This game is an absolute masterpiece. I haven't played since the original MGS on Playstation. The story line is still pretty easy to follow and is very interesting. Even though cut scenes can go past 20 minutes, they are done beautifully and some allow you to even search for hidden objects or participate in flashbacks. The graphics are the best I've ever seen and are amazing in 1080p. One of my favorite things about this game is you can go the stealth route and use your silencer, hide, and use camo. On the other hand, you can choose to go all out and run in with your machine gun and plethora of weapons. I enjoyed using the small metal gear machine that allows you to scope out the area (it's like a little remote control robot). The ipod, while a bit cheesy, allows you to listen to past mgs music during game play which is pretty cool. There is even some humor built into this violent war game. I've finished the first chapter and have not been able to put down the controller. Whether you are a fan of the series or brand new to the genre, do yourself a favor and get this game.

Greatest Game of All

Strengths: Everthing you would expect: graphics, sounds, stories, controls, easter eggs.

Weakness: None, except that this is the end of the series.

Well, it's the greatest game of all. Well worth 10/10. If you have a PS3, buy this! If you don't have a PS3, then you should buy it with this game as a bundle!

After finishing it, I felt like every bucks I paid for this game is well-worthed. The story is simply great, with a lot of depth and brings back memories from the previous. The transition from cut-scene to game works beautiful. It feels like being inside an action movie.

One drawback is the online mode. It doesn't feel like that fun for me as I can't manage to aim good with the analog stick.

Excellent Tactical Action

Strengths: Fantastic graphics Great storyline Tight Grafix

Weakness: Online play is somewhat burdensome

I just got this game, and have played almost nonstop.

If you played the earlier games in this series, you know what to expect with the sneaking. This time, however, Snake controls differently. The shooting mechanics are much better, the graphics are great, story is typical MGS, and the setting is completely new to Metal Gear.

Cutscenes can run a tad long, and the difficulty isn't always balanced, but this game is great. Definitely give it a purchase.

MGS4

Strengths: graphics, storyline

Weakness: initial load time

I’m new to the MGS mythology, but my early thoughts on this particular title is that it’s pretty amazing. The cutscenes and graphics are some of the best I’ve seen so far. Sometimes I catch myself just looking around and marveling at how deep the environments are. The gameplay is opened ended enough such that you can accomplish your mission in a couple different ways. Lots of gadgets and weapons to play with as you get deeper. So if you want to run and gun, you can do that. If you want to take a break, you can do the stealth thing. A highly recommended title.

Metal gear 4

Strengths: story, graphics, gameplay

Weakness: none

I’ve never been a loyal of the metal gear series as I didn’t like all the sneaking around. As I turned this game on the visuals immediately caught my attention. The graphics in this game are amazing. The cutscenes/story is very engaging as well. The gameplay itself is different from the other metal gear titles as it does not force you to sneak around. I was able to beat most of the game using open fire and minimal sneaking. Recommend this game to everyone.

Metal Gear Solid 4 is the latest installment of the world famous espionage and stealth action game. This game is jam packed both in game content and space-wise on the Blu-ray disc. Graphics and cutscenes are amazing in gorgeous 1080p glory. In this game, you can use your latest gadgets to carry out your missions in stealth, or in all out action with your weapons.

This game is the one you want to own on the PS3! A must have.

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots can easily earn the title for the best game of the year. It has a great production value and the result is astounding. It is probably the first title that can showcase the capability of the PS3 hardware.

Graphics is breadth taking in 1080p amazing details. Cut scenes are nearly cinematic and some can go over 20 minutes long. It has interesting stories involving espionage and stealth action.

If you have a PS3, you owe it to yourself to pick this game up. Once you start playing it, you won't want to put your controller down!

Metal Gear Solid 4 is the last of the series and it's a fantastic ending. It has great gameplay, great graphics, a nice multiplayer edition, and tons of gems that harken back to previous games. If you have a PS3 and haven't played this yet, you're crazy!

Epic Game

Strengths: Graphics, Cutscenes, Strong voice acting, Boss fights, Customization, Surround sound

Weakness: Lengthy cutscenes, Installations, Lots of loads, Confusing story

The production values in this game are simply astounding. You can tell that a lot of care was taken into the direction of this game. The graphics are superb, the sound is unbelievable with a 5.1 setup, and the voice actors do a solid job. The cutscenes are very well done. There are some fighting ones that are extremely entertaining. Customization of weapons in the game is pretty robust and there are also lots of camo outfits to mix and match with. I love cutscenes but some of the segments can be very long and full of story details. I've only played the MGS2 out of all the Metal Gear games, so the story is way over my head. However, effort is made so that this game can be played with little or no need to play the other games to know the story. The game is divided into Acts and there is an installation before the next Act. They're fast installations, under 5 minutes, but disrupt the transitioning from one Act to the next. There are also a great deal of load times, though they are not painstakingly long. Again, they more so disrupt from the flow of the game. MGS4 is an incredible game. It does a great job of creating something that is both fun to play and fun to watch.

The Final Chapter of Solid Snake

Strengths: Graphics, controls, story...everything!

Weakness: Some may find the cut scene a little long.

I highly recommend you play the previous three Metal Gear games if you want to get a lot out of the story. This game has one of the best graphics to date. It neatly answers all the lingering questions left behind in the previous installments and has a satisfying ending. It's not too crazy to think of buying a PS3 just for this game. It also includes online multiplayer in the form of Metal Gear Online!

Weakness: only up to 16 players online

This game is 1080p and looks great. dont like the fact that the online play is for only 16 players. Then just to play online more Id's more passwords all just to play the game online. any other game put it in maybe a patch then your on playing.

The best game ever made, no joke!

Strengths: The best graphics you have ever seen, the best story you have ever heard, the most cinematic game you will ever watch.

Weakness: Some parts of the game could have been lengthened to maximize the experience.

If I had to pick the best game I've ever played, it would be this one. I have been playing games since the NES days, and after completing MGS4, you will just sit there like o_o

The graphics are amazing and the gameplay has been greatly upgraded compared to the other MGS games. Some may consider the length and number of cutscenes to be a downside, but any fan of the MGS series will know that the story-telling is what has made this game so great. 5 stars hands down.

Amazing

Strengths: Best graphics I've seen so far

Metal Gear Solid 4 is easily one of the best games I have ever played. Culminating 20 years worth of stories, MGS4 really does wrap up the whole series.

The graphics in the game are amazing, and the gameplay is great. Lots to do, tons of weapons, and many different options on how to do things are left up to the player.

The game also contains Metal Gear Online, which is a online multiplayer game in the vein of Metal Gear. This mode is fun and adds tons of life to the product after you have finished it off.

I cannot recommend this game any more. Get it!

Metal Gear Solid 4 - The greatest game of all time

Strengths: Amazing story line, unprecendented for a videogame.

Weakness: A little too much like a movie.. wish some movie sequences weren't as long.

Just got this game and let me just tell you if you have ever played any of the other Metal Gear titles, prepare to have your jaw drop! This is by far the best of all of them.

The game has become a little more like more contemporary American action games, but with it's own Japanese twist. You can now either go the stealth route or just full out assault. Never before in a Metal Gear game have you had the arsenal of weapons that you have now. The graphics are the best on PS3 right now hands down. It does have to install to the hard drive as you go to each "act" however, but that only takes about 3 minutes or so each time.

Amazing game. I don't want to spoil the story other than to say that there are alot of surprises you just don't see coming, especially if you have played the earlier games.

I cannot express how great this game is!

Diverse missions, impeccable controls, amazing camera tricks (even though you can control the camera yourself), stunning mechanics (OctoCamo is wonderful), jaw-dropping surprises, and an overall level of excitement that few games can match.
