Product Details of OCZ Technology 2GB Reaper HPC DDR2 SDRAM Memory Module

Description

The Reaper HPC is an innovative patent-pending cooling solution developed by OCZ to effectively minimize heat produced by high-speed memory. As heat rises into the thermo-conductive copper heat pipe conduit, it is dissipated through the strategically-placed compact aluminum fin array. By guiding performance-robbing heat away from key memory components, the unique Reaper HPC design helps facilitate improved overclocking performance, while improving longevity and stability of the modules.

reliable new generation of desktop memory

Strengths: heat sink design which really help to cool down the memory stable performance

Weakness: a little bigger size which is not perfect for install

I purchase this item at a sale price so I am pretty satisfied with the quality it provides me while the market price is a little bit higher for its performance. However, I still wanna to say it's a very stable and reliable memory since I've never had a problem with it.Plus the heat sink feature which claims to be the source of the stable performance. It's a good choice if you could get it on sale.

Excellet Dual Channel kit form OCZ

Strengths: Cool design with heatsinks Works perfect with my computer after two months

Weakness: A little huge in size, you need sort out some space for them first

OCZ is always a reliable memory company, and I believe its memory quality. Facts tell me I am right. I have been using this memory for more than two months. Although I heavily used my computer, no bugs, no mistakes, no system crashs yet. The only problem I have with it is when I install them. I need to sort out some space for them, because they have huge heatsinks. The heatsinks do work, which...

Really cool looking memory

Strengths: Looks cool. Worked on first try.

Weakness: None for me.

I'm not a real overclocking nerd. But as all DDR2-800 memory has been in free fall recently, I decided to wait & buy some that had good timings. I popped this in my system and it runs stable at 4-4-4-15 @ 2.1 Volts. Not sure how much faster my system is, but I feel like I'm cooler for doing so. Also these are pretty big & heavy. If you're a overclocking nerd, have a small case and/or a large...

Looks cool, stays cool, but doesn't OC well.

Strengths: Cool factor.

Weakness: Doesn't make use of it's cooling.

On an abit IP35-E with an Intel E4400, I was unable to obtain a good OC. At 5-5-5-15, I was only able to reach about 1060 stable. I expected much better overclockability from something that boasts about its cooling. What is the point if it doesn't need it? As expected, I guess it's all luck when it comes to whether you receive overclockable RAM or not. Otherwise, it does what it's rated for. I...

One of the most capable PC2-6400 memory kit

Strengths: Great memory, fast speed, overclockability

Weakness: Too tall with some CPU HSF

This is one of the fastest PC2-6400 memory in the market. It could easily be overclocked to 950MHz+ with 5-5-5-x timing, so it would be a great inexpensive choice over those PC2-8500 if you plan to overclock your Core2Duo like crazy. The only drawback is that the memory is TALL!!! It's almost double the height of regular memory because of it's heat-pipe, which helps a lot when overclocking. So,...

Excellent udgrade for cheap price

Strengths: High Speed Memory, Build in Heatsink, Performance.

Weakness: Bulky

Functions without any issues right off the box. Had no problem with installation. Upon power on, windows recognized the additional memory. This has to be installed in pairs though. Head sink is tightly mounted on the memory and hopefully would help in cooling down. The unit is very bulky though because of the heat sink and mounting causes the two memory modules to be very very close. There is...

Overclocked easily to 1000MHz at 5-5-5-15

Strengths: Looks great in a case ~ great overclockers if get lucky sticks

Weakness: So tall that they could not be used in the intended system

These sticks are almost twice the stature of standard memory sticks, and they would not fit under the Geminii heatsink that we used. Be very aware of height constraints before buying. Swapped them into a second computer and they past Memtest at 1000MHz 2.2v 5-5-5-15. Memory looks great, and runs fast. Highly recommended.

Stands tall above the rest.

Strengths: They work :) Seriously, RAM can be a pot-shot. Was able to overclock without any trouble, but not by much. First memory with heatpipes? Lifetime warranty.

Weakness: Not for me, but these things are BIG and TALL. Depending on your motherboard and HSF, you could run into trouble getting these into the memory slots.

For the cool factor alone, this memory stands out from the rest by having a heatpipe built into each stick of RAM to draw excessive heat away from the chips. Whilst this is a crazy-good idea, in reality, I personally think it's not much more than a gimmick. Regular heatpipes have worked just fine for a long time now, so what's the point? RAM is RAM. Most users couldn't give a hoot about timings...

Reaper HPC Edition 2GB PC2-6400 DDR2 DIMM Dual...

Strengths: Good Overclocker, Cool looking heat pipe and dissipation fins.

Weakness: Tall Heat Pipes Require Overhead Room. Motherboard requires 2.1 Volts for advertised timings.

Good overclocker and stable. Cool looking heat pipe and dissipation fins. Tall heat pipes require some overhead room and may make it slightly difficult to install. Make sure your motherboard can adjust to 2.1 Volts for the 4-4-4-15 advertised timing.

Works great. Great support.

Strengths: 4-4-4-15 (as advertised). Cool heatpipe design.

Weakness: None so far

These are apparently the same modules as the Platinum kit, but with a different heat spreader and the additional heat piped sink design. They're pretty darn tall, so be aware of that in compact spaces. For reference, I'm using an Asus M2N32-SLI board in an NZXT Apollo case and they don't come near anything. A large CPU cooler on that board (e.g. ZeroTherm BTF-90) has fins that will reach the heat...
