Weaknesses: Software is proprietary and only works with drive. The USB cable is also proprietary and had difficulty having it boot/charge from another.

Weaknesses: A little slower than some...5400 rpm vs. 7200 rpm
Review: While the hard drive at 5400 rpm, it still works pretty fast with the firewire connections. The options of firewire, USB 1 and 2 are excellent. Also, I was able to plug my digital camera as an input into the hard drive instead of having to go through my laptop. Movie files are extremely memory intensive, so this elimated my problem with my C:/ drive temp file filling up.

Review: Maxtor drives are okay, nothing special but they do what they need to. The thing I don't like is the 1 year warranty. This is something Seagate has tried to change by setting all its warranties to 5 years. I recommend buying a seagate instead if it's close in price.

Strengths: Holds lots of space, runs well. I paid $67 off an EBay auction for it so that was an unbeatable deal!
Weaknesses: Seems a little loud, only operates at 5400RPM not 7200RPM.
Review: I got this drive brand new off an EBay auction about 2 years ago. It works fine, hasn't died yet. Maybe I should have reviewed it after it died but oh well. It runs fine and I have it in Antec Hard drive enclosure which makes it nice, I can easily pull it out and makes things so much easier and more convienient.
