Solid ultracompact camera

Strengths: 8MP CCD sensor with DigicIII processor, Solid construction, Easy to use, Bright 2.5" LCD, Fast start-up with acceptable shutter-lag, Optical IS

Weakness: Lack of manual control over aperture, No RAW shooting mode, Fastest shutter speed is 1/1500 sec, Noise is noticeable beginning at ISO 400

This is a terrific little camera. It's everything I was looking for. Nice for travel. It takes good pictures. Optical Image Stabilization which virtually eliminates shaking and blurry pictures, and Canon has another winner on its hands. The macro setting works well too--flower details can be recorded with ease. Well worth the price.

Good Camera

Strengths: Sturdy, compact, lightweight. Has a lot of features that make picture taking fun. Easy to hook up to computer and download pictures.

Weakness: I've had problems with the little hinge door that closes over the battery & memory card. It likes to open on it's own.

Needed a new camera that was more compact than my old Canon digital camera. I liked being able to pick a fun color for this camera. Every new model year brings additional features. Way to go! This is a great little camera & the price is well within my budget.

Amazing Little Blue Camera!!!

Strengths: 1. Colorful selections (total of five) 2. Fast and responsive 3. Crisp images

Weakness: 1. Battery can be better, but OK for now. 2. No Wide Angle

I have been searching for a blue camera for a long long time, however, in the past few years, I wasn't able to find a right one that looks good and does the job well. Now, I can finally announce that I have found a very neat one.

The Canon 1100IS is a pocket size camera that not only looks cute but capable of recording quality images. Comparing to my old Sony DSC-V3, the 1100IS is far more responsive, lighter in weight, and yet, very well-built. The body feels smooth and it's easy to handle. When you need to change some settings, its menu is very intuitive and easy to operate (and understand). In addition, The IS works and I can easily take pictures that is slower 1/20s with it; no more blurry indoor pictures!! I think this little camera is a great buy if you are looking for a pocket size camera and I will highly recommend this camera to people!

I like the camera

Strengths: small size, optical viewfinder, and its new and useful features such as face recognition and image stabilization

Weakness: only 3× optical zoom, no memory in the camera, the lens ornament is too easy to get fingerprint

I have an old digital camera from Kodak. And this is my first time to get a Canon. Generally speaking, it is a nice camera and meets my expectation. It is much smaller than my old kodak and I think it is good looking. It has some new features: the image stabilization and face recognition, so I can get clear pictures, clearer than those I get using kodak especially at night.
The optical viewfinder allows me to get clear view when the sun is strong or the battery is low. And the battery is satisfying. The 3× optical zoom is not enough for me, but I think it is acceptable for such a small size camera. The only thing I find annoying is the lens ornament, too easy to get fingerprint. All in all, it is a good camera and I will recommend it to my friends.

Canon PowerShot SD1100 IS Blue Digital Camera

Strengths: Excellent pictures, very small and lightweight. Setup was a breeze and hooking up to printer or computer is easy.

Weakness: The only thing that is hard to use is when you go to take the picture you have to push on the button halfway and then push it again and it takes the picture.

This is a great camera. It's everything I was
looking for. Nice for travel, because it is so small. It
takes good pictures. Optical Image Stabilization which
virtually eliminates blurry pictures. The macro setting
works well too--flower details can be recorded with ease.
This camera takes great pictures and I am very happy with
it.

Very good compact camera

Strengths: Small size and lightweight, Image stabilizer, user friendly menu and navigation, optical viewfinder, face detection, color choice.

Weakness: wide angle not available, plastic and flimsy battery cover, short battery life, 3X Optical Zoom.

Not much different from its predecessor SD1000. Two major differences that are available on SD1100: IS and 8.1MP.

Weak flash when dark or indoor shooting.

The Face Detection option is great for taking photo of the family and friends.

I hope there will be interchangeable bezel.

Great camera Good quality

Strengths: Good pictures, love the color, great price

Weakness: kind of light feels like i'm goin to drop it

I feel this is the best camera for its price. I bought this camera at office depot for around 100 dollars with a bunch of bundles etc. I'm amazed at the picture quality! the quality is better than my other sony camera!

Great camera!

Strengths: +Feels solid +Easy to use +Bright LCD

Weakness: N/A

The Canon PowerShot SD1100IS is a very nice digital camera. The camera itself feels very solid and sturdy. I dropped mine onto the carpeted floor and nothing came loose or apart after I picked it up. The picture quality is crisp, clean and high quality. My previous digital camera was a Canon PowerShot SD200 and the controls are very similar. The SD1100IS is a little more advanced, but still very easy to use.

Great camera for its class

Strengths: Shot-to-shot speed Clear LCD Fast Focus Good pictures overall Great Macro capablity

Weakness: Small LCD Only 3X optical zoom Lens could have been wider

This camera has a lot of the features of it's more expensive brothers. It comes with enhanced face detection which will not only compensate for focus, exposure and flash but also for the white balance when it detects a face to capture even more natural looking pictures of your subjects.

It is very snappy thanks to its powerful Digic III processor that's borrowed from the high end Digital SLR line of Canon cameras. The LCD is also improved over last year with higher pixels and 15 step brightness with auto gain up in dark.

It has a lot of nifty features. My main complaint though is with the lens. I wish Canon would have used a more wide angle lens as in these small camera wider angels are always more useful than higher zooms as the 3X zoom is practically just barely minimum.

On the other hand the Face Priority feature works very well, detecting faces immediately as they come in to the frame and following them through the frame without much problems. Canon's implementation is one of the best I've ever seen compared to Nikon or Sony.
Overall though I highly recommend this camera for all its capabilities and the good price point.

Canon PowerShot SD1100 IS (Blue)

THE GOOD: Great image quality; minimal shutter lag; speedy performance; optical image stabilization; face detection; optical viewfinder. THE BAD: No manual exposure controls; slow flash recycle time. THE BOTTOM LINE: Canons SD1100 IS adds optical image stabilization to last years hit SD1000, while delivering just as impressive image quality.

Canon PowerShot SD1100 IS Review

Though the minimalist tribute to the original Canon ELPH has faded, the Canon SD1100 IS is still an impressive digital camera that makes a few significant improvements to one of the most popular digital cameras in recent history: the Canon SD1000. Those improvements only add to the excellent image quality we found on the Canon SD1100's predecessor. Optical image stabilization is the most...

DCRP Review: Canon PowerShot SD1100 IS Digital ELPH

All things considered, the PowerShot SD1100 is a quality ultra-compact camera. It offers good photo quality, snappy performance, and image stabilization in a sleek, stylish metal body. Sure, there's room for improvement, but I'm yet to review a perfect camera. So, if it's a compact camera you're after, then this one's definitely worth a look. <p>
