Soyo SyP4875P Dragon 2 Motherboard

Strengths: The board comes well packaged. The manual is very well written, and is very detailed in its description of each set of pins. Included is a 7 in 1 flash memory reader/writer with a 1394 port.

Weakness: While the manual is very good, it really needs an index. The BIOS is fully featured, but is a bit difficult to navigate.

I bought this board because it had everything that I could possibly need, and it would allow me to expand in the future. It has the card reader that fits in either the 3.5 or 5 inch bay, making a firewire port easily available. Supports 800Mhz FSB. It has numerous disk controlling options. Gigabit LAN, 6 channel audio, an internal USB, an internal IEEE 1394 header, 4 USB ports on the rear plus another IEEE 1394 port. It was very easy to install, using the step by step directions and illustrations in the manual. I did have a problem with the audio. I sent an email to www.soyousa.com, and while it took them over a week to respond, they did respond. I believe that this is a quality product, and would highly recommend it.

Soyo SyP4875P Dragon 2 Motherboard

Strengths: Motherboard has a lot of built in features.

Weakness: Only a one year warranty.

I bought this motherboard for its many features and good reviews from motherboard testers. One great feature is expansion for hard drives. It comes with three controllers, two IDE controllers and a Serial ATA controller. This option in theroy can support up to TWELVE hard drives. Another feature is the BayOne UFO Sigma Box that can read most flash memory types and contains Firewire(IEEE1394), Sony iLink, and USB 2.0 ports. It also has Firewire and USB ports in the back of the board. The built in sound also contains an expansion port for input/output for digital (optical cable)and analog signals (RCA cable). The documentation explains each step of the way especially the header connections. The cables are also color coded which makes connecting them to the board easier. I like the silver color scheme on the board because it matches with the silver case I bought. Also, it is different from the green board other manufacturers use. I would recommend this product for anyone looking for a board with the latest chipset, Firewire, expandibility and flash memory options.

Soyo SyP4875P Dragon 2 Motherboard

Strengths: Multiple capabilities

Weakness: Inherent defects

Went through the board I purchased and a replacement from Soyo. Both boards have disk controller problems. Poor design and support. A real waste of time and money.
