Superb 1GB network drive

Strengths: Installed easily, works perfectly

Weakness: The UI is not quite optimal. There are buttons without labels that are only identified by tooltips. You must set up at least one user folder before the drive can be detected on the network at all.

Reviewer sergetimancheff encountered major difficulties installing this device. I installed it in 15 minutes without a hitch. It works exactly as advertised, and I'm thrilled to have a terabyte of storage space on my home network.

Setup is a NIGHTMARE

Strengths: Lots of storage capacity, decent price, [theoretical] networkability

Weakness: Impossible to set up; poor documentation; only runs on network.

Fry's told me this device would work on USB or on the network. It only works on the network. Its "EasyManage" software is anything but ... after five hours attempting to set it up (and I'm pretty technical) and 90 minutes on tech support with Maxtor, I'm giving up and returning this product. Maxtor tech support tried to blame my router, my computer, etc. but I have other NW devices -- including...
