hold as many programs as I want.
