Netgear ProSafe GS105 Ethernet Switch

Strengths: Well Know Brand Name, Built netgear Tough, low price!

Weakness: none

This Netgear 5-port gigabit eternet switch is the lowest priced gigabit ethernet switch that i found on the net. There I have previously owned other products by netgear and have never had any issues with them. I believe this product would not be any different. From the few days that I have it setup, i have not ran into any issues, it was really easy to install. great product!

Netgear ProSafe GS105 Ethernet Switch

Strengths: Easy to Setup, Looks durable!

Weakness: None

This product is basically self explanatory. It comes with pretty simple documentation. The lights on the gigabit ethernet switch were labeled fairly clearly. Due to the somewhat cramped spacing, the text labeles could be confusing, but just make sure to check with the included docuentation. I found a great price via PriceGrabber.com and after placing the order I received the order from the...

Great Netgear equipment

Strengths: Easy connection, no setup required, quiet

Weakness: None

I bought this switch some time back and have been using it without issue. Connecting a new computer is quick and easy. I was even able to daisy chain a second switch I purchased to add additional ports to a room on the other end of the house. A real nice feature for those in similar situations. I would recommend this switch to anyone needing an easy solution to adding additional ports.

Almost perfect.

Strengths: Well-built, made with a metal case. Very small. Can be wall mounted.

Weakness: I really wished that the lights were on the other side of the box.

I've used these for a while at my work. I like the fact that they are tough and if they drop, they won't break. I've also never once had a problem with them. These are very small, much smaller than the picture shown on pricegrabber...not much wider than the five ports. My only fault is that the lights are on the port side. I wished it were the opposite side, like the LinkSys do. The reason is...

Netgear GS105

Strengths: Rugged metal construction, small profile, runs cool for gigabit switch, ease of setup

Weakness: Some may prefer plastic cases with cables in back

The switch does its job. Delivers gigabit speed in a small metal case. The version I received supports jumbo packets, full duplex and auto-uplink. I purchased the GS108 and the GS105 and they both perform well. The switch would be appropriate for business use because of the solid construction.

Netgear is a name you can trust

Strengths: Easy setup. No firmware. Plug it in and it works. Quiet.

Weakness: None

This was the easiest network add-on I have bought. I needed a new port to add a network printer, but I didn't have any extra network ports where my new printer was installed. So, I bought this switch and plugged it in. Once added, I had several more additional ports! What a snap. It worked as expected. With the Netgear name, my expectations for high quality and easy addition were realized. I...

gs105

Strengths: its nice in small in size. the a/c adaptor is small in size

Weakness: none so far

it tells you if your running 10/100/1000 mbps, by the green leds. the price wasn't bad either. the power plugs in from the oppisite side from the cables, which is handy if a person wants to hang it from a wall or anything.

...if you need to go Gigabit...

Strengths: Well made metal casing, respected company, fast, good price for name brand gigabit switch.

Weakness: Larger port lights taht clearly show status.

If you need to go gigabit on your small LAN, this switch can do the trick. I need to move large files often to my file server and this switch was my answer to making it happen with good speed. I like the quality of the construction. The metal casing helps keep it cooler. I would like to see larger port lights, but it's really not a very big deal since I've had no problems with my LAN.

Solid Performance

Strengths: flowless performance, good price

Weakness: None

As usual, Netgear has consistently performed well. There is nothing that ever needs to be done to this switch. Everything is handled automatically. This is my second Netgear purchased and continue to use this brand.

Nice basic switch

Strengths: - cheap - metal box - auto upling sensing

Weakness: - no jumbo frames - light status kind of confusing

It's a nice basic gigabit switch. Works fine for me. Mine connects to three PCs, a 100mbit switch and two other gigabit switches. Would be nicer if it had lights in the front and sockets in the back.
