Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX500 (black)
THE GOOD: Excellent design; advanced shooting options; good use of touch-screen interface; 25mm wide-angle lens; 720p movie capture. THE BAD: Noticeable shutter lag; controls take some getting used to; no optical zoom in Movie mode. THE BOTTOM LINE: The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX500 is a very good ultracompact camera with a lot of shooting flexibility. Its just its slow performance thats keeping it... Top

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX500, released in May 2008 was one of the first digital cameras on the market with a touchscreen LCD. Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX500 Review
With a solid, metal body, the Panasonic FX500 is a handsome 10-megapixel pocket digital camera with a secret: its 3-inch LCD is also a touchscreen, with which you can actually select what object you want to focus on with a simple touch. But that's not all that's interesting about the Panasonic FX500. Its 25-125mm lens exhibits unusually low barrel or pincushion distortion, and it sports optical... Top

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX500 Review
The Panasonic DMC-FX500 is a new 10 megapixel compact camera with an official price of £330 / $399. Sure, you can find it cheaper if you shop around online, but why such a lot for what is just a 10 megapixel camera? The answers lie within the stylish and diminutive metal shell of the FX500. A 25-125mm, 5x optical zoom lens, innovative touch-screen interface, 720p high-definition movies, and full... Top

Camera Labs – Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX500 review
The Panasonic DMC-FX500 is the flagship of the Lumix compact range. It features 10.1 Megapixel resolution, a 5x optical zoom with unusually wide angle facilities, and is the first model from Panasonic to feature a touch-sensitive screen, and making the most of it are full manual controls. <p>The zoom range is very flexible, the touch screen fun and useful without becoming a novelty, and the... Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX500K Review
The 10.1 megapixel Panasonic Lumix FX500 derives its sensor and processor directly from the FX35. Updates over previous FX cameras include a 5x Leica zoom that still sports the FX-signature 25mm wide-angle end, as well as this flagship model's flagship feature - a 3-inch touch interface LCD. ... Almost Ready for Prime Time
Strengths: takes good pictures in bright available light, takes slightly vignetted pictures indoors w flash.
Weakness: the differences between settings are not really too visible in the resultant pictures. i'd like more control over the settings.
This is a beautiful and ultimately very simple camera, reminiscent of the iPhone. The ability to manipulate the image thru the touchscreen is very nice but a bit more user selectable control would have made this perfect.
