BlueAnt Z9i

Strengths: Ability to be connected to two devices at once. Size. Battery life. Cheaper than Jawbone 2.

Weakness: More connectivity and voice quality issues that the original Z9 due to original release firmware v1.0.

I previously had the original Z9. This headset is an improvement over the original in that it can connect to two devices at once and also can hang up by just clicking the ant button (the Z9 required you to hold the button for 3 seconds). The problem is that this is a new product with no firmware updates and I have experienced connects/disconnects with my phone and worse sound quality using Skype than with the Z9. I am sure this will change as new firmware is released (I have heard this will happen in the next few weeks). Just be aware that until then you may experience more glitches than with the Z9. I should mention that the sound quality of the Z9 I had was unmatched, so if they get the glitches figured out with a firmware update this will be an excellent headset. By the way, to turn off the blinking blue light hold the volume + and - buttons for three seconds.

BlueAnt Z9i (Black)

Strengths: Size - very small and lightweight; Volume - I usually have to turn it DOWN during a conversation, even in the car with the A/C running; Options - 2 earloop styles; 2 ear gels.

Weakness: Sound - quality not as good as anticipated (some echo and some static on my end; person on other end says its fine); Volume - can't control with Pearl volume control (can only control on headset).

After looking at the Z9 for months, I bought the Z9i when I saw that it was only about $5 more and newer version. My last headset was a Plantronics M3000 (free with a prior phone purchase). The M3000 actually sounded better to me than the Z9i, but the Z9i is about 1/6 the size and I don't look like an alien wearing it. So, I'll actually use this headset in public. Also compared the Jawbone and JB2, but they are both larger/more obtrusive than the Z9i.

Opened the box, charged for 140 minutes, paired easily and have been using it ever since. So far, my only complaint is that I can't control the volume using my phone (Pearl) volume buttons during a call.

I would prefer that the headset not blink while it's paired (the ant logo on the multi-function button blinks BLUE), but I haven't found a way to turn that off yet.

Excellent Bluetooth

Strengths: Easy connectivity Extremely comfortable on ear and really a solid device Longer talk time then mentioned in the specs

Weakness: SO far not found any

I have spent over $300 spent on 4 BT headset. Apparently this is the best one so far. I bought even the Jawbone 2 and it was not as good as they claim. However the voice isolation technology works great with the z69i. I have tested this functionality while standing outside and walking as well and the listeners at the otherend can clearly feel the difference when I activate the "voice isolation Max" option. So now I am so satisfied with this product that I am going to buy the V1 which has an excellent voice activation along with the same goodies as Z69i.

Good ear piece

Strengths: Size.... SMALL.

Weakness: You need up update the ear piece immediately, but after that it works great!

This earpiece works great once it is updated through the companies website. Other than that it has worked perfect for me. It does have a little bit of static, but don't they all.

nice ant - Z9i

Strengths: good size, loud and clear voice quality, pair easily, good battery life, fair price, tech support -email responsive, but lagging in follow-up.

Weakness: hard buttons, non standard USB cable, occasional static noise, need better "pocket clip", tech support can do better.

This is my second unit, both worked flawlessly according to my two daughters that "confiscated" them. I have them both learn how to use it and then taught me. It was a no brainer for basic stuff and switching from normal to any other settings did not take long to learn. It's a great deal for the money, overall performance was way better than expected. I email tech support regarding updated firmware, got a fairly quick response ,but I'm still waiting for the follow up with the updated firmware - there's no issue, I just like to keep things updated. Only real gripe about it were USB cable and + & - key were a tad bit too hard.
I would recommend this as I am planning to get one for my self soon and the better half so we can all get confused on which ant is whos....
cheers!

Good light earpiece that hopefully improves with...

Strengths: Very light. Can pair with several devices. Calling tech support was actually a good experience.

Weakness: Since I've reset it, it has started to work well. When I initially got it, I would press the "ant" to make a call, and I would hear a beep in my ear, but my phone wouldn't react.

I recommend getting Jabra eargels to replace the earpiece. I find them to be very comfortable and I never get the sense that the blueAnt will fall out, and I also hear much clearer as well. The original earpiece UNSCREWS counterclockwise off. Don't try to pry it off like I did.
