Logitech X-540 Speaker System

Loud enough

Strengths: Matrix mode creates 5.1-channel sound from a 2-channel source.

Weakness: N/A

There a lot difference than older 5.1 speaker system. This new Frequency Directed Dual Driver (FDD2) technology could be observed after testing my Creative 5.1 system.
Loud enough in my work room. Had to buy extension speaker wires for the two back speakers.
Wired remote very useful.
Attached to a DVD player and protable DVD player and still got that cool 5.1 audio output.

Wow!!! Great sounding speakers

The center speakers can be placed on edge of LCD screen, which is how I installed mine. The satellite speakers can be desk or wall mounted (the base rotates to make this easy).
I was concerned when I picked up the woofer. I held it from the base, only to feel that I was pulling from the woofer cone. Not a shortcoming, but better be safe when moving the woofer. I wish the cables were about 3 feet longer, at least for the back channels. This was easily fixed by purchasing extender cables at the local electronics store.
Did I say wow?!?! These speaker system sounds great for the price paid.

I like it very much and will buy it more and more and more X540 5.1 Speaker System (70 W/Channel).I wish the cables were about 3 feet longer, at least for the back channels. This was easily fixed by purchasing extender cables at the local electronics store.

Did I say wow?!?! These speaker system sounds great for the price paid.

Strengths: (1) They sound great! Nice, loud and clear (2) Rear speakers wire is actually long enough to place them behind your couch/wherever you sit (3) Wired volume control is nice

Weakness: (1) The speakers are larger than other Logitech sets I have purchased (2) Volume control is wired on about 4ft long wire, not quite long enough to reach my coffee table - wireless would be very nice.

I now have three different Logitech 5.1 systems and this one is easily the best. The design of the speakers is nice and they are very powerful and loud. It's nice that they gave the rear speakers long enough wire so you can actually place them behind you, my other sets do not have long enough wire for this. The wired remote/volume/fader control is nice but I wish it was wireless or provided a longer wire. I got these for about half the retail price via a rebate special and am very satisfied with the quality of this system.

There's no cover over this speaker (why?), but there are rubber feet to prevent the scratching of any surfaces. The center speaker can clamp to the top of most LCD screens, which is a very nice touch.

There's a handy feature called Matrix mode, which creates 5.1 surround sound from 2-channel sources. In other words, this feature makes your music come from all the speakers instead of just the front left and right.

There is a control center (wired remote) that lets you control the master volume, bass level, a button to enable Matrix mode and gives you easy access to the headphone jack. The cord is only 5 feet long, but should be adequate for most users.

This is a great system for the price and the features really set it apart from the others.
