Maxtor OneTouch Mini III Not compatible for Mac as...

Strengths: It seems it would be great for a PC user only.

Weakness: The software is not compatible with the newly upgraded Leopard Software for Mac OS X, even though it says clearly on the box compatible with Mac OS X (10.3.9 or later).

I have had this Maxtor crash on me multiple times and I am having to return it (at my OWN expense) because it is defective. Furthermore, it is still under the warranty period, but I still have to pay to ship it. My MacBook meets all required specs listed, so I feel I was tricked by this product's advertisements and am unable to return it for a refund. In addition, to add insult to injury, I have...

Maxtor 60GB Mini -- just what I needed

Strengths: Very small form factor, a snap to transport

Weakness: None

This little drive suits my needs perfectly. It was instantly detected and installed in XP, is reasonably fast, plus it's very light and the build quality is good. If you find it on sale I recommend it.

great drive!

Strengths: nice casing light! no need for external power

Weakness: could have a bigger drive esata? firewire?

This drive is very fast. It is much faster than any flash based device for moving lots of files. Flash is a great alternative if you are not moving vast quantities of files or running programs right off the external. This drive is great for transporting large amounts of small files, or videos and music. It is especially nice for photoshop/3d studio artist which work with a many larger files....

Great portable external hard drive

Strengths: Solid design, good material, rubber side, no external power required

Weakness: a little bit thick compared to other drives

This drive is made of metal I guess because it feels great and solid, does not like other drives which are made of cheap plastic. The side is made of rubber and easy to hold. The drive is fast using USB 2.0 and no external AC adaptor required as it is powered directly by USB ports. The indication light is also useful. Recommended this product.

A small addition to your techie collection...with...

Strengths: small and very portable, easy to use, and self-explanatory

Weakness: The first backup will take a long time depending on how much stuff you have on your hard drive, but just let it go over night...

I like this little drive and at 60 GB it is the same size as my wife's laptop hard drive. I mean you basically just plug it in and go - the instructions are clear and obvious. It easily fits in the front pocket of my bag for backup on the go.

OneTouch Maxtor 60 GB

Strengths: None so far

Weakness: Not very easy for a beginner which it claims to be. It says all that is necessary is push a button and that's all! Not true!!

I have tried for at least two hours to use this One Touch and have not been able to figure out how to use it. I will have to call for live help or return it. My hopes were high but now I am not sure. I have been using computers for 3 years so it's not as though I am a beginner. I am adding this 2 days later. Was able to get Maxtor tech support and they were able to help me and with-in minutes my...

average

Strengths: compact

Weakness: not well made

I really do not like the shape, it is kind of ugly. The side is made of rubber. The included cable is too short The performance is good, quite and fast, immediately detected by Windows XP. Consider the price I paid, I am satisfied with it.

Great Product for great price

Strengths: The Maxtor OneTouch III Mini Edition offers a large capacity (60GB or 100GB), intuitive and useful utilities, and speedy performance.

Weakness: The Maxtor OneTouch III Mini Edition is a little bigger and no carrying case for it.

The Maxtor OneTouch III Mini Edition offers a large capacity (60GB or 100GB), intuitive and useful utilities, and speedy performance. One key button design is good. But the Maxtor OneTouch III Mini Edition is a little bigger and no carrying case for it.

Portable and Convenient

Strengths: Portability and convenient backup utility

Weakness: Cheap look and probably not very sturdy for travel

It's portable and has built in convenient backup utility. It's supposed to be secure though I haven't tested that feature. It's a good value at about $40 after rebate. It's definitely a good value. Though it looks cheap and is probably not very sturdy for travel.

OneTouch III

Strengths: Easy installation, Y-shaped USB cable for additional power, pre loaded software

Weakness: larger than some other units, one year warranty

Installation of this drive is easy. Software is already loaded and would be easy to use for most. I like the looks of the unit. I wish it had a longer warranty. The unit is fast through a 2.0 usb port.

Maxtor OneTouch III, Mini Edition

Maxtor's 7.2-ounce mobile hard drive, the OneTouch III, Mini Edition, earns high marks for its sleek aesthetics, ever-welcome OneTouch button, and blissfully simple software. The drive won't set any speed records, but this product is meant for backups, not blazing fast video editing work...
