Think before buying anothers brand top of the line

stop window shopping and get one, then you'll see why Thinkpads are so Great. you'll make MAC users wanna buy one, trust me. This ThinkPad gets 5 stars overall but the Mobility, gets the 4 stars because finding a Backpack for this thinkpad will be a TASK!. other than that, the features untouched in the on-line catalog... you can't beat the head lamps on the top of the Monitor that lite up your entire work space, the variety of I/O port on deck. a CALCULATOR! with two keys! and a lot of other functions most would find it hard to be without. if you looking for a Hi quality PC, your search ends here, grab a ThinkPad and you will not regret it. the best PCs made second to None. no lies.

Ultimate Laptop Machine

Strengths: Processor, Memory, Storage, Input/Output compatibility, Keyboard/peripherals, Wireless card, Display resolution, Screen size, Display performance, Video card, Included software, Warranty, Support, Security Features, Build Quality

Weakness: Bluetooth, Weight, bluetooth mouse drops connection

This machine is superior in every respect outperforming most any(all?) desktops I can think of. it is sturdy, with superb graphics and the reknown Thinkpad keyboard does not disappoint. Thinkvantage allows for seamless and reliable software upgrades and patches plus it makes all the system info available in one place. There is nothing not to like about this laptop, it runs cool, has enough power to open multiple windows and apps without slowing down. Only con is the bluetooth Lenovo mouse drops connections now and then.

Overall excellent machine. Touchpad is not as sensitive or accurate as other Thinkpads I have owned in the past.

Thinkpad W700

Strengths: Processor, Storage, Input/Output compatibility, Wireless card, Display resolution, Screen size, Display performance, Video card, Bluetooth, Software compatibility, Durability, Warranty, Support, Security Features, Build Quality

Weakness: Memory

Great for Engineers and Designers. Very mobile. Very dependable. I have used IBM/Lenovo Workstations for years and I have never had any problems with any of them. I recently started my own business and there was never a second thought as to what brand of workstaion I was going to buy. I bought the Lenovo Thinkpad W700.

Fastest Laptop I have ever seen

Strengths: Processor, Storage, Security Features

Weakness: Keyboard/peripherals, Screen size, Weight, shipping time through customs

Great desktop replacement laptop. Lenovo is not the cheapest price but gives you more features and specs for your buck! Esp on the high equipment. You'll great deals if your looking for high end equipment.

Very nice machine, after initial problems

Strengths: Processor, Memory, Storage, Input/Output compatibility, Wireless card, Display resolution, Screen size, Display performance, Video card, Support

Weakness: Keyboard/peripherals, Weight, Build Quality

I bought the high end 17" portable. The service before the sale was excellent, but just after my purchase the office I worked with in Canada was closed. The machine arrived on the date promised, and was beautiful. However, after 2 weeks of use something strange happened, the machine became unresponsive, and required frequent reboots. The tech service center service was very good, and initially diagnosed the problem as a stuck key. They ordered a key board for the machine and within two days the keyboard was replaced. That seemed, for one day, to solve the problem. But... the problem started to recur. The service center thought it might be the touchpad, so a new touch pad was ordered and installed ...another two days lost. Same thing again. It seemed to work for a day then the problem recurred. This time the service center decided it must be the Number pad. Two day wait and another tech visit. This time success, and I have been very happy with the machine since. I came very close to demanding that Lenovo take back the machine. My initial experiance was not what I would expect from a new machine. Now that the problems have been rectified I am very happy with it.

W700

Strengths: Processor, Storage, Input/Output compatibility, Keyboard/peripherals, Wireless card, Display resolution, Screen size, Display performance, Video card, Bluetooth, Software compatibility, Durability, Warranty, Build Quality

Weakness: Included Software, Support, hollow sound from the keyboard

It is a great machine, but there are some problems. First, there are lots of included software that makes the computer very slow. Secondly, the support isn't very good. When my W700 crash, I want to recover the computer by using the recovery partition. But the partition is corrupted, so I call Lenovo to request a recovery DVD, but them dont give me even though I called them 2 times. At last , the keys near the "P" gives out wierd sounds when typing.

Excellent Desktop Replacement

Strengths: Processor, Memory, Storage, Input/Output compatibility, Keyboard/peripherals, Wireless card, Display resolution, Screen size, Display performance, Video card, Bluetooth, Battery, Durability, Warranty, Support, Build Quality, discrete graphics, raid array

Weakness: Weight, size this is not a small computer

I got this for my wife, and intended for it to be a portable laptop, but it was HUGE! It's more intended to be a high performance desktop replacement. I ended up returning it and getting a W500 instead, and the return process was smooth and painless. Based on the service I received and my experience with their reliability, I would recommend Lenovo, and their products over any other manufacturer.

A 13.8lb beast of a laptop

Strengths: Processor, Memory, Storage, Display resolution, Screen size, Display performance, Video card, Durability, Warranty, Support, Build Quality

Weakness: Keyboard/peripherals, Battery, Included Software

It is hard to truly appreciate the w700 until you open it. When you see the 17in LCD screen with its 1920x1200 resolution, the full-sized keyboard, the speaker grille that runs along the top of the entire keyboard (over a foot long), and the tiny "Core2Extreme" sticker, you know you have arrived. This is truly a beast of a laptop. The Core 2 Extreme is bursting with raw CPU power. The Nvidia FX3700M with its one GIGABYTE of video RAM will handle everything from web browsing to the most demanding 3D apps or games. The keyboard is a touch typist's dream. Fullsized and ready for action. The built-in RAID controller and *TWO* SATA drive bays mean storage will keep up with everything else. Let's talk about ports. This desktop replacement has them all. Five USB ports, DVI-D, HDMI, RJ45, RJ11, mini-USB, smart card reader, headphones, microphone, PC card, plus...plus...it still has a standard VGA (DE15F) port. With all these features and all the power on tap, you won't be carrying this thing around like your average notebook or laptop. The w700 with AC adapter weighs in at around 13.8lbs. It is so big that very few regular 17in laptop bags will fit it. If you can find the Lenovo bag for this laptop, GET IT. Otherwise, be prepared to try on several bags at your local computer retailer. Also, the power brick for this computer isn't backwards compatible with earlier Thinkpads, probably due to the power draw. The Core 2 Extreme and Nvidia FX3700M need lots of power and Lenovo upgraded the power brick. In closing, this is, by far, the best Thinkpad I've owned. It's also the biggest, most powerful, and most expensive one. If you are looking for raw power and speed, 3D graphics ability, and need exercise, the w700 is perfect for you. PS: The software bundle for this laptop is...welll...pretty awful. First thing I did was reinstall the OS and base drivers.

Price is high

This is the only workstation notebook I have founded to be the most attractive to me right now, unfortunately the price is not what I planned to spends. After I customized this, the price become $5,000.00 and above, if it were only under $3,500.00 include taxes, I would already have this thing for the complex graphics works. Is the price for this W700 series going to be lower in the next 6 to 8 month? I'll check again next few month and hope it's lower.
