Cheap but problem with hanging makes it unusable

Strengths: amazing read/sec Speed, durability, enhances start-up

Weakness: Write speed is dissapointing, hangs a lot. Battery life improvement insignificant

I purchased 3 units of the SSDs because of the price to replace customer's hard drive because they are very rough with their laptops. I was impressed with the read speed and OS load time, but soon discovered that the drive very frequently hangs the system. Every time outlook is opened and send/receive takes an additional 5-15 sec.

Under any kind of multi-tasking usage, it also hangs the system with the HD light always on. Had all 3 drives returned to me for this reason.

Wait for the intel drives or newer gen drives.

review for 64GB Solid State Drive (Serial...

Strengths: Price is affordable Reading speed is 2x speed than than the normal drive

Weakness: "stuttering" problems

I bought this 64gb solid state disk from newegg with an affordable price. It is cheap compared with other solid state disk. The reading speed is ok and about 2 times of the normal drive. However, I installed the solid state disk with Vista. Vista bootup is lightning fast and performance is blazing when the system does not stutter. But when it does, for 5-20 seconds your system does not respond and your HDD light stays on. This frequently happens on program installations, but I've also noticed it increasing in frequency during normal use after a few weeks of running the SSD.

I would like to give it 3 star, it has good price but you get what you pay for.

Works great and no stutter issues.

Strengths: Boots and runs fast. Very stable.

Weakness: All SSD are expensive. Random writes. Had to purchase an Icy Dock to install in desk top since I have no 2.5" bays.

Stuttering issues is because the drive is too fast and you need to turn off indexing and disable the swap drive. There are issues with Outlook since it does random write which is it's weakness. Since it's new technology you have to do the tweaks but they are available on on OCZ website. I can't beleive someone building computers didn't bother to research this. I can't compare to other SSD brands but OCZ has excellent tech support. www.ocztechnologyforum...

Fairly good SSD

Strengths: Very fast sequential read/write performance. Fast boot time for Windows.

Weakness: slow random write performance

Very fast boot time for Windows once it's installed .The only bad side effects is that when you make the drive do a lot of reading and writings, it can pause the PC for a moment, while a normal HDD would make the PC crawl.

It is so-called SSD.

Strengths: Read is 2X faster than traditional hard drive's. You can use your notebook when you dancing or running. I just kidding. Nobody will do this. But SSD is designing for mobile use.

Weakness: Write Speed is slow than some 7200 rpm HDDs.

I think it's worth earning. It is cheap (Newegg soled it only $106, but I bought it from Mwave.com. It costed me about $140. Dam). I will give this SSD 4 stars. But I will not buy it again. I will wait for new gen SSD.

Good when it's compatible

Strengths: Power miser

Weakness: Not compatible with every system

Head over to the OCZ support forums to see if your hardware set up is compatible with this drive before purchasing.

If it is, you're in luck--this is an excellent solution for mobile users. It is relatively fast (your results may vary), but the real beauty of it is its low power consumption (no moving parts) which will extend your battery life.

If your hardware is not compatible, you will be paying the "early adopter" tax. While this drive is not exactly the first generation of SSDs, it certainly represents the dawn of this technology on a consumer scale. It can be buggy and slow if not compatible with your driver controller and motherboard. I would wait for the newer Intel drives to come down in price.

Overall, I give it 3 stars because I'd say there's a 50% chance of it working properly with your setup.

OK, but has great shortcomings

Strengths: Extremely Silent. My system is a more snappy than it used to be due to AMAZING read speed. A little better battery life.

Weakness: Chokes when multitasking by writing many different things at once. Overrated improved battery life. Overall way too slow writing. Small capacity.

Overall this is a cheap way to get an ssd drive.
Although 64gb is a small amount nowadays in a computer, it is the bare minimum that I would consider useable in a laptop.
This drive has AWESOME read speeds and would be perfect if it could only write without freezing ever so often.
This is an older model that many users have complained about.
The read issues should be fixed in a newer model so only get this if you NEED an ssd and can't afford the newer ones
