Canon 100mm 2.8L macro IS lensStrengths: light weight, IS helps Weakness: all plastic lens. pricey. not very sharp This lens is nowhere as sharp as the Nikon 105mm 2.8 VR micro lens. Mar 30, 2010 Interesting point as I haven't seen the Nikon, but I would question the "unbiased" result. DP Review (the biggest, unbiased web photography site) stated that the Canon 100IS results were so good they repeated the test to confirm. When they did the results were even better.

Great lens
Strengths: sharp, well built, H-IS
Weakness: pricey
This is my first L lens...construction is great. compared to my 17-55 where the zoom ring rocks...the focus ring on the 100mm macro is rock solid. I've only tried hand-held macro shots and they've turned out very well.
