Great Performance - good for Vista

Strengths: Runs cool and performs well with Windows vista. Very stable operation. Even the fan supplied with the processor is good enough to run it okay, but you need a good cooler if you want to overclock.

Weakness: The fan supplied with the processor is not good enough if you want to overclock. No other weaknesses. Its not a core 2 duo and its cache could be a little bigger

I like this processor and am using it in a simple ECS motherboard. Installation was easy and the system booted on the first attempt. I am using a 500W power supply but you can get by on a smaller power supply. Graphics are good too .

Just what you would expect.

Strengths: Runs cool and reasonably fast. Easy installation.

Weakness: None for what I do.

This is the 2nd of these I have installed. One on an ASUS M2A-VM Motherboard and the other on an Asus M2NPV-VM. Installation went without a hitch. I used the stock Heatsink and fan and although a little noisier than the Zalman in my main computer is not too bad and cools just fine. Definitely prefer this 65nm Brisbane core to the 90 nm Windsors.

Great CPU

Strengths: runs cool with the stock cooler. Even with a little bit over- clock the temp doesn't go more than 38 C. Very satisfied.

Weakness: None so far.

I have paired with Biostar TF7025 MoBo and 1 gb of ddr2 800 Kingston Ram and Western Digital SATA II hard drive. Everything went well in the first time. Should have bought better MoBo and more ram for this cpu. Still the computer doesn't run, it flies.

Nice Inexpensive Chip

Strengths: 65W energy efficient. 2.5Ghz enough to watch video in 1080p. CPU is running at around 30C with stock heatsink.

Weakness: Built this chip with ddr2-800 and it can only produce 357Mhz memory frequency. This is due to chip being at 2500Mhz divided by an integer value that would be >=400. Thus 2500/7=357.

I did not want to overclock and needed something that can play 1080p. Therefore I chose the Athlon 64 X2 4800+. Also I chose the Brisbane over Windsor because of 65W energy efficient.

good enough for non overclocker

Strengths: 65W energy efficient, less heat, good price can render 1080P HD.

Weakness: slower than intel C2D with the same clock speed

for $95, this cpu is a bargain. when I buy retail box cpu, I prefer AMD over intel because the stock heatsink and fan design. It feels more secured than intel. I use this cpu mainly for HD rendering and as far as I can tell, this cpu render 1080P without any hiccups. finally, since I'm not overclocking, 65W energy efficiency also help to reduce heat. all in all, great cpu

cheap and fast

Strengths: decent performance yet good price. well proven cpu with ample selection of good quality motherboard.

Weakness: not for speed demon who wants to play video games.

easy to install, bought it with Asus M2A-VM HDMI motherboard. the chip will run default at 2500ghz but it is common to overclock it to 3000+ (but take your time to slowly ramp up the voltage and speed, check temperature, then run loadtests). this is not a lightening fast CPU so you will not have an edge over your game opponents, but you can't beat the price/performance. i use it more for work and...

I'd buy 4000+ instead

Strengths: Good stock speed / dual core / good heatsink

Weakness: Overclockability

If you want to run CPU at stock speed, it's a good choice. However, if you want to squeeze more juice, this CPU is not the best candidate. I have much lower priced 4000+ and it easily overclocks to 2.5GHz. With higher voltage, hitting 3GHz is not that difficult. Somehow, this CPU does not yield good overclocking. Getting 3GHz was not easy and unstable. The only advantage over 4000+ is low...

Awesome budget processor

Strengths: Fast, great value, overclockable, saves energy, runs cool

Weakness: not as fast as core 2 duo processors

I bought this processor to use in my office PC build. It is a very reliable processor. It handles my day to day office multitasking with ease and gives me high frame rates with my occasional gaming. You can't find anything this fast in the price range. This processor is the sweet spot of dual core processors. If you are on a budget and looking for a dual core processor, this is one to consider.

You can't beat it!

Strengths: Great price. Super fast with dual core technology!

Weakness: None.

I purchased this about 7 months ago and have absolutely no problems. The processor is super fast and is at even better price now. You will not be disappointed with your purchase!

An excellent choice for HTPC

Strengths: Low power consumption of 65w, runs cool, powerful enough for HD decoding.

Weakness: None for HTPC use. May not be powerful enough for serious 3D gaming.

I bought this CPU to replace the energy hogging, heat generating Intel D805 in my home theater PC. Because of the lower power consumption, this CPU fits well inside my Ultra Microfly case without heating up every single component inside it. Runs OTA HDTV programs smoothly, much better than the old D805. Recommended for HTPC use.

AMD Athlon X2 4800+

While not the flashiest of computer processors the AMD Athlon X2 4800+ makes up for its lack of power and energy efficiency in price. Aimed at competing with Intel in the low end market, basic Athlon X2 processors such as the 4800+ cost only a fraction of what they did months ago. Not the greatest of processors for heavy encoding or gaming, but proficient for the majority of computer users....
