inMotion IM5 Portable Speaker System For iPod

Strengths: Light weight and compact size

Weakness: None come across so far

Was very taken up by the compact size and light weight, then connected it up and heard the sound and was absolutely bowled over by the clarity. The carrying case and the universal voltage along with the different plug attachments are an added advantage when travelling. The perfect equipment for the bedroom / office which is just the reason I purchased this docking system.

Nice sturdy portable speaker

Strengths: Well-built, good sound quality

Weakness: Some distortion when playing at high volume

It is a well built and well designed product. Though not as compact as some other portable speakers, it is still fairly easy to carry around. The travel pouch is a nice size and holds everything including ac adaptor. The sound is fairly clear and loud, but it exhibits some slight distortion when playing at high volume.

Altec Lansing inMotion IM5 Portable Speaker System...

Strengths: Portability and compact

Weakness: Mediocre sound and weak bass.

Overall not bad for the price. The sound quality is fair and the bass is weak. It's portability is it's best quality. Comes in handy when I need to listen to music without using headphones. It's easy to pack and carry.

IM5 iPod Portable Speaker Dock

Strengths: Compact, lightweight, functional

Weakness: sound quality is worth about $40

you get what you pay for.....these speakers sound like $40 speakers, which is to say they sound perfectly adequate in a small to medium sized room, playing at a moderate volume. Turning it up makes it really strain. i love the carrying case and extra power plugs though, as i travel to Europe a bit. Plus it is a nice portable size - probably not rugged enough for the beach, but for picnic or park...

Good overall inexpensive iPod speakers

Strengths: compact size, good sound & fair volume for the size

Weakness: No tone control, so one sound must fit all styles. For some music, bass overload requires reduced volume

The very compact size allows many uses where no power outlets are around, or where you want to move the music with you without being tethered to headphones. For such a small unit the sound is very musical, not boxy or tinny. It is a generally bright and warm sound. The absence of any bass/treble/tone control is baffling in an otherwise well-designed and thought-out product. Be forewarned on that....

Altec Lansing iM5

The iM5 is far and away the most portable system that we tested, both in terms of weight (20 ounces) and portability, measuring about 60 percent of the length of the Logitech mm50, and half as wide as Sonic Impact’s entry. Press a button and the dock extends from the speakers’ body, which is...
