This is an excellent drive that looks stylish and comes in different colors. the drive inside is a SATA drive at 5400rpm is plenty fast. the size is not the smallest but quite portable, fits in hand. the transfer speeds are good for an external. the warranty is good for 3yrs.

This is a great looking drive from simpletech. The drive is fast and can store 160gb of data. Since it is USB powered you can use it to backup movies and then play them without the hassle of power adapaters. The 160Gb of space will last you a long time. Also the speed of this drive is really awesome and takes less time to copy and transfer files. A very good drive.

Nice, Inexpensive Portable Hard Drive

Strengths: Compact, Quiet, Reasonably fast reading times, PC and Mac Support, SATA drive inside, Double USB cable included (Just in case your computer doesn't put out enough power via one USB port)

Weakness: Slight problem setting it up, No included power cable even though there is a place to plug one in, Fairly flimsy plastic case, Slightly slow at 5400 RPM

Well I am not sure if it was just my computer or the hard drive but as soon as I plugged in my drive to my computer (Dual core running Vista) it would not immediately read it. It recognized it but did not show up as a drive letter like every other drive I have had. So after trying to get it to work for a bit, I simply booted up into the hard drive and formatted it via my computer start up menu....

good hdd

Strengths: cheap, beautiful

Weakness: no

this is a good hdd, much cheaper than the "good brand", but still useable, the speed is not that bad. the red color is beautiful. easy to carry with, the software comes with it is not that useful, I just use it as the normal external hard drive. good for those people who only wanna pay a little money but get a big storage.

This drive is extremely quiet. You cannot tell it is reading or writing except for the flashing blue light. It seems to write fast for USB 2.0. I was suprised it only took a few minutes to copy 3GB of data. If you can find this discounted buy it. Otherwise MSRP is a bit high $139.

Sleek and portable

Strengths: Very lightweight and portable external drive.

Weakness: External drive is slow with only an 8 MB cache.

Simpletech's portable 160 GB drive is designed with style in mind and thats where it ends. The drive is powered by the USB bus of a laptop or hub however there is a secondary connector for extra power. It is not entirely clear why a portable drive would require this. Hot Drive - great buy

Strengths: Great looking, easy install, quite and works like a champ

Weakness: short y usb cable for use with a macbook

Given the bland looks of most external drives this guy actually looks cool (not to mention works great)! Excellent overall value - I would recommend to anyone in the market for a portable external drive.
