Strengths: Price

Weakness: Poor sound quality, no way to control subwoofer from center contols

If you care about audio quality, don't buy these speakers.

The subwoofer works nicely but the satellites provide little to no middle and lower frequencies. They are very "tinny" as in a tin can.

Its also annoying to have to reach under the desk to change the volume on the subwoofer.

Spend a bit more and get somthing you'll enjoy better.

Strengths: Low price, long wires

Weakness: Subwoofer control is not on the central speaker

I bought these speakers to replace my Creative iTrigue speakers (which by the way are great speakers). The sound quality is not exactly out of this world, but it is very good. They don't crack even at full volume.
Great points of the speakers, apart from the sound qualitiy, is that the wires to the rear sattelites are 10 feet long and all wires are colour coded so installation is easy (takes 2 mins).
The speakers don't really have any major weaknesses. The only inconvenience is that the subwoofer control is at the back of the subwoofer and the LED on the central speaker glares in your face so you will have to cover it with sticky tape or something.
To get the best out of them speakers, mess around with the volume controls and your sound card software.

Great speakers overall. Especially for the price, this is great value for anyone who wants a surround sound system for a very low price. I highly recommend this is anyone, so go get one now!

Strengths: Crisp low distortion affordable 5.1 sound. High quality material.

Weakness: A wiring mess(not really a weakness).

Excellent for gaming, and music. Affordable quality sound from Logitech. I've had it for a while now, and broken it in. The bass is nice esp. against a wall. Supports Dolby Digital, Dolby Surround. Its great with games like Call of Duty, FarCry, Max Payne 2. Anything with stuff blowing up.

Strengths: Extreme bass!!!!! goood quality satellites!hardly any distortion at high volumes!!!!

Weakness: rear speakers abit soft!blue led too bright

excellent system is ur tight on money and it sounds great with games and dvds and music!!!blue led is abit too bright like those flashy things in men in black to whipe ur memory!

Strengths: Great bass, mids, highs.. everything.

Weakness: None.

I actually paid full price for these speakers because I was too excited to try out my new SoundBlaster Audigy 2 card to wait 2 weeks for them to ship. And, much to my non-surprise, they turned out to be worth the full $99. About a week ago I purchased a set of Creative 5.1 speakers, and was thoroughly unimpressed--the bass was lacking and the drivers on the satellites seemed incredibly weak for a 75-watt system. The Logitech Z640's, on the other hand, boast a meager 51 watts and make the most out of each one. I have a 600 watt Kenwood system in my room and I actually prefer listening to music on these (maybe b/c of the SoundBlaster, but still...) They are great for games, movies, music--anything you want. Buy these speakers, you can get them for insanely low prices and they are worth whatever you pay.

Strengths: Amazing sound clarity at higher volumes, powerful + clean sounding subwoofer, great value!

Weakness: A little tricky to setup with Audigy soundcards

I have absolutely NO complaints about these speakers! None! Amazing clarity, easy to use controls, immersive gaming, and with a little trial and error in setup with my Audigy 1 soundcard, these babies provide the greatest bang for the buck! Loud, proud and stylish 5.1 speakers for under 60 bucks...What a buy!

These are good overall speakers, and sound good considering the low power-output,but they actually prodouce alot of sound.If your not and audiophile and just want something to bring some more life to your pc these are the ticket.

Strengths: Nice sound, easy to install, and reasonably priced.

Weakness: Not the most powerful sound system you can get.

The Z640 5.1 Speaker System from Logitech will give you very good quality for the price you will pay (watch for good deals on the Web, you can find it new at 40% off the manufacturer's recommended price).
I have used the system for video games (Xbox), music, and DVDs, and I've been quite happy with the results.
A very good purchase as far as I am concerned!

These speakers are a great value for low end 5.1 Surround Sound. The sound is very rich and suprisingly good - it was easy to throw out my old stero speakers!

Strengths: Great price. Easy to set-up. Compact size makes them easy to deploy, but still gives full-size sound. Subwoofer is really good.

Weakness: None. Just need a 5.1 card to take advantage of the surround sound.

These speakers are an unbelievable good buy - got em for under 50 bucks on PriceGrabber. Was a little worried that at that price I would regret it. Added a Sound Blaster card (for $60) and I have awesome surround sound and am loving it! What a great buy! I highly recommend these.

These are great! And at compuvest for $30 refurbished, these are a steal! If you want great speakers for under $50, the Logitech Z640 5.1 speakers are great!

Strengths: Plenty of power for a small to mid sized room, Easy setup, Nice sound, and not too much hissing, cheap.

Weakness: Sattellites can not pivot, Subwoofer volume control is not on the center speaker

These speakers are awsome. For any person who is looking to get 5.1 for their computer, these are the ones to get. They are very good for their price. They work pretty darn good when I'm playing DVD's on my computer. Also, they are very nice for music.

However some problems arrose within the 2 weeks I have had them. Not very major but still notible. I had to pull out the center speaker cable from the subwoofer to move something, and when I tried to put it back, it refused to stay in the socket. I had to push really hard to keep it in their while titening the screws to keep it snug. Also, their is some hissing. Not enough to annoy you, but enough to notice sometimes.

If you are looking for a great speaker system for your computer and you don't want to spend to much money, these are the ones to get. If you want a more higher end speaker system, and pay attention to the quaility of the noise, then get the Z-680. Overall, I highly recommend this system.

Weakness: Rear cords can be kind of long is great as long as they can be placed somewhere

Without any doubt this buy was the best 80 bucks i ever spent. If u are a hardcore console gamer, then this set is for u- it comes with a adapter so u can hook ur PS2 up to these babies! If u love music- this can give u surround sound even if ur sound card is 4.1( less can also but no read sound will be herd). Bottom line- Buy these- they are the best budget speakers out there!

Strengths: Price, Of course! Decent design, very good sound

Weakness: Little weak in the mid/high range

Very nice set of 5.1's for less than $60 at most places. I really like that you can adjust the bases to be either forward or reverse facing, also use the holes as screw mount for wall/ceiling if you want. The bass is strong (sometimes have to crank down the volume for the neighbors). The mid/high are just a bit weak, but easily fixed through sound settings on the computer. Pretty Sweet. They're cheap, but don't sound cheap. Glad I bought 'em.

Weakness: satellites could be of better quality

i found it very good quality for its price. i paid $42 at ebuyer.com. the sub is very deep and clear. however the satellites could be better. but however if u jus turn up the bass, and listen to house & techno like i do, u dont really notice the lower quality at higher treble frequencies. bass control should be on center console

as a note www.ebuyer.com could do better if they gave you a receipt along with your package

Also has color coded cables making it very easy to connect perfectly with a Sound Blaster Audigy card. DVD's come out great and picks up full Surround Sound. ***BUY IT***. Paid $79.00 at Best Buy. Had more wattage than more higher priced systems.

Strengths: great sound, good with a 5.1 sound card, cords long enough for an office setup.

Weakness: no bass controll on the center speaker, 2 large cords coming from the center speaker, LED shines in my eyes when speaker is on the monitor(fixed with electrical tape)

i have had these speakers for a few weeks and theyre great, i got them free with a package i bought, these are some of the best speakers iv heard for the price, they should last me a few years until i buy a home theater system or maybe the better logitech 5.1 system, the speakers are great for games and music, although they are a little tinny when turned right up.

Strengths: Very Clear sound, and effortless set up.

Weakness: cables still to short to put speakers behind you at any real distance.

For the price you can't get speakers much better than these are. They were very easy to set up and the sound is incredible. If you have a really good sound card you'll be even more impressed with your purchase. Watching a DVD with these was as good as any upscale boxed surround sound system.

Strengths: Good sound and bass. Price and features.

Weakness: Unable to swivel speakers. Fixed speaker wire lengths. Speaker hook ups.

I decided to purchase these based on the reviews here and on other sites. I think that they were a little overdone.

When the box arrived and I unpacked it I was a little surprised to find that the speakers are attached to the stands (pointing about 25 degrees upward) and did not allow for any swiveling or movement. It was especially true of the center pod, because I was planning to place it on top of the monitor, and if placed there it would point at the ceiling.

The center speaker connects to the subwoofer via what looks like a monitor cable, and all other speakers are connected with color coded single RCA Jacks instead of normal speaker wire.
Fixed length would be fine for the front and center speakers, but unless your computer is sitting in a 5x5 box, they come up short and force me to place them on the desk until I'm ready to listen to a 5.1 DVD.

Overall it is a nice entry level 5.1 system.

Overall, this is a great speaker system. This is my first set of "real" speakers, ie a system with a sub. The speakers dont take up that much space on the desk. The highs are crisp, mediums strong, and bass is very bumpin. Its sometimes annoying not to be able to control the bass from the center speaker, but you get over that quickly, you can just adjust it from the software equilizer. If you want to annoy some neighbors, this is the system to get. The system is great for gaming, movies, fast techno, hard rock, subtle classical, whatever you are into. When you consider the price of the system, you just have to buy it.

Strengths: Strong sound for low wattage, Amazing Bass for its size, Superbly made

Weakness: Grill and fabric can muffle sound.

I got these for $55 after rebates from Comp USA. and combined with my new Audigy 2 card, the sound is amazing. The sound will freak you out in games...its clear and precise. The amount of sound that can be packed into these things even given their low wattage is amazing. The Bass is also very strong if need be, and is a good deep tone. One problem is that the grills on the speakers can dull down the sound and muffle it. If the grills are removed (be careful they are glued on) the sound can get noticeably cleaner and sharper. A great set of speakers. The matrix option is also nice if you don't have a top 5.1 soundcard, although it of course is not as nice as true 5.1. Still it is a fine feature none the less. A great buy even at full price, as they outproform even upward of some $150 speakers.

Say dubanka, guess you've owned these for two weeks and still haven't figured out that the center channel stand IS reversible. Try reading the instructions sometime, you might be surprised. With the stand reversed, placement above your monitor aims the speaker downward instead of upward. Your review is appreciated none-the-less, just try to be accurate when you do.

These speakers rock!!! have had 3 different sets of logitech speaker sets over the years...always been impressed, but by none as much as these..Switched from a 2.1+ my stereo for the rears to these 5.1, the difference is incredible...deep rich sound, great on the low end...gamers take heed...crystal clear for movies, and music is just as good...for the price these are a great choice...one of the best choices i have ever made

Great speakers for the price.

Strengths: Sound great for the small wattage that it has.

Weakness: not exatly the best subwoofer available.

The logitech z-640's are great speakers if you are upgrading from stereo speakers, but they do not deliver the crisp, clean, tight bass that some other budget systems do, such as the x-530. i purchased these about a year ago and have been happy with them for that period of time. but once i picked up the x-530 i noticed the incredible quality i was missing.

These are fine speakers for the $36 I paid for them. Excellent for gaming and DVD's but if you want to crank these things way up you will be disappointed. I have no need for shattering levels of sound so the are a top competitor

the bass on these speakers is great, i get complaints from my parents all the time to turn it down. The LED light is really bright, but i covered that up with a lil piece of electric tape which blends in with the center speaker great.
These speakers are not as crisp as people say, ive owned these for quite along time and if i would decide between these and creative speakers, i would most likely pick the creative ones. But do not get me wrong these are good speakers for the price, but if u want to buy 5.1 speakers buy better ones, trust me 5.1 is a commitment, put all the money into speakers as u can, and make sure that u get thx speakers. For the price these are good, quality speakers, best thing is the bass, really powerful.

A very good set of 5.1 speaker system one can buy for less than $70! Combined with Audigy 2, it's great for games, audio and DVD playback! Sound is crisp n clear! Only beef is lack of remote (n rear speaker stands). But for $64.99, no complain here! I recommend it!
