My Book Premium Edition External 250 GB Hard Drive

Strengths: Simple to use and easy to understand. No software to install. Backed up my entire "C" drive within minutes of unwrapping.

Weakness: Incompatibility problem with front USB port on tower. Had to use a rear USB 2 port for My Book to function. Also, can not use Firewire connection for initial startup.

I wanted an external hard drive that would easily and routinely back up my entire "C" drive. This Western Digital seems to fit my needs exactly! It's easy to use even for a 'dummy'.

I ended up having to pay to have it shipped back to Western Digital and I am waiting...

This is my second MyBook drive and I could not be more pleased with them. The drive comes in a sleek, black box which offers plenty of ventelation for the enclosed drive. I often worry about heat killing hard drives, but this enclosure (despite not having a fan) does an excellent job with keeping the drives cool. The drive will spin down, when idle for some time, to aid in this process. The...
